Love the live format James you should do these from time to time! Bergman is not my cup of tea but his influence on world cinema is undeniable.
F V, appreciate the feedback on the live format. Good to hear. Yes, Bergman is not for everyone but his impact on the medium is amazing.
I own two bergmans … PERSONA and the absolutely Brilliant…SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Nice. I need to watch Scenes from a Marriage.
I got the mammoth Bergam box set when it came out and have been watching them in order of movie release year. Up to the Scenes From A Marriage TV Miniseries now. I've seen that and some others before from previous stand alone editions . Fanny and Alexander is great, looking forward to watching it again when I make my way to it. The priest is creepy.
I think I saw my first Bergman film on The Criterion Channel 3 yrs. ago, Summer With Monika, and absolutely loved it and then started watching all his films available on the channel, screening for more potential blu-ray purchases. The four you chose to spotlight are superb choices. Persona gets a lot of hype and I think well deserved, just a great title. Also love Fanny and Alexander, Hour of the Wolf, Winter Light, Throuh a Glass Darkly, Cries and Whispers, The Seventh Seal, Autumn Sonata. I agree with several critics who label Fanny and Alexander as Bergman's grand masterpiece.
Pete, yes, Bergman’s filmography is a treasure trove of greatness. Glad you liked the ones I chose to spotlight.
Wild Strawberries!!!
Wild Strawberries is a great one!
