They could of made it far better, they should of re made it in the early 80s , it was so obvious that carla was the gorgon omfg , they should of had more female cast just to confuse the audience more, and it needs far more action scenes and build up for the gorgon, he snuck up behind a monster and cut its head off, she should of been able to tell he was there ,

Great to see a movie that relied on an interesting storyline and excellent acting rather than special effects and a screen so dark you cant see the action (just for the scare factor). A lot of the British actors of that era were classically trained on the stage. Back before microphones, voice training was a necessary part of their acting apprenticeship. Richard Burton, Peter OToole, Peter Finch, Rex Harrison...all had wonderful voices. It also meant that they could pick up work on radio, between acting jobs. Radio serialisation of stories was a thing back then😊

I love almost everything I have seen from Hammer Studios. Some are a bit corny for today, but they bring me back to being a teen ager, going to the drive-in for a night of HORROR! Hammer knew the added value of well-designed sets,. they were a part of the beauty of these films. They had an elegant air to their movies, and my favorites are also Cushing and Lee in anything together.

This is one of Hammers greatest films ever made. Vividly remember being very frightened watching this on television as a youngster - my earliest memory of actually being scared by a movie.
There are WAY too many ads on this channel - every 3 or 4 minutes is ridiculous - it totally disrupts the flow of the film..."free with ads" indeed!

    typ 20 minuter

Peter Cushing is often so masterful and commanding. Here we see a nuanced portrayal of a neurotic, insecure man.
