These are great razors. I'm relatively new to wet shaving and this was my first razor. great razor for beginners because the shape of it automatically puts it at the right 30 degree angle you need for shaving. It's hard to not use it properly. Unfortunately, I fell down the wet shaving rabbit hole now and I can't stop buying new razors, soaps and other shaving accessories. :)

    From the Henson site:
"We have equipped our razor with a tungsten bushing which serves one purpose: to reduce friction while tightening the razor. This creates a smooth feel, with little torque required to clamp the blade in place. Tungsten has a very low coefficient of friction and is fairly hard, as well as being very corrosion resistant, so it serves well as a bushing in this application. Additionally, the reduced friction will result in less wear between the handle and the base plate."

The Henson medium was my first DE razor. It made the move from cartridges very easy! A year and a half later, I have 26 razors (got a bit carried away), but the Henson is still one of my favourite non-adjustables. It's the one I would recommend as a first DE, if it's in your budget.

The short version: The aggressive Henson is the best razor I've ever had. It IS leaving my old face soft as a baby's bum. With no blood anywhere. Incredible! Every morning I shave my head with HeadBlade's HeadSlick and a HeadBlade ATX for the top and my Henson for the lower part of my head. Simple and efficient.

I have fairly sensitive skin when it comes to shaving, and grain "pattern" doesn't really apply to the chaos that grows out of my neck
I think everybody should make their own minds up about these things, but after buying a Henson Shaving razor I really can't see myself buying another razor (unless it's a replacement Henson)
For me, it's a perfect match and I really couldn't imagine a razor better suited to me than the AL13 in mild. Absolutely over the moon with it, after trying a few DE razors I've found the one that's perfect for me

I love engineered razors, you don’t have to ever think of the blade is sitting straight or the blade gaps are different.

I saw one RUclips ad for the Henson (introduction).
Watched an hour+ podcast on it (the hook... I learned a lot, lol)
Checked out local suppliers (none here in Alberta)
So now, before ordering, I'm watching whatever I can before making the decision to buy one. Looking down videos, I saw your video and went "Oh! A channel I trust!" and am now going to watch this haha.
Thanks for putting a stop to my endless review searching. I got into shaving with you guys, and I trust you guys as such. :)

As far as I know this splendid razor comes in three variants: Mild - Medium - Aggressive. I bought the mild version some time ago and it is truly difficult to squeeze any blood out of the face with that one. Therefore I've bought an aggressive version - frankly because I think the mild version is a little too mild for me and not leaving my 70 year old face soft as a baby's bum. Maybe the aggressive version is too aggressive. In a couple of days I'll be wiser.

Have both the medium and mild. Both are about the same efficiency, but the mild is my go-to due to decreased blade feel and less overall irritation (although both do a great job). Don't be turned off by the "mild" descriptor; it still does an awesome job and is basically childproof when it comes to nicks. This is coming from someone who has been wet shaving for over 10 years with numerous razors, rex ambassador included (and still in heavy rotation). Highly recommended for beginners and experts alike.

Brand new to wet shaving and this is the razor I bought. Finding the angle is super easy and while it’s mild it also gives a great shave. I can do 3 passes with my Proraso white and have no irritation and get exceptionally close. The only problem is that Henson now got me into the wet shaving world and I am now plotting my next purchase 😂

I just got the Henson AL 13 (Mild) in Black. Looks and feels amazing. First time using a DE razor in over 40 years of shaving. Very intuitive feel to the razor. Easy to find the angle. Overall, I am very happy I bought it. I have sensitive skin and found the blade exposure to be perfect. Unlike cartridges, which nowadays have between 5 & 7 blades, this razor may take 2-3 passes to get a baby butt smooth face. If you're the impatient type and want to finish in 2 minutes flat, this may not be the razor for you. The reason I switched to a DE razor was that I was tired of Gillette making overpriced, over-engineered, designed to fail, environmentally unfriendly products. Once you amortize the cost of the razor itself, you'll save a boatload of money after that since DE razor blades are ridiculously cheap. I have the Astra SP blades and they work great. Perhaps when I get really used to the razor, I may give Feather blades a whirl. This is a fantastic razor. I love the fact it has a lifetime warranty and is designed and built in Canada with exacting specifications.

I have a Henson + that I love. I have found that there is a little drag with certain soaps. I have found that I can reduce the drag by applying an automotive ceramic coating on the top cap and safety bar. I am interested in trying the ++ to see if I would like it as much. Thanks for the informative content…

The Henson razor is overall my favorite razor. I am a daily head and face shaver, so I really appreciate the smooth, mild, and efficient shave of this razor. I have a lot of razors that I like and use, but I use this razor far more than any other. I can shave my face and head fast every day with no cuts or irritation. If I ever get a shave that is too aggressive from one of my other razors, I always use my Henson the next day. Some aluminum razors feel cheap, this does not. You can feel the quality and precision when you hold it.

I bought this Henson but I did not like it. It was too heavy and you have no feeling of pressure when using it. Also, when using hot water, the aluminum heats up and makes the razor hot. I appreciated their effort and design, but nothing beats a Schick Extreme 3 with my vintage Schick handle. I buy the 14-piece bulk packs from Amazon and take the new blades off the cheap handle and install them on the older vintage style handle. Blades cost one dollar. Nice feeling and control of pressure. Everything else I have tried has poor performance. Especially Gillette.
