Kids these days will never understand how good these arcade perfect games looked for us kids back in the day. Arcade, coin ups were new and improving at a super fast rate. This game here was one of the best of its time. Hard as nails but totally immersive.
The NES version sucks! Because Ocean developed the game and ended up published by Data East. The NES version wasn't as good as the original arcade. Stick with the original arcade version.
The Robocop NES game was not that bad. I would say it's very underrated. By itself it isn't bad, but when you consider it's a movie license game, its actually quite good. Robocop 2 and Robocop 3 were atrocious. If Ocean did in fact develop the 1st game, then I don't know why they moved to a different game engine that included platform jumping. I rather enjoyed that the first one just had walking and climbing. Having said that, the arcade version does bring back some great memories.
This is one of the best arcade games ever. I have so many fond memories of playing this as a kid. And I especially like the different models of ED 209s.
Wow. I never noticed when I played this as a kid that it actually uses arrangements from the original score by Basil Poledouris. That's freaking bad ass! *applauds*

@Musa Jeremiah thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I will never forget my local Papa Gino's had this arcade game back in the early 90s... I always wanted to play but my mom of course never had any spare change lol!! I can still remember hearing "drop it" during the high score cut scenes lol!! Great memories. Great game.
This takes me back to the time when everyone had the NES. Magical as it was, arcades had the superior hardware, and it made it more special to have to travel somewhere and spend money to get the best graphics and sound you could at the time.
Yeah I was always jealous of how well arcade games looked and performed as a kid. They were leaps and bounds better than the consoles or computers like the Amiga of the day.
Este es el primer videojuego que jugué en arcade, yo tenía como unos 7 años y también lo terminaba con sólo una moneda =D Así comenzó mi adicción a los videojuegos xD
Man i miss standing in front of an arcade machine. I still ove gaming but its not the same anymore, it used to be a real treat going to the arcade when i was a kid.
I agree 100%. I think it is because nowadays arcade games don't have much to offer compared to what you can already play at home. Home gaming killed the arcade!
This is only one of 2 games in my life I could beat. (The other was Operation Wolf.) You can also kill ED-209 at the end of Wave 1 by keeping the 3-way gun and going all the way to the right of the screen, point up and right, and jumping repeatedly and shooting as much as you can, starting before he even shows up on the screen. I think if you're really conservative with your shots, you can save the cobra gun for the wrecking ball guy. I spent a *lot* of quarters on this game. :-)
I played this game plenty of times in the arcade, but I could never even get past the second stage with one coin. It takes a lot of tries to learn the trick for each boss.
If you lined up the tip of the cobra gun so that it ran parallel with the ground to the right of the lift at 6:12 and fired a shot, it activated a cheat where your score would keep going up until you fired another shot.
A truly classic!! I have an emulator and always play that game every now and then!! Still remember when I saw that arcade for the first time. The sound was so loud that we could hear it across the street!!
i lately realized that this game has different sprite on robocop's left and right side. good detail.

OMG it's true, he's always holding the gun with the right hand; there's actually a BMP for his left side. :D Pretty amazing for the time this game was made.
... The game is *really* great; carefully crafted, a game of _skill_ (for example, *crucial* every time at the shooting range; can't miss, or: can't complete the game. :))
The programmers really paid attention to many aspects of the film and its storyline and if you're really eagled eyed, there's a trick that you can pull off which is a humorous call back by the programmers to a pivotal and funny scene.
What wonderful memories, thank you. Had this unit in my local pub as a child and got to the point where I could complete it with 20p. Those were the days eh?
Aaahh, standing in the arcade circa 1988...feeding coin after coin..Do you want to continue...10...9.....8...Hell Yes!!..What memories..Truly this video just brought back memories I did not think I had!!So cool...
Thank you for your cooperation..... Oh i good old days..... remember when i went running after school to the arcade place..... this arcade is till alive in my country, i play it once in a while 🇬🇹
Clarence Bodiger was an epic character. "Bitches leave.." 😂 I still talk about how Robocop was ahead of its time. The acting, ultraviolence, & how they created there own world with the commercials, cars and sarcastic take on society. "And I want a new car!! And I want the city to pay for it all.. What kind of car Miller? I dont know..Something with reclining leather bucket seats.. Something that goes really really fast and gets really shitty gas mileage... How bout' the ahh' 6000 S U X?" *I used to joke about how the toxic waste death guy went on to be a surgeon on E R television series. Some of his co-workers must have fucked with him a little about it.."Gimme all your money bookworm or I'll blow your brains out.." 😃
I have a dedicated Robocop upright arcade machine in my bedroom next to a 60n1 cab. I hear the attract mode noise from this game all day.... That intro music....it's burned into my skull.
Que maravilhoso esse joguinho de FLIPERAMA joguei muito em 1991-1993 essa musica desse jogo não saia da minha cabeça!! é muita nostálgia !! obrigado pela postagem amigooo !!!
I remember when I was a kid the local Walmart had this cabinet in the foyer and I would just stand there and watch the demo play over and over again. It was the most amazing graphics I had ever seen in like 88. The picture on this video doesn't do it justice. It looked awesome on that cab monitor with the lower res and scanlines. Then I rushed out to get the NES version and it was a complete turd.
Remember in the 1990's when we built cyborg cops. Ah those were the days! Plus...I can't believe he also mastered the bonus rounds, let alone played a flawless game. Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is arcade game is perfection. People don't realise how good the game actually is. It's the perfect balance, the music is great the pacing is great, the bosses, the guns, the sound are all great. Also a perfect movie to game adaptation. It was and still is in my opinion one of the best games ever made.
Bravo Zulu on not losing a life throughout the entire game. The Robocop games are always in pattern to defeat the enemy. Robocop vs Terminator is another example.
Hah, definitely! I always used to stare longingly at Afterburners graphics too in the arcade, Spectrum version nothing like of course ... didn't stop us playing them though.
Going to the social club as a kid, begging my mum and dad for more money to play this, there was always a choice 3 credits of this or a glass of coke. Always played this and went thirsty!
That's about how I used to play this back in 1989. I used to destroy this game 2/3 times a week and often had crowds around me. It was all just about remembering where the enemies came from, and conserving shots from the powerful gun. If you saved as many shots from the powerful gun as you could, you could destroy the final boss in like 3 seconds with it.
This arcade game was developed and published by Data East in 1988 based on the 1987 film of the same name. This is why the arcade game bears a licence credit for Ocean. It has more recently appeared on mobile phones. The IBM and Apple ports were produced by US-based Quicksilver Software. Unlike the other home versions, the Commodore 64 version is a mostly original game that only loosely follows the arcade RoboCop. In addition to a different soundtrack, the boss battles are replaced with a screen where the player must shoot a man holding a woman hostage (without hitting her). The original European cassette tape version was notorious for a huge number of bugs (which were cleaned up in the US disk release). played this at the arcade and loved it so much i got the nes version for xmas. one of the holy nes games i gave a shit about enough to beat it without dying to boot. the sound on this and many other arcade games of the time were SO good. double dragon and altered beast arcade versions come to mind.
Fair play fella, one credit! After finishing this in the arcade and using endless credits to do so I wouldn't have thought this possible! Incredible achievement, well done!
I remember the arcade version when I was in PathMark in Brooklyn since I was a youngster along with "Vs. Super Mario Bros." which was the arcade port of an NES game. This brings back memories, but this would be a great idea for an upcoming "4 O'Clock Game" episode in honor of the new "RoboCop" movie which will be coming out soon. I'll do the arcade version and the NES version.

You know how many times I spent quarterless as a kid looking at this arcade... just staring... almost hypnotic.
"Drop It!"
Same here! Spent way more time watching than playing!
Squeaky voiced teen employee of the Arcade: “I’m sorry but you’ll have to leave!”
I was mesmerized by this.. LOL. and yes I was 14 so imagine that..
@@juliusquasar1565 Yes, you sound like that acne-ridden teenage kid from _The Simpsons._
This is the best Robocop game ever created, along with the NES version!!! I spent a lot of coins to play this in the arcade, good ol' times
I loved both games equally.
Same here.
The NES version sucks! Because Ocean developed the game and ended up published by Data East. The NES version wasn't as good as the original arcade. Stick with the original arcade version.

This took me back to my childhood to which it made me realize that I’m going to be 40 next year, lol
Wow. I never noticed when I played this as a kid that it actually uses arrangements from the original score by Basil Poledouris. That's freaking bad ass! *applauds*
Basil is by far my favorite movie composer of all time. The Robocop score will always be awesome
I was a master at this game back in the day! I could beat it on one quarter. This was my jam!
Impressive.
They could've gone with a completely original score, but what we get here is a very faithful representation of the music from the original RoboCop movie. And none of it feels out of place with the arcade machine's sound chip either.
Very impressive.

"Nice shootin', son. What's your name?" "Murphy."

Operation wolf was great but ridiculous as well. Fun times
I have only beaten X-Men, Soul Calibur, and Soul Claibur II in the arcade. I spent $5 in quarters to beat X-Men and only 1 quarter to beat SC & SC II.

This arcade game was developed and published by Data East in 1988 based on the 1987 film of the same name. In the game, a player controls RoboCop who advances through various stages that are taken from the 1987 movie. The bonus screen is a target shooting range that uses a first-person perspective. The intermission features digitized voices from the actors. It was sub-licensed to Data East by Uk-based Ocean Software, who in turn had obtained the rights from Orion Pictures at the script stage. The 1988 run & gun and beat 'em up hybrid arcade game developed and published by Data East, was licensed from a computer game company rather than the other way around. This is why the arcade game bears a licence credit for Ocean. It has more recently appeared on mobile phones. The IBM and Apple ports were produced by US-based Quicksilver Software.
