The fish engravings near Eagle Rock are genuine. First recorded in the 19th century. Beautiful area.
Oh really? That’s awesome. They did look pretty legit but I figured since it’s such a easy access spot for people in boats, that perhaps someone drew them in modern times.
No fish but a creepy night walker! You should set up a trail-cam. on some of your camps and then you can show us a Yowie! (or just some random creepy hiker, or crazy emu)
40 years ago my Military Police platoon did an adventure training exercise; paddling Canadian canoes from Windsor to Wiseman's Ferry, camping along the way. It was a memorable experience. Watching your video brought back a lot of memories.
Love the vid. Loved in the area for a long time. Your Yowie comment brought back memories from a long time ago. I grew up in South Africa, went to Scouts etc and joined Mountain Club, loved hiking. Slept under the stars on river banks and on mountains in summer. Moved to Aus with my parents when I was a teenager. One camp out with friends in Royal Nat. Park - stories of Yowies abounded around the camp fire. It was summer and tent space was limited, so I elected to sleep outside. During the night, I heard "footsteps" and was petrified. Froze in my sleeping bag and eventually opened my eyes to see deer walking around the campsite. I am back in South Africa and can sleep safely under the stars again, Yowie-free.
That’s quite some river. I’m always amazed at how unspoiled these places are. Having a number of health issues in my life at the moment & feeling down, always brings me happiness seeing you out enjoying what I describe as paradise.
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well! I too love escaping to wherever these camps take me to. I also watch a young lass named Claire who solo camps in the wilds of Wales and it’s so vastly different to Australian camping… She’s amazing though, worth a look if you need cheering up, her channel is WildBeare. I hope you have some improvement in your health soon 😊 Cheers from NQ
@@lolcatz88 thank you for your kind words. YES! I watch her too, I’m in the south east of England myself & have been to a few place where she’s camped out! Thanks again Andy
Nice of the Roulettes to give you a little fly past!
Finally a mention for Lost Lakes! Their videos are how I found you in the first place. Beautiful trip!
Hooray for Jon and Erin (and that weird Xander dude who sometimes tags along) 😁
I love your videos. I'm used to the lochs, glens and woodlands of Scotland. Australia looks so primordial.
❤ LOVE YOUR CANOE ADVENTURES ❤
Love the Hawkesbury River. 🇭🇲🍺👍❤️
ruclips.net/video/WNoYqAdMWLM/видео.html
Hey Scotty from Newfoundland, Canada. I always get a kick out of the fact your talking about your winter camping, and you are in a canoe and shorts! Your winter is nicer than our summers lol. Great stuff, I hope some day to visit. Cheers!
I love the Hawkesbury and all that sandstone! One of my favourite places to explore - except for where there's the dreaded Hawkesbury River mud at low tide. Also, those drawings of fish looked authentic to me. There are many recorded Aboriginal sites around Cowan and Berowra Creeks including middens, hand stencils and drawings in caves right near the water.
Ahhhh, now you understand the winter canoe camping thing 😜
Haha yeah I don’t know why I don’t do it more often. Those sunny blue winter skies are hard to beat
Winter outdoors adventures are my favourites. If you get clear weather with nice winds, the sun through the day is always enough to get the padding off, but a fire at nights is not only enjoyed but a necessity, and the mosquitoes non-existent.
Absolutely loved this one so glad you got your murray cod well earned
Quite a handsome canoe! I can never thank you enough for your videos, Scotty. It's such a long flight from Canada ...👍🇨🇦😎🌿🌊🔥
Also a long flight from Switzerland 🇨🇭 ...unfortunately
Yeah. Yowie.
Love your work mate.
Dude your editing and capture in this video is top notch, not to mention the content - just wow.
Superb again, missed the videos lately. As a someone from the UK I love seeing things from places I will never get to see so thank you, so relaxing and chilled. Keep up the good work.👍👍
Haha yowies have been sighted in the Hawkesbury 😲
Perfect way o spend my birthday night watching SGW ,love the hawsbury
Happy birthday!
Honestly, your video is my inspiration, Scotty.
Thanks mate
For Bream, cast around all those oyster leases you paddled through. Keep the drag tight so they don't wrap your around the leases.
Peace and tranquility, can't be beaten. Nice one
Loving these videos man! Keep them coming! 👌
Always nice to tune in and see what canoeing looks like in another part of the world than your own. And that beautiful Swift prospector would be right at home on any Ontario river!
Yeah Scottie!! Back in the canoe 👌
Greetings from Wisconsin, USA! Nice drone shots. What a beautiful area. At first I wondered how you could be in salt water on a river, but then saw the headwaters. The Calzone looked so good and the crunch when you cut it i half...oh my! Really enjoyed the video. Can you make a video of you and your wife on a camping trip together?
You always pick the best places to go! Thanks for taking us on your journey with you, you always makes us feel like we are traveling with you to places some of us may never be able to get to. Thanks again, you are doing a great job out there, Crack open a beer for me on your next trip!!😊
Wonderful trip Scotty! Thanks bringing us along!
I've been looking at dry duffle bags for a little bit now and that S2S bag is real nice, but WHEW the price tag comes with it. I think I'll most likely end up going with the dry bag company that Gatewood Brown (fellow river adventure youtuber, fantastic videos) started called Remote Designs, imo it's probably the best "bang for your buck" dry duffle and backpack I've found so far.
Really not sure you need to be too worried about your overnight. You're like 30 mins away from a major metro area :)
Btw, this is also my stomping ground. I hit up the Hawkesbury a few times a year, usually near Brooklyn, sometimes the creeks. Lovely area.
Just near my home ❤... So glad you enjoyed my friend 🤘🩴🤠🛶
Great video. You should come paddle Canada and do a trip with Lost Lakes John and Xander Budnick.
Another great video mate. Funny how you talked about having a knife handy, it's hard to wrap my head around the most low key, peaceful dude on RUclips channelling some heretofore unseen inner violence 😆.. don't suppose you checked for footprints in the morning? (yes I know it's tidal but it's unlikely anyone would have turned up and left by the water..)
That's a gorgeous kayak. Love the carbon and wood combo - old/new school
So beautiful man! Reminds me a lot of the Marlborough Sounds in NZ... Except the water was a little clearer in NZ. Thanks for sharing.
15:02 Eroded shell midden. Some of those abo shell middens are metres deep. It really gives you an insight into how long this place has been populated.
Always inspiring Scotty. Can't believe how busy the river was with boats! Yummy looking calzone too. :)
I cut out most of the boat sounds. It was pretty bad, especially on Saturday.
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout You somehow still manage to make it look (and sound) serene and wild! Stunning photography as always.
"On ya" Scottie. Love your work.
Great to see our brave military in action during the video mate ❤🇦🇺🙌
Lost Lakes shout out! Nice!
Scott - for tidal fishing it’s best to try starting about 1 hr after low tide with a window of about 2-3 hrs. Also lures do work but fresh bait like pilchard, prawns and yabbies do best. If you are fishing lures I have found that soft plastics with added flavour work well. Good luck next time. Great vid as always!
Also, winter time the best bait is live. Fish are lethargic and need something to get their attention. Lures and dead bait are good options for when the water warms up.
Thanks for the tips mate
Awesome paddle trip Scotty and a great evening meal.
The most peaceful outdoor videos on RUclips. After a hard days work…your videos are the best to watch.
What is the word you say at the end of every video?
Just got round to this. Great video mate. I like that you were honest about the boats zipping around in the are and leaving the sound in. Too often I've tried to edit out the sounds of cars and planes in my vids ... but it's the reality of being out in some of these places. It's still so beautiful in a place like that even when it is a bit more developed then what you'd be used to.
Also cracking weather.
You're bound to see a Yowie, you've definitely had a few encounters by the sounds of it.
Enjoyed this mate
Cheers for another groovy adventure mate! Loving every second of it!
-Liam 🇦🇺 🤙🏿
You do some nice camera work, nice trip, thanks for posting. Couldn't believe the price of that canoe your paddling, WOW.
That fishing would have been the perfect time to test out the Tip Top Nine Grains Original bait balls tightly pressed onto your hook. I've never failed with it in the Hawkesbury especially for Bream and Flathead. Give It a try and you will thank me for the tip 😊
Thanks for the tip!
Find some sort of structure, That's where they generally hang out. Very nice my friend! Thanks for sharing 🤠
Another beauty trip- also liked the Lost Lakes John’s Naan Calzone shout out- they are easy and delicious!
Great vid Scotty the Hawkesbury is an amazing place that's for sure
Thanks mate and yep it sure is
Cheers Scotty
At least we know where you are this time!
Beautiful vid of an amazing looking place (bar fuel spill evidence). Oz Tourist Office must really be benefiting from your productions. One forgets when watching that its just you.
Try letting the lure sink to the bottom, and introducing twitches and pauses in your retrieve. Great video! Cheers
Wow great spot for camping!
Up Marramarra Creek is a favourite with a great Campsite at the end.
I’ll add it to the list. Thanks mate
Always love watching your trips. So envious. Wish I could do this❤
You could spend the whole of your life exploring the Hawkesbury and its tributaries and creeks, my section was Berowra creek from the fishponds at the back of Hornsby all the way down to the Marra Marra , nice to see others enjoying it .
Love your work Scotty…..Did you have a look for foot prints in the sand in the morning?
This my stomping ground for bush walks drone and general photography. Lion Island there in the distance. Im a Copacabana resident 10 mins from the magic of Bouddi National Park.
Thanks for the video mate… and for braving the Yowies… I just moved back to Sydney after 14 years in NY… I’ll be fishing the Hawkesbury soon!
So beautiful thank you so much to take me to camping with you Scott
About to watch ... Much love :)
Another epic video. Would be great to see another trip with Banjo 👍🐶🐶
Another epic trip on the books! You are quite fortunate to live so close to so many wonderful locations. That calzone looked scrumptious, I'll have to give that recipe a try! I guess by the on-line description of a yowie I might look a bit like one to some, (except I have hair everywhere except the top of my head) but I can assure I was not anywhere near your camp. 😆😂As for the fishing? I've only fished salt water once from a boat. We went out quite a ways and the deckhand handed me a rod with a large shiny pyramid shaped weight on it with a hook attached. He told me to drop it over the edge of the boat and when it hits bottom to bring it up about a foot or two off the bottom and jig the line a bit. I did as instructed and began catching black sea bass with astounding regularity. I have no idea if such tackle or method would work in your location or not. From what I recall I believe the tackle I was using has the appearance of a herring to game fish?? All I know is that I had a great time and even caught a striped bass that was a keeper. The first one of those I caught was about 42 inches long and the captain said it had to be released due to slot fish fishing regulations it was over the maximum length to keep. I caught a few more, but they were under the minimum length to keep, but finally I caught one that was just right. I ended up with one fillet from that fish and it was cooked and devoured with gusto by my family that very night.
great stuff thanks.
Outstanding
Brother you always need a torch and at least a knife better a machete when your camping you should come out here to Cowra I’m sure you can find something to get up to fishing and camping
Scott
Another beautiful video as per usual, envious of your editing skills (and that canoe!)
Try trolling your lure behind you as you paddle, easy way to cover a lot of ground while paddling. Looks an awesome spot
Love watching your videos Scotty! Taking my younger cousins camping in a few weeks and re-watching your content to hype me up! Take care out there mate.
but how much better would the vids be if he had a dog? Adopt a dog Scotty!!!!!
@@KingofCrusher He has a Kelpie cross called Banjo :)
That’s awesome mate. Enjoy your trip!
@@Shaylin97 yeah he actually replied to me and said in Australia there are loads of places you can't bring a dog so that makes perfect sense because I swore I remembered him getting a dog a couple years ago and then you never saw him again, ha.
G’day, Scotty. I love the Hawkesbury River and have fished it for over 40 years. What a wonderful place. That beach you are camping at I visited it years ago, nice spot.
Great video, mate.
Scott, if you can’t use fresh bait (prawns) use a soft plastic! Imitation prawn 2”(60mm) or 3” (75mm) in a green colour 👍🏼 it might just work 😉.
Cheers 🍻
Love the video Scotty, I see a lot in your videos that when your fishing you pretty much stick with one retrieve, try letting the soft plastic fall to the bottom then hop it once, twice even three times count to 5 wind in the slack and repeat, gives off an injured bait fish kind of vibe found I’ve had lots of luck with that and remember to keep it random! Cheers again for your amazing content and keep doing you!
Like the look of the reel .. desparate for an upgrade😊
Thanks Scotty, now I need to get a canoe haha. awesome video mate!
Always nice to see a crossover in the RUclips world, with John's "naan calzones"! Although I must admit when he first called them that, I thought he was saying "none calzones"!
😂 they’re so good. I think I’ll cook them up pretty regular from now on
@@ScottysGoneWalkaboutI was also thinking, for the average person, you could prep it at home and take it with you in tin foil. Cook when required.
When it comes to the canoe and fishing I suggest a much longer paddle like 240 to 260cm and try to always be trolling all day long. Adjust the weight you troll with based on your expected speed and water depth. Use stronger line for trolling than you would use for casting. And wow that's a nice pack! Omg it's $400 USD!! Wow. There are definitely better options if you consider the price. I got one from SeaCow for half that price, granted it's not quite as pretty and the zipper is really stiff but it leaves a little more funds in the bank to go on trips.
The Usual High Standard, Scotty. Keep it up.
Great video Scottie enjoyed it very much
Beautiful views once again. Thanks for sharing
Yowies and a UFO formation 😅 who needs fish😊
Spectacular opening my friend, this looks brilliant!
Scotty ,I never mastered salt water fishing either , but you are a killer on the camp fire cooking.
Beautiful location... and canoe haha.
look absolute awsome Scotty. Thanks for the meal idea as well give it a go my next camping trip at the for the QLD Kings Birthday long weekend.
Great Video Scotty, you need a trail cam to see what goes on around your tent at night..
Awesome content mate.
Ripper video as per normal. Pizza looked epic 🍕!
Beautiful place.
Kayaked the Hawkesbury scores and scores of times, every time its different. Theres fish in Porto, very timid though. Couple of quieter camping spots down there, some ruins, even an old Dam.
Was totally a Yowie... glad I'm not the only one who camps with a weapon of sorts by their pillow 😂
always good when Scotty puts up a video!!! You'll have to tee up and go do a collab with Jon!!! they are a bit spoilt for choice over there with their river and lake systems... or go hot tenting 😉. as always mate your a great ambassador for the aussie bush!
Lovely spot Scotty, I've been hanging around the Hawkesbury River for years ,if we could get rid of the trawlers we might have a chance. But it's a lovely place.
Great vid, get a curl tail grub soft plastic lure and hop it off the bottom. Anywhere you go you're bound to get a fish 👍
Thanks for the tip
What a gorgeous video! I hope I can come to Australia one day 🙂❤️
Scotty surely you do a local vid on the Hacking, up north wast arm or similar, shame you cant camp because. its np but worth a vid
