I know this is a year old but if you get this comment, motorcycle spare parts. Lots of original parts for almost any bike. They ship worldwide so I don't know the shipping charges to states and you'll have to search that Concours as a gtr, same bike. Anyways stuff like the airbkox boots are reasonable, I paid 20.50€ each for my brand new box boots and worth every penny having pliable rubber. No heat gun needed and took a fraction of the time. Great source for hard to find parts.
Nice job on a budget build. I like the way the stock bikes look, just my personal take, but I also think these look good modified. The bike is so big that the small headlight looks out of place on this one and also the handlebars detract from it's overall look. All things that can be done later if wanted, but for having it on the road under $1000 it's difficult to beat.
Picked one up for FREE. Put a battery and fogging oil in it and damn if it didn't fire right off with NO GAS........time to tear it down to the chassis and throw some love Connie's way. Guess it's time to break out the Digital Camera and record it all start to finish. Brakes are toast for sure. Had to remove the rear caliper just to move it and the front one were already off. Wow, ya pulled the plugs but showed the NGK a number of times. NOT the plug # D8EA I think it is........that woulda been nice to confirm. HOT TIP: Take the back tail light apart, line it with aluminum A/C Tape and change it to LED.......You can thank me later. I did it to an older Katana (95) and it lit up like a christmas tree. Very Bright.......BUT without the reflective backing tape, it just doesn't work well enough. Paint............never was a kawi green kinda guy. But that's just me. I'm prepping mine (red like yours) with black base, silver metallic, add in Mystic Chrome Magic Dusting Powder to create a custom paint to mimick the 2004 Ford Cobra Mustang, Mystic Chrome Color Shifting Paint. Shifts to blue, green, purple based on lighting and boy it freakin is gonna POP. You CAN do better than that
Great job on the build. I think the headlight would look better with a large one, found on a Suzuki GS1150E. The tiny headlight looks weird, like having a huge muscular body and a shrunken head....like in the movie Beetlejuice 🪲 Infact, a naked GS1150E should kind of be the look you're going after. Large Japanese muscle bike. 😊 *Edit Link added.. ruclips.net/video/aCUc1kVXvjs/видео.html
Thanks for the video.I have an 89 concourse 1000.It shuts down on low oil after running down the road and have to wiait 1/2 hour for the oil to come back into the sight glass and oil light goes off.Any idea? Thanks.
I cannot comment on a newer year as it probably doesnt have a mechanical speedo cable but your best bet it finding a service manual for your bike with wiring diagrams/schematics for both bikes
Hey, this do you have a pedal alternative? I looked on eBay for the original part and it’s like $150 The back pedals on the other hand are like $30 Do you have any thoughts on any other kind of pedal that would work?
I have an 06 Connie that I've just done "naked"....the only thing I need is a handlebar adapter to allow the installation of regular 7/8" bars- the riding position I have now is a bit too much for my wrists (and I have tried every different possible position with those bars- nothing has worked thus far). I can find the adapters but not the mounts (yes, I've tried ebay, amazon and kijiji.....Canadian here....). Helibars has a complete set, but I'm not interested in paying $600 CDN for an adapter....any ideas???
Those old Concours 10s are bulletproof! They're also pretty quick and close to maintenance free. I 'm a longtime member of COG (Concours Owners Group), and there's a large amount of members that have 200,000+ miles on those old ones. The new ones, the Concours 14, will flat out push your eyeballs back into thier sockets. Like the old one, the Concours 1400s have detuned ZX-14 Ninja motors in them. As for the running of the bike just admit; when it comes to properly disassembling, cleaning and rebuilding carbs, you don't know your ass from your elbow!!! That's the most piss-poor carb job I've ever seen as well as the excuse as to why it's running like crap! It has NOTHING to do with "they don't have enough reduction in the air intake and won't create enough vacuum to pull enough fuel..." THE PILOT JETS ARE STILL CLOGGED for Christ's sake!!! Lastly... are you using some new "grammar for millennials?" Stuff like "carbs need cleaned," (what happened to 'need to be') hurts my head as well as others who I forwarded this video to for sh*ts & giggles over beers and brats. Thanks for the comedy - don't quit your day job!
it actually did, not perfect as it needs tuned but it runs and rides after you let it warm up with choke. The revs hang a bit which i assume is due to too much fuel which can factor to putting more holes in the restrictor or maybe you can tune the idle air screws. Probably best to upgrade to a kz1000 or gpz carb for better results though
Hey, I know this is a old video and all but, I was looking through the Internet and found your video. The very thing that you did is what I want to do. I have a 2008 Kawasaki Concourse ZG 1000 Could you send me your further ideas on what parts to buy and such? Thank you so much. This inspires me to go along with what I planned. Everyone thinks I’m crazy Lol
Yes. As said many times before...old video. BUT...by 2008, the Concours in it's previous life of 1000cc's had been out of production for 2 years. The last Concours 1000 year was 2006. Hard to ask advice or suggestions when a rider doesn't even know what year/model is in the garage.

Great instructive video ! I am seeing one for sale 1988, it’s original 29,000 miles, $1400, just thinking in it,thanks !
The extended warranty part was funny
Buying a 92 soon. These are screamers.
Idle hang is probably due to incorrect float level(too high) and the fuel is traveling up a needle at idle once you give it any throttle input.

What alternative back lights and blinkers did you use?
the links are in the description thanks
Where are the mirrors? I am currently trying to replicate this exact build with my 2004...

plugged oil filter
Where did you get the fairings and fenders
al custom made and shown in the series
You should try to throw a magnetic bag on top of the tank you’ll be surprised how it changes the look of it.
is there a way u can explain how u connected the gage cluster? i got and 06 concourse and have an old gpz900r gage but have no idea how to connect it.

Only thing i could suggest for this bike would be custom made as the new bars will sit much lower
How did you hide the gauge cluster/horn/blinkers/headlight wire harness?
its stuffed under the front of the gas tank into the frame. Not perfect but looks okay.
Ditch the P.A.I.R. valves and install block-off plates (or better yet, buy a GTR1000 valve cover from Europe).

I have a question. Did you ever put the pod Filter and the restrictor box worked? By the way great job

Best of luck, Great bike with great potential. Never ask permission or care what others think about what you are passionate about

My bad I got the year mixed up Lol. My car is a 2008. I work on my car a lot. The bike is a 2005
def not a beginner bike. smh
