A possible parallel between The World and Star Platinum is armor and unarmored. The facade and stoicism that dio has is to protect himself while Jotaro’s is being true to who he is.
damn i never thought about it like that, it makes a lot of sense though, dio is basically constantly trying to escape his past that he hates so much. but he'll never tell anyone that, he just hides it.
Deception and an armor of lies versus stoicism and the strength of righteous wrath/determination. Dio cloaks himself in stolen valor and a golden raiment. Jotaro fights with his want for justice and intent in the open. Evil vs Good.
jotaro is, in my opinion, not really being true to himself. he is actually very gentle, but acts "cool" all the time, sometimes even is disrespectful, for example to women.
@@witchchick.128 I can see what you mean. But to me part of being one’s self is not being afraid to be who you “want” to be as well. He’s not running from or suppressing his gentle side. He’s trying to be a cool version of himself which is still being himself. It’s very childish and immature put Jotaro is still a teenager. But there is an honesty to what he’s projecting, a way for projecting you’re ideal self without discarding parts of one’s self. Yes he’s acting like a delinquent but one with a good heart. I’m sorry if I’m sucking at explaining what I mean. This is coming from my feelings and can be hard for me to explain logically.
I always interpreted Jotaro and DIO having the exact same type of Stand as Araki making them out to be polar opposites as the former was made as his idealized version of a hero while the latter is the main villain of the entire series
My favorite parallel between the two is their anger and how they choose to take it out on others. They both have a lot of temper inside and only take it out on those they deem deserving.
My favourite interpretation is that Fate sends the direct or closest opposite of DIO, Kira and Diavolo to them, because those three in particular use their powers to *defy* fate. Jotaro is calm, stoic, and has desire for justice. DIO is dramatic, overconfident, and has desires for his own sense of justice, using The World to defy situations where he could come to harm, not to mention him bodysnatching Jonathan. Fate sent Jotaro off around the same time that DIO was coming to power, to correct DIO's defiances of fate. Josuke and Kira; a brash, well meaning high-school kid, with a healing ability, pit against a quiet, cunning businessman with an ability that destroys. The Arrow may have given Kira/Kosaku Bites The Dust, but he uses it to defy fate multiple times. Fate sends Josuke and an ambulance (another symbol:of healing) to correct Kira. Giorno and Diavolo. The Son of God, sent to fight The Devil. Diavolo, two souls inhabiting one body. Giorno, being multilateral, as opposed to duplicitous, has the heart and ideals of Jonathan, with the cunning and ambition of DIO. I'm sure with more workshopping, one could match this idea to future Protag/Antags, but I'm very fond of it, as it stands.
Also all their stands counter their villains. Jotaro's Star Platinum allows him to invade Dio's world, and his strength overcomes Dio's own. Josuke's Crazy Diamond has a counter for all of Killer Queen's abilities: He can restore someone blowing up, can restore Sheer Heart Attack back to Kira, uses a glass heart to counter Kira's explosive bubbles, and Kira only gets one over him due to an extra evolution in his stand, BTS. And of course, King Crimson erases cause leaving only effect, while GER nulls all effect leaving only cause.
i always saw it as both started with the same soul, but the world changed who they are. a nature vs nurture thematic between them, where if maybe dio's father died and his mother where alive, he could've been an amazing person and vice virsa for jotaro.
Jotaro has always been a person who could keep his cool and his composure even in stressful situations (the only exception is when Pucci attacks Jolyne with knives and that was an understandable situation it's his daughter) and DIO at his core was always someone who was only cool and composed when he was in control of things. The moment you made DIO mad he flipped and lost his temper or did something brash. Erina insulted him and he slapped her and threw a fit. Jonathan beat thebcrap out of him and he cried and got so angry he burned his dog. Jonathan threatened to expose him poisoning George and it lead him to start drinking and messing with the stone mask. When Dire hurt his eye with the rose he started screaming about frog piss because a filthy nobody dared hurt him (Speedwagon even points out that this is Dio's true nature). Hell, DIO's whole fight with Jotaro has Jotaro acting more stoic and composed than DIO who slowly starts getting more desperate as the fight goes on. Jotaro at his angriest could be scary and cruel but he never lost his composure. He always used said anger as a focus and motivate himself into attaining his goal. Jonathan was more emotional than Jotaro but his anger was also his strength and what drove his resolve. The Joestars get stronger the angrier they become while DIO becomes weaker and more prone into making a mistake. Also Jotaro is a pretty immature kid in the beginning of Stardust Crusaders and we see him grow throughout his journey. In part 4, 5, and 6 you see him significantly mature even more but that's because he's an adult with more responsibilities and burdens. The reason they have the same type of stand? I think it's because they have the same type of fighting spirit. Like Joseph was always more about tricks and getting the upper hand than einning through a beat down. Jonathan, as angry as he got, he was never violent or about eanting to pummel someone to death oitbof pure anger (no matter how much he did want to kill Dio out of hatred). Jotaro and Dio do have that killer edge (Giorno has it too) it's just that Jotaro has a better handle on it and he can fight better under pressure than Dio does.
I always viewed jotaro as Diavolo but good and dio as Giorno but bad. I thought this because Diavolo only cared about the conclusion will Giorno always cared about the experience, which was the main thing that paralleled there stands This suits jotaro and dio as jotaro is almost always straight to the point and skipping to the conclusion we’re as dio’s always focused on the experience, weather it’s his will to experience heaven or his overindulgent personality, and habit of testing his ability instead of getting to the point.
I know I'll sound like a Stardust Crusaders fanboy, but these feel very right. Started with Phantom Blood like people should, though. Anywho, this, on top of showing himself as a badass, is why he is my favorite JoJo.
Um, dude, you said Giorno didn't have someone to save him? His backstory is all about how a man made his life better after Giorno showed him kindness. His whole reason to become a gangster was so he could gain power in order to be like that man so he can save others.
I always had the head cannon that Star Platinum has the secret ability to adapt small aspects of other stands it fights example: Star Finger was learned after fighting Kakyoin since his stand is stretchy and he was able to learn time stop but to a lesser extent to Dio by fighting him
Bro I swear I think in this anime the soul leaves an imprint on the body, so Dio's ability was probably already pre-determined cuz it would have actually been our og boy's stand if he ever got one. Perhaps with a different look, but most likely the same ability.
Well how I see their parallel is this, Jonathan’s fighting spirit manifested when DIO pierced Jonathans body in the form of star platinum, but because he pierced Jonathans body, a similar stand to SP was created for DIO, a stand that’s physically weaker than that of Jonathans spirit, but stronger in the sense that because DIO’s a vampire, his version of the stand could reach higher in terms of his abilities potential. As we saw in the fight, DIO got to 9 seconds where as hot off part 3 SP maxed out at 5-6 seconds total. Feel free to disagree with anything I’ve said of course, but I’m a huge fanboy for both parts 1 and 3, and so this is the assumption I’ve made based on the information I’ve been handed lol
I think it's also gravity/ fate. In the same way that gravity brings stand users to each other, I think gravity brought Jotaro into DIO's world. I quite like fate/ gravity in Jojo's partially because it works as an explanation for everything. Fate's also a theme that's really cool to explore with characters like Giorno and Yoshikage Kira.
I think it would have been more interesting (and possibly make a tiny bit more sense) that DIO and Jotaro's Stands should be called The Lover's instead of each being called Star Platinum and The World. Not saying that it should be replaced with the tiny crab mutants, but they keep their respective Stands to symbolize a parallel to each other. A Yin to the others Yang. Like Kaleb mentioned about their paths in life they took. DIO is selfish and greedy, only thinking to elevate himself and pushing everyone in his way down, even if it harms others. Even more so since he takes massive enjoyment out of it. Jotaro while being well intended was jaded. He was rude and cold to pretty much everybody in his life. He was stoic and rarely showed his emotions to others, only showing anger or disgust. Only when he went on a journey to turn DIO into a bloody smear on the pavement, that he learned to lower his walls, open his heart and befriend not only the rest of the group but also strangers he met. I have a feeling that if Stardust Crusaders never happened, Jotaro might've taken a similar path DIO went down.
The reason they're called "Star Platinum" and "The World" is because the Tarot Cards The Star and The World have similar meanings, which reflects in their stands being very similar.

That's pretty insightful

technically diego was raised by only his mother
The most iconic step in anime

Well said, my friend. Well said.
So what you're saying is that the Joestars are Hulk?
I always viewed jotaro as Diavolo but good and dio as Giorno but bad.
I thought this because Diavolo only cared about the conclusion will Giorno always cared about the experience, which was the main thing that paralleled there stands

Everyone talks about jotaro and dio but nobody about jonathan and dio
I know I'll sound like a Stardust Crusaders fanboy, but these feel very right. Started with Phantom Blood like people should, though.

star platinum: heaven’s door
That would be the User not the stand, star platinum isn't sentient.
Can we also talk about how crazy diamond looks so much like the world, meaning stand representation and abilities have to be connected to genetics
Bro I swear I think in this anime the soul leaves an imprint on the body, so Dio's ability was probably already pre-determined cuz it would have actually been our og boy's stand if he ever got one. Perhaps with a different look, but most likely the same ability.
I think they have the "same type of Stand" because it was fated to be that way. Sounds like the kind of explanation Araki would give.
Guess that's why when dio evolved his stand to the world over heaven jotaro's star platinum evolved too, but only as long as dio was alive
We might as well just say that his Stan star platinum is a representation of Jonathan but stoic
SP is stronger. The world can do more because of Dio's vampire nature
Stolen power versus earned power.
Random question but what do you think risotto’s stand Metallica became a requiem stand? What new abilities would it have?
Would you cover the duality of gappy and touru from jojolion?
every time you post it makes my day. thanks for existing 🤧

Dio and Jotaro = Best JoJo Characters
I feel like pucci is a better villain
In terms of goals and the way he did not think he was the villain
@@goldbay9996 valentine too
It is very basic how is it stand same. The ruler card plays the world, Jotaro, stoic knight in paladin, shining heaven, star platinum.
i hope we see a villian with star platinum in the new universe
How about Two Souls, One Path: Giorno Giovanna?
Vouch
Absolutely.

Here’s a video idea what if Polnareff decided to rejoin Dio during S2: E45?
There can only be one DIO.
And this is why you exploded from being punched :)
Very cool
Did u change the thumbnail? It was sheer heart attack with star platinum
