What I've noticed is that it's easier to beat these stages when you stop for a moment to move around (without touching the water) and try to understand what loop some UFOs are doing. For example, I once found it difficult to hit one specific UFO, but then I stopped and did a few cycles to see how it moves. Turns out it only went back and forth! So I went to the opposite direction and hit it the moment it tried to go back.

I found out something odd about the UFOs. They each move in specific patterns; once you figure out how they loop, you can break them no sweat. But they also reduced the hitboxes for them in the 2011 version!

Here trying to figure out how to get past the first stage 😭 Update: I was not holding the button down, which is why he wasn't hitting anything. I am now on the 6th stage because I figured out how to slow my emulator down so I can get through the later stages.
Am I the only one who watches this for the backgrounds? They are beautiful (except for the SS6) but very painful when you rotate. I mean who even programmed them to rotate different parts with different speeds and even different directions? That’s not how the perspective works
@Awawawa CM the point is that during the rotation of a observer all the objects around don't move against each others. The background should've been made in 1 layer and that would've been most realistic
If you have the 2011 Remake version, you can replay each one over and over until you get it. Just make sure you exit before time runs out then you can start it over again.

I'm now replaying everything with Tails (normal stages are so much easier), but I also realised that the longer you press down the jump button the higher you jump, and vice versa. I just never thought about using it in the special stage. This makes it way easier to coordinate jumping timing as well.
That's because it is, once you understand to take your time and stay outta the water in Sonic CD's special stages, you realize that the game gives you more than enough time to clear them all.
This pissed me off a lot in the mobile port, instead of getting the special stage you missed, you go to the one after and never go back to get the one you missed, meaning I had to restart the whole game if I messed up *ONCE*
If you know you are going to die in the PS3 version of Sonic CD, exit the level and replay the level. It will bring you back to the beginning of the special stage to retry. It saved my butt countless times.
Say what you want about any classic special stage, Sonic CD's are the absolute worst. Horrible hit detection, the speed shoes are a hinderance, give any crap you want to towards Half-Pipe or Blue-Spheres, but these stages are the least fun to play
I don't, they're too psychedelic to be normal levels. The whole point of the Special Stages is that they're psychedelic in nature because they literally exist in another dimension.
Honestly exiting the game just makes me tilted even more. Knowing that you failed a certain Time Stone stage, you're clearly just hardstuck and unless you git gud, you will climb up. This Special Stage is ass fr and im a complete hardstuck at #5.
