Hello! I am a little late to watch this video, but if you haven't already picked a planner I love my teacher planner from The Happy Planner! I love the block system that they have in each month and the overview, plus I love the refill and extra pages that are super easy to add and remove!
As a person of color growing up w not a lot of books w characters that looked like me, I feel so strongly about this! I begin student teaching next year, but I’ve already started slowly buying books when I can to build my future classroom library!

I love this haul! I just started buying books for my classroom. I’m in my second year of college and will be in the classroom at times observing next year, then student teaching the year after. So I’m trying to build my library early to bring the cost down my first year of teaching. So exciting!❤️
I used to use EC Lifeplanners and their Teacher Planner, but last year I switched to inserts for home and used the Recollections Teacher planner for work. I liked that I could get it in the smaller size. Also, it was very similar to the EC one but even better! I'm only teaching two classes this upcoming school year so I will be using a Filofax with weekly inserts.
I use One Stop Planner Shop! It’s customizable where you print what you need! She also just came out with a digital version where it works with different apps or google documents! I absolutely love it! She also updates her products often and has monthly bonuses!
As an elementary school librarian, I LOVE your list!! If you don’t have it already, look into a slightly older title called Waiting on the Biblioburro by Monica Brown. It’s lovely!!

I personally love the Happy Planner. It’s easy to customize yourself and WAY more affordable. Michaels and many other stores carry them. You can easily take out and add pages to it because of the disc binding system. You can also buy directly from their website if you can’t find what you like in stores.
Hi Kim! I use the Libib app to keep track of my books. With the app, you can scan the barcode and it will add it to a list. You can create several organized lists (fiction, nonfiction, picture books, chapter books, etc.) if you want. Occasionally, it doesn't recognize the bar code..but you can type it in and add a picture. P.S. new teacher on insta here. @teachinginelementary I've been following for a while and found your RUclips over quarantine. I've been binging your past videos since then.

I love the book, Planting the trees of Kenya! Wangari Maathai was an amazing woman! When I was in high school, I was part of a group called Peace Jam and I went to a conference and got to meet her! It was an amazing experience!!

It is a clear reminder of why this movement especially for us as educators is so important. I love happy planners. They are very functional and I love that you can add or remover pages. There’s a used bookstore here in Chicago called Open Books. They have a huge selection and price all children’s/middle grade novels for $2 each and almost every month they allow teachers to fill up a massive box with books for $20! Needless to say, I am running out of storage 😂 Also all of the proceeds at Open Books go to literacy programs in the Chicagoland area! Here’s the website if you are ever in the area Open-books.org

there are apps thst you can use to scan your library and then it can tell you what you have and what you dont... as a kindergarten educator it makes it so much easier to buy books for my class cause I found out I was buying a lot of multiples
Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting was a book read to me when I was young and left a profound impact on me. At least back then, it was one of the few books about what homelessness looks like. Definitely recommend.

Starting my elephant and piggy collection thanks to you they looked like such a cute series. A,so I got one called Meet maya cat. It’s a very cute book and it’s written based of a real cat who was born a little different .. she even has an Instagram.
One of my favorite childhood books was called Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel. I just ordered it so I can read it to my two and a half year old son. It is a good book. If you do not have it yet, maybe you'd like to add it to your library :-)
The Lettered Classroom has a phenomental digital/paper planner on TPT. But if you'd rather have a store bought planner, I've heard great things about Happy Planners.
My son is going into 4th grade this Fall and he definitely fell a bit behind with the schools shutting down for the last 3 months. I think math is the biggest struggle for him. What would you recommend us to do this summer to prepare for 4th grade?

Back when I was in fifth grade my entire class and even teacher was obsessed with the book series cirque du freak. It was about vampires but also oddities like you would see in a freak show like a boy with scaly skin through out the book series there is adventure but also heart... also never watch the movie it was so bad.
Check out the app my library. You scan the bar code and it keeps track of all your books! Some you might have to type in but it keeps a running record and you dont have to type out all the information!
You should totally check out Azora Books! They are owned by 2 of my former classmates and have very high quality used books for $1.99-4.99 Also, if you ever decide to do a giveaway of duplicate books, I will definitely enter! Books are life!!

As for planners, I got mine last year and this year from 4theloveofpi.com/ Aimee & her husband Matt make them and they're incredible! She is a teacher and has customizable layouts and SO MANY COVER OPTIONS!! Plus it's great supporting a fellow teacher in their side hustle. Love what she stands for too!

I heard the Recollections brand is similar to Erin Condren! Last year was my first year using Erin Condren, I won’t be anymore. Might try Recollections! Happy Planner is also popular but I don’t really like the rings.

Bookoutlet got into hot water bc all their vlogger friends (who they partner with) were white except one. When asked why they didn't have more diversity within their vlogger partners they said it was bc they are "family friendly"...long story short all their vlogger partners quit and it turned into a big thing.
ALL THE BOOKS. Goal of this summer: intentionally build an inclusive and diverse library. Appreciate this!!!

I love Happy Planner. The planners are beautiful, have all the pages and extras you could need and they are a REASONABLE price (unlike Erin Condren).

Check out better world books! They have majorly discounted prices and have an amazing book-for-book donation program.
