Very informative. You never know what's around you until someone else points it out. Looking forward to the next leg of the journey. Well done & thanks for sharing
The pillbox protected the rear of the airfield and the railway crossing for Garton balk drovers road. There was a small signal box at the crossing and there remains a small circular brick cesspit in the woods next to the box.
Great video. I don't know if you know but the National Library of Scotland have a website where you can compare old maps against current satellite images side by side. Just look up NLS Maps and you'll find it. There are loads throughout the decades that show this train line.
@@theshepherd9382 I have foot a couple of vids on the current state of the accommodation blocks. And yes I have. My father use to work there. I have a lot in the pipeline, but I’ll get to it 👍🏻
Up to a few years ago when rubble was spread about in the sugar mill you could still see the wagon turntable in the ground, now as I said covered over.
Hi, I have done a computer simulation of the line which hopefully gives some idea of what it looked like when it was open. The first gatehouse you visited was known as Little Driffield and had a siding for manure from the manure factory in the village though oddly no connection to RAF Driffield. The second site was Garton Baulk, a very minor crossing. I didn't know about the pillbox and will add it to the simulation! ruclips.net/video/ld3a-InDQt4/видео.html
I have since found some of this out. I have been looking at simulations as a useful tool. And I lived there and went up that lane loads on a bmx as a kid and never knew about the pill box!!

Yep. There’s a lot of new stuff to be seen in this series 👍🏻
Really interesting Pete.
Very informative.
Thank you!

Thank you. I had a look around and did see some thing in there and confirmed it on maps 👍🏻

Thank you. Yes I have found those and use it in the next episode!!
Great video, just think how many RAF Bomber command staff would have been through that station, on there way to RAF Driffield.
Yes. Is was a busy line during the world wars. I was surprised there wasn’t a junction into the camp for ammo.
Have you thought about making a video on RAF Driffield?

Grand job! Looking forward to it mate! Intrigued to hear what your father did there.
@@theshepherd9382 I’ll sort it out when I can get permission to go on the land. 👍🏻
Wow that's was amazing
Thank you.

Wow. It’s a shame it was in such a state it needed pulling down.
AMazing😍
Thanks 😄
Pete, these videos are just ‘too dam hype’ 👌
Haha. Cheers man. 😂
@@newmotorcycleguy I’ve watched a few now, good content. Nice to see Steve popping up after about 30years
