Wii U failed because a lot of people didn’t realize it was a new console and not an accessory but also due to bad marketing. Because there are so many devices in this form factor now Nintendo will have to innovate to make its self stand out once again.
@@Doktario_Mystario Make the nintendo app beter and make it work on that litterly everone has a phone where ever you are you just have your phone in your pocket
Streetpass encouraged me to keep the 3DS with me at all times. I worked in a high congested area and there were always a new Mii everyday. It encouraged me to buy games that had Streetpass functionality. I was really disappointed they didn't continue it with the Switch and I would love to get it back.
I just hope the next console has the "Nintendo charm" While the switch will go down as iconic . It won't have the same nostalgia older Nintendo console do.
I totaly agree it didnt have THE nintendo charm like almost all the other consoles no themes no sounds no music no miiverse and they didnt use miis infact they replaced them the UI is just very diffrent etc etc
It's more charming than the wii and ds 100% I didn't see the appeal to recently I'm just getting one I haven't gamed much I the last few year but thats why it's good is is features multi-player games the switch 3 will probably be very very goof and the next #1 console
I hope Nintendo never loses their innovative nature. There is nothing more exciting than never knowing what to expect. Although, I do feel that Nintendo has been heading in a safer direction recently. Games like New Horizons, Tears of the Kingdom, and Pikmin 4 all felt "safer" than previous entries. I totally agree with you that the games are arguably Nintendo's greatest asset and that they will likely carry the following console. But at the same time, I think a flop could actually be really good for the long term. If we look to the GameCube (which flopped), we saw a lot of experimentation with new titles, like Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, and Metroid Prime. These titles eventually grew into larger franchises, paying off on more successful consoles. Without as much pressure to succeed to large demographics (like with the Switch), Nintendo may be willing to experiment more freely with their titles, which will benefit both fans and Nintendo in the long term. To be honest, I almost wonder if Nintendo expects fluctuations every two consoles at this point.
I honestly believe Nintendo will now make all of their future consoles like the Switch. It's literally the perfect design for a gaming console to make it both a hand-held and playable on the TV. I don't see why Nintendo would ever want to move on back to only making home consoles.
I LOVE the nintendo switch's lineup, I don't love the fact that the controllers are so cheap. I just wish a big gaming company would release some high-quality controllers but I'd assume they're built to fail so consumers are forced to buy more of them. It's very unfortunate that Joystick Drift is such a gigantic problem today. :C
I recommend the NYXI Binbok Joy-Cons because they have the same functions as normal joycons along with many improvements, such as a better form factor, turbo functionality, remappable back buttons, and Hall effect joysticks that won’t drift
@@minecrafter3448 You should look up the 8bitdo ultimate controller for the switch. It has Hall effect joysticks, analogue triggers, and app for it, for the same price.
Maybe adding the concept of attachment achieved by a new slide rail on the console’s top that the switch didn’t have. This can let the next console features dual screen games, cameras and VR capabilities. They can do power upgrade later on as well this way
i agree Arlo was just unrealistic haha but i think we will get some streaming services but not that much more maybe a camera but no filters and the other stuff Arlo was talking about
5:30 i agree but i also think titles have the most to do if they upgrade is power to make it able to port new games and lft it alone the titles would deive the sales
I believe Nintendo desperately wants a device that can be turned into VR or AR. Nintendo wants an Apple Vision but for accessible for kids. That's still decades away of course.
So true. Well put together video. I just purchased an Oled switch. I’ve been playing on it. I can’t think of anything to improve except for more ergonomic grips and stronger joy sticks. It’s a fantastic handheld. My childhood was based off the DS era and the switch, by far is a tremendous upgrade. Nintendo truly have created the best of both worlds. In a way, they’ve made it too good that the successor may not even come close to success of the switch. We shall wait and see.
Probably not a flop but I can see them losing like 20% sales overall from Switch. It's just the trend with gaming consoles. Never can capture 100% of previous audience. Probably will still hit 100 mil.
while i agree that graphics have peaked (the only improvements here could be making higher fidelity run better) the Switch is often critisized for being weak, so the new Nintendo console being powerful enough to run current gen games natively would be great for third parties. But the Switch has a massive flaw in handheld mode being the drift, if it was fixed that alone would be a good motivator because it would mean that handheld becomes viable for most players either way Nintendo has to really prove themselves now that we have the Steam Deck (which is pretty much the best hybrid on the market right now)
i love the nintendo switch but the main issue i have with my switch (2019 regular switch) is just graphics, i'd be so happy if i could have a 1080p60fps handheld and play all the games i play on my pc just on the go or at a friends house without lugging around a mid tower, but i also think for it to sell well it needs to be something new and not appear as "just another switch" to the casual audience , I think they will definitely continue with the hybrid concept but hopefully they just keep improving it until it becomes "perfect"
i Would say, improve the Joy-cons (they tiny and pretty uncomfortable for people with bigger hands), graphical power, put a ssd in, bring in more customization to the home screen, add achievements, back-compat with the switch an that's it! The only thing they have to really worry now is a strong launch line-up, and done.
When they have made us wait this long for the successor to release, simply having exclusive games is NOT going to cut it. For example, I LOVED Splatoon 2 so when Splatoon 3 was announced I pre-ordered it, pre-ordered the OLED Model and then hated the Seasonal Updates and felt it was majorly lacking in new content. If we still don’t have a new mode by Splatoon 4 just because Nintendo don’t want to change things too much, then the game - and consequently this successor console - won’t feel worth people’s money. You’d essentially be paying for a game that had the same modes as a game from 2017…
I doubt they'll go back to solely Home console considering how most of their successes are in the Handheld Market. I do agree that the next console might not be that successful but as long as the games are good, it may be have some levels of Success.
Side tangent, but what is with that fan made mock up I see everywhere? Why is there gaps in the controllers? Is it to accommodate small and big hands? Also where are the start and select or + and - buttons?
I wanted the nintendo to make a Portable wii u in 2016 but Nah They decided to make the switch Witch is Nice but the Wii u has better games in my Mind and Having a portable wii U wood be nice but thats never happening now!
A fun idea i just came up with while watching: what if the switch 2 would just literally be two switches. When one is in the docking station you can use the other one as kind of a wii u pad, but not necessarily only for the games that use a dual screen. When in handheld you can like connect them and fold them like a ds, but again only if you like and the game supports that feature. You can play every original switch game normally. Probably would be expensive as fuck an an engineer’s nightmare but also pretty cool
it's a fun idea but this is just reinventing the wheel, while it sounds cool on paper it would propably be optimised to just become the Wii U gamepad again
If Nintendo really wants to improve on their already perfect machine, they need to make the OLED standard for all models, improve battery and hardware life, add a 3DS/DS game slot, and make more special editions. I've had 2 out of 5 pro controllers go drifty, with a third that has slight drift but it's slight enough not to affect most things.

Adding themes. Do that and give the switch 2 more personality and it'll sell like hotcakes.

Mario Maker, Nintendo Land, Zelda, Pikmin and quite a few others all worked better due to gamepad integration.
Splatoon as well.

the Switch already has a VR accesory but it's barely used so i doubt it
