Where's the rest of Africa's video's? I only see one video on Africa. I was looking forward to that.
[S8-E59]?
@@cathrynp152 dont worry there are lots of African videos coming
@@TREADtheglobe Thanks. Love your video's. Nice to see you here on Vancouver Island. I walk in and around the Victoria inner harbour everyday. I'm so glad you got to experience it.
Your video just came up on my feed! Absolutely loved it. Def a new sup to your RUclips. Never park to close to anyone at an intersection/traffic light. Always leave yourself enough space to manoeuvre either direction in case of smash and grab! Very important useful tip to keep in mind. Hope you enjoy South Africa/Africa. You truely missing out not going through Eastern Cape. July to December is great for whale watching and the dolphins ❤️ happy safe travels ❤️❤️🇿🇦❤️❤️

Forget the crime in South Africa, we are living in a beautiful country with everything we need .. South Africa is amazing !!!
indeed, we got it all in one country, you name we got it.
Says the white women, who propabltly lives a above middle class life who is not affected by it. Millions of black south africans will think you are a POS for saying that because they live in poverry and have to deal with the crime everyday.
hard to forget when you are stuck living in dangerous towns. I feel this comment lacks a lot of sympathy.
One thing I’m constantly tell people is that crime and corruption happens everywhere in the world so looking past that. SA is the best place on earth
So you're saying let's be ignorant to the bad and act as if it's all good?
The petrol attendants in South Africa are the kindest, friendliest most helpful people ever!
I'm gobsmacked. Here I am living in the most beautiful country in the world, South Africa, and I'm in tears reading the comments of all the folks who are no longer here but wish they were .
Hi American in South Africa...South Africans can always make a plan..they pivot so well🎉🎉
😂😂😂Yip n boer maak plan
Hi Guys. I am originally from South Africa, but have been living in California for the last 40 years. I need to commed you on how your vlog highlights everything good about the country. It encapsulates, the beauty of the country, the openness and helpfulness of the people, the melting of first and third world culture and who can forget the fabulous food. Of all the vlogs I have watched of people travelling there, this is the only one that has made me homesick. Thanks for doing such a great job
Oh we are so happy you are enjoying the videos and we can see why you love SA so much - we are loving our time here in Southern Africa and have decided to do a much bigger trip here in the future 😉🚐🙌🌺
The western Cape is beautiful I'm a local from the Eastern Cape, but it's flipping expensive for a local well some things the taxis are cheap though, everything is just to multi -cultural in the City where I have been then, you see normal in the outskirts. The gatsby is a bit over-rated but I love the spicy food though like samoosas and curries been working for a month I don't think I would raise my future family here my home pronvice is the best coz of the people mostly
40 YEARS! Jesus... good for you
Yoh that's a long time
Cheers hope you at least unerstand gender living in that upside down place 😆 🤣
Mark and his family is making me proud to be South African!!
That are incredible ambassadors for SA 🏆🌷🙌
I can’t believe he still has that Nissan 4x4 bakkie, he loves that thing.
If you had the time. I would cross over to Namibia from Botswana. South to Cape Town and then the garden route to Durban. This will offer you the best Southern Africa has to offer.
Yes! I was just thinking that. You absolutely have to visit Cape Town 😊 and do the Garden Route ❤
Absolutely! Garden Route and Cape Town is a must.
This is an absolute must!
I fully agree. You will love it and it is a must see!!!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fabulous wine routes of the Western Cape
Born in Oldham. Lived in S.A. since 1982 and in Durban for the last 18 years. Love the country, the people and the weather.
Welcome to my home country, enjoy yourselves here. I love 🇿🇦 and have never, and will never leave the African continent.
See how wonderfully hospitable South-Africans are..
To white people I guess

Off course 😊
😂 the bunny chow and rabbits reference kills me😂 coz ive never thought of it, that was funny😂😂

Consider changing your plans, once done with Victoria Falls, cut through Botswana into Namibia and make your way down to Cape Town…then head back via Garden Route back to Durban. If you do decide to do this and if you’re able to pull this off, make sure to plan the road trip down to the Cape so that you end up spending as much time in Cape Town and in the process, spoil yourselves to a much needed break (recovery time). Safe travels and welcome to South Africa 🇿🇦 PS: try and stay off the dirt roads (where you have a choice) it will save you a lot of time and Trudy will thank you for it.
Thank you for taking the time to give us the advice - we do have plans to do more of Southern Africa - but due to time constraints and the vehicle we will be doing a shorter version of this - but have plans to come back !! 👍😉
1st time seeing guys and much love. Enjoy the beauty of Mzansi and our ubuntu.
The Garden Route is a must
This is a great comment and very true! You cannot leave without seeing the garden route and CT!! Welcome to South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Outsurance is the best insurance in South Africa thus far that I have used. They never disappointed me in all my claims. Wish you all the best in staying in our beautiful land.
I work in usa but I am from Durban ,my mouth was just salivating when I saw you eating that bunny chow,I watched the whole video and it made me miss my country, can't wait to go back home to SA.
South Africa is my favourite country in the world and Africa is my favourite continent in the world, a close 2nd is South America. I've been to every continent and 54 countries and you can't beat the food/people/wildlife/nature, everything in South Africa is amazing. I'm from Australia, love my country, South Africa is like Western Australia x10, if that makes sense, wait until you see the wineries, scenic mountain passes and all the South African people invite you into their homes, even if they don't know you.
Beware of the monkeys when they're on the road, especially when someone runs over one of their family, the rest of the many family members will congregate around the dead monkey on the road, it's so sad.
I grew up in Durban and this is so nostalgic for me. Such friendly people
!
I loved how your shipping agent said, when sorting out the paperwork, “These are for me. And these are for Trudy”. So wholesome how he acknowledged how important she is to the both of you and her leading lady status ❤
So true! 🚐🌺🌷
Sanibonani 🤗 My motherland too. I lived on the Bluff. Shopped at pick n pay😊. Miss the warmth of the people. Travel safely Marianne and Chris. Thank you for your positivity. Yes , there are real dangers but if you are careful you ll be fine. 🤗
That's awesome
Just found your vlog. Born in UK but lived here 58 years in Durban. Have many friends who have left for the UK but come back every few years to holiday on the pound. It is a beautiful, warm province here in KZN. Can't wait to see all your adventures. Do as much coastline in the Cape as possible and definitely get to Botswana and Namibia.
People are still very helpful here is South Africa. Mark and his wife are very good people. Bless them. You gonna enjoy the wild life. And like every one warned you. Just be safe. Keep your belongings safe and travel safe❤😊
South Africans in general are quite hospitable
REALLY Nice people in South Africa 🇿🇦 👏
yip we... if I must so myself ☺
We loved our time in South Africa, we lived in Durban for a year and travelled a lot. Beautiful country and people 😊
Durbanites have always won surveys as the friendlest people in South Africa for many years.
Lovely video and captures the essence of the people ,food and greenest province in South Africa even in mid winter as you guys experienced.
Welcome to beautiful South Africa 🇿🇦. Mark is a true gem. But so are most of the south africans. We very hospitable 😊. Enjoy and be safe
South Africa is gorgeous, can't tell me otherwise❤
Thanks for disclosing that. I was due to visit in 2020 but covid changed my plans. I hope to visit soon. You seem like you would be a nice tour guide..lol

You are in my home town Go Durban best curry in SA. Enjoy our beautiful country 🇿🇦
I love South Africa. I do 15 - 40km walks every week using different routes and the openness and beauty of the country is remarkable. A privilege to call it home.
Cape Town my favourite city on earth.🇿🇦
Thanks I'm from Cape town
"First impressions of South Africa" ? Chris's beaming smile when presented with a plate of man sized SA comfort food!
Nothing better than n Durban Bunny!
My understanding of the reasoning behind the public holiday on election day is just so its easier for everyone to get to vote. As a Capetonian, I've never been aware of any sort of election specific violence in my 30 years alive except maybe in a few isolated cases. Nice that the lady was encouraging people to go vote!
@@carahindes4341 I agree. It is a tradition which enables people to vote. We sometimes have very long ques at voting stations....many people had no voting rights and since "the new South Africa" we all go out and vote
I never thought of insurance while traveling because I rent cars ect but once we settle I miss surfing I hear South Africa has great surf many blessings from North Texas ❤
29:40 here in 🇿🇦 we call making a plan to get something to work, “n’ boer maak n’ plan” which just describing it in Afrikaans which is one of our 9 languages. You might get to hear that often. Enjoy your travels here guys. We are a beautiful country and we’re an open and friendly nation.
We have eleven official languages in fact...
I only intended to watch the India bit. 20 minutes in and i've got goosebumps. In 69, as a 4yr old, my parents drove us from Joberg, through Durban, Kreuger, Vic Falls, across the Kalahari, Luanda and up to Congo in a VW combi, where we had to evacuate because of war. I have vivid memories and the tales my parents told me weren't as happy as yours. Tbh, i'm surprised we survived. I'm now going to dig out the slides. Thanks for bringing this all back to me. Safe travels.
Dear. C & M. I've been watching your channel for years (even before battling Leukemia in Hungary for 2 years). I am originally from Durban and this made me so happy. South Africa is rated the friendliest country in the world and Durbanites are the friendliest in SA, thank you for visiting my home and making me smile today. PS, when you go back, you should visit 1. Mandala Cafe (tell them ShanShan sent you), 2. The midlands meander 3. Nelson Mandela capture sight and 4. Shongweni farmers market. ...in Mozambique try take a day trip by boat to Bazaruto island for snorkeling and see the ocavango delta in Botswana, house on fire in Eswatini (and the Eswatini forests) and back in SA go see the garden route for wine, the cape penguins, the Transkei (hogs back & amapondo - amazing sea food and world most shark infested waters), cape Vidal wetlands and st lucia for hippos
Thank you so much for this message and we appreciate all the tips of places to visit - we have realised in this short visit that we need to come back and do a lot more in Africa and SA - so although we will only be spending a short time to finish off this trip - be sure in the fact that there is a lot more to come in Tread the Globes future !! woo hoo - M xx. PS - stay well xx 🌺
For some unknown reason, 😂❤ I've been smiling the whole one hour eleven minutes and few seconds of this vid🎉 cool showing of this country unnecessary systems, amazing people y'all are, 30L free gas is a win for y'all
How lucky you are to have met Mark & his wife. Were they part of a service you hired or just good samaritans. Incredible service. South Africa looks like a bit of heaven compared to India. Cant wait to see your adventures in the parks. Best regards from the USA.
Just a fabulous family who we met through our airbnb and adopted us !! 😉🌺🙏
Isn't it funny how things always work out. What a blessing to have met Mark and Andrea in Bluff to start out your African journey. I think it's all a good sign and oh how I wish I was with you guys! Have a blast!

With regard to your LPG fitting:
'n Boer mark n' plan....
South Africans always find a way to deal with things and make them happen.
I am missing SA so much.😢
As a Dutchman I can translate " 'n Boer mark 'n plan" in the Dutch language as "Een boer maakt een plan" Thats the spirit!
I have to admit, as much as it was very interesting seeing India, once you were there there was no way but to move in and it was so stressful to watch. I can’t imagine how it affected you. I’m so happy to see you in South Africa.
Trudy would win the award of van of all vans "award-winning van Trudy" the little van(engine)that could. Bravely conquering the globe 🌎 one mile at a time.
Love South Africa. ❤ We have been there eight times. Kruger Park ❤❤❤

Welcome to our beautiful country. Thank you for your positive feedback. We as South Africa know what beautiful country this is. We made number 1 as the friendelist country in the world. Proudly🇿🇦

Thank you Mark, you're a life saver. Outsurance is a good insurance. I was with them when I still lived in SA.
WOW what an adventure! South Africa looks so lovely & all the nice people who helped you both already 🥰 Im so happy for you guys sending lots of love from Chicago, Illinois ❤️😘
Incredible hosts you had in Durban. Very impressive how helpful they were.
They are fabulous !! We feel very grateful to have been adopted into their family 🌺🚐
I really don't understand people who leaves South Africa and live abroad, our country is so beautiful.
You have to do the Drakensberg regions in Kwazulu-Natal. YOU CANNOT SAY YOU WERE IN SOUTH AFRICA IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE CAPE & CAPE TOWN !😊
I agree whilst watching I wanted to scream at them😅
Love these longer videos. Such great entertainment. Have a wonderful time and safe travels xx

Howzit! From my home country! Welcome to South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤ Have a lekker time! Enkosi! Dankie!
You two are so amazing, and very fun to watch. Such incredible people (like Mark and Andrea-my shoutout to you both beautiful souls) you're meeting along the way, and it does prove there is at least some hope for all of us to get along and live life as it should be for everyone, without the insanity or immorality we experience day to day, and are so often presented 'in our face' to boast the offenders repulsive behaviors. Take all the known/learned/advised and obvious precautions you can to enjoy every day's new adventures. Godspeed, health and happiness to you on each UK bound trek through South Africa's beautiful landscapes and roads. I didn't expect the beauty you've already shown us, so Thank You for that, too!
I am new here, and could not leave without commenting! Your channel has just popped up and this was the best walk down memory lane for me!!! Durban, and the Bluff more especially - is where I started junior school and that red and white lighouse is where our school bus used to turn (was the bus terminus way back then) As for the Bunny Chow,oh my word you have done it all.. we used to sit on the pavement with our feet in the gutter and eat our Bunnys ..lekker! ❤🇿🇦Thank you.
Awwh thank you for this wonderful message - we are delighted to be able to share some Ruff and Tuff in Bluff with you - it has been a pleasure to be here and hang out with such a fabulous family and become adopted by this family xx
What amazing people that helped you out in Durban. Should be a good trip here.
So pleased you are having a wonderful time in South Africa. I loved it in 2019. My friends now live near me in lincolnshire. The people are amazing so helpful. Food amazing. You have the best trip ever. What a wonderful life.
I helped with the dogs over there. We have 30 disabled dogs here. We get paralysed dogs walking again. Thats our thing. So i love your videos for a bit of a break. Im new to you. Keep up the wonderful travelling.

Even though there is 1.11.10 minutes on this video, it still not enough so either I’m very greedy or watching you two on your adventures is just so wonderful. Personally I will take the latter ❤ thank you for allowing us to follow your dream life ❤
I love the way Mark the driver doesn't bother with his safety belt while driving. Yes, I know he's a bad boy for breaking the law and putting himself in danger BUT it does illustrate perfectly the relaxed, easy-going, wonderful attitude of South Africa and South Africans to everything. It's one of the very many advantages to living where there is no Nanny state! Wonderful!!!
You are going to love South Africa. Such an amazing country. Kruger is my favourite. Saw the big 5 while we were there. I have a fantastic game lodge that borders Kruger. Not expensive as you think and you’re treated like kings and queens. The lodge is on watering hole so you get to see the animals come up for water. We stayed twice at the game lodge because we loved the lodge so much. The lodge is in the Klaserie reserve, so if you’re interested I can give you the information. Also make you stay in the rondovals in the Kruger park. Rent for the night, so worth it just for the experience. So excited for this series ❤
The drink sold by the side of the road could be Amasi (in Ndebele, Zulu and Xhosa), emasi (in Swazi), maas (in Afrikaans), or mafi (in Sesotho). It is a thick curdled sour fermented milk product that is sometimes compared to cottage cheese or plain yogurt but has a much stronger flavor. @55:35
Last time I visited South Africa was in the 70's when I and my mate entered the country illegally crossing the Limpopo river a couple of miles from Beitbridge, Rhodesia. With military border patrols roaming around, landmines, freedom fighters and a potential crocodile attack, it amazed us we managed to cross unscathed. Those were the days.
Love your new video on south Africa. You will love Kruger park.
We are planning a tour around South Africa shipping our 4x4 from the uk to Durban so your shipping and insurance information was great to know.
We have driven in south Africa before and we have a house over there which we use as our start base. Vic falls is amazing place and friendly. Go on a boat trip along the Zambezi River
You will see hippos and elephants and crocks
We cant wait to travel next year and start our Utube channel. We have followed your journey around India.
But our plan is just south Africa its a great country.
Have a great time and we look forward to seeing your journey.
Fantastic !!
A warm welcome to South Africa. I live in Cape Town and hope you are going to visit our beautiful city.
I love South Africa my daughter and I agree that if we ever travel there we will definitely stay with Host Mark and his family ❤❤❤❤ love Sundays with you two lovelies and my cup of coffee 💕

SOuth African supermarkets and hospitality are the best!
Durban is underrated!!!
Love Durbs! I live in the winelands but we always go to Durbs annually
Beautiful country, friendly people, awesome adventure! Driving must be relaxing compared to India.
When we stayed with friends on the coast north of Durban last year we could see the lights of sometimes 50 cargo ships lined up waiting to enter the port. SA has a lot of potholed roads when off the highways. Most of the roads in Namibia are not paved. Enjoy Southern Africa!
“I’ve seen ‘Jurassic Park’ is the funniest line I’ve ever heard in your videos. So glad you finally got into Bushbaby Camp. ❤️
Welcome to South Africa. Lived here all my life in Durban. Enjoy every minute of this beautiful country. I am so excited you are here. I hope you get to see the Big Five. Safe travels. Cannot wait until your next video.
Thank you !!
Thanx so mich for visiting our epic country. It’s a complicated nation but we’re always managing to hold it together.
Lovely to see you back living in Trudy! Nothing like vanlife! ❤️
Having grown up as a child in SA I always thought when one goes to a petrol station, your petrol is put in for you. But traveling to Switzerland the one time, we had to put in the fuel ourselves and seems to be the norm.
Well Richard here in the USA only one state ( out of 50, New Jersey) attendants pump your gas. I've met visitors who are touring in rental cars in the US and can't pump their gas, because in most other countries gas/petrol is pumped for them.
Your first night camping in SA with those signs.... that area is known for hippos walking around. My parents were visiting there in St Lucia and were taking late afternoon walk around the block. As they came around the second last corner there was a hippo in the street. So they had to turn around and retrace their steps to avoid the hippo!
Welcome to beautiful South Africa 🇿🇦 💕 Can't wait to see Kruger
Being winter the animals should be easier to spot, love the Kruger Park!
Fantastic video, nice to see Durban looking more developed and good you were able to get the gas and oil change sorted
This is so exciting! Last vlog ( i think) you put us in a seat behind you both, so we were looking out between yous, and i was transported back to long car journeys as a child and remembering our drives from Lusaka to Durban and Cape Town. Wow, and now there you are! One time we were in a Humber Hawk where i sat on the armrest in the middle front seat, at least twice in a Chevvy station wagon. My Dad worked with the Mechanical Services Branch in Lusaka first for many years, then at Lusaka University Teaching Hospital). Perhaps you can occasionally give us the back seat view again? Ps we used to stay in Amanzimtoti, Durban - wonderful.)
This is quite an adventure!! Amazing for you, but also for us. I hope everything will be fine and safe. Can't wait!
Hats off to Mark and the Gas guys for show casing our warm South African culture...The Bunny chow looked tops
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne. Congratulations on getting back to staying in Trudy and for starting your African adventure can’t wait to see Africa through y’all’s journey. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s journey around the world.
Firstly, welcome to Sunny South Africa and I wish you folks an amazing and safe trip and enjoyable safe journey. Your trip up to Kruger is an excellent idea. Via Zim to Vic falls and then through botswana and Namibia will reward you hands down, so much to see and experience. I would however highly recomend your tavel through Namibia to Cape Town then visit the Winelands of the Cale and then travel back to Durban through the garden route. You will not be sorry. Enjoy, safe travels and have fun.
Glad to see your journey in SA has started well. You ended up with many lovely people helping you. Enjoy and take care.
