It is simple. I already had eth in my account on coinbase. I just did a send option of the eth to smart wallet and then did a simple swap. My eth for Brett. Before that I transferred my eth balance from my old coinbase wallet back to the CB exchange. Then I deleted my wallet ap from my phone so I could start fresh with a Smart Wallet on my desk top. I opted for the desk top version instead of the mobile version.

You don’t need a separate extension. You can use it natively inside dapps as long as they have updated their WalletConnect module to allow Coinbase Smart Wallet connections. Lots of dapps support it by now but there are many which still don’t.
You did a great job explaining this but Coinbase failed to make this simple. When investing and in business its not what you can personally do it's what duplicates. People over 50 are going to be like F this I'm out if it's not already a part of the platform included inside of coinbase
