    Our Gear:
Canon G7X Mark II: amzn.to/2nDh9UH (it’s amazing and basically sees in the dark)
Canon G7X: amzn.to/2mMmPrd (the original is almost as good, but less expensive)
Joby Gorillapod: amzn.to/2n6m92y (fantastic versatile bendy tripod - this is the slightly smaller “action” version that’s easier to travel with and comes with a mount for a camera and a gopro)
Macbook Air: amzn.to/2n6rPtc (we edit everything on Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Air, which is light and easy to travel with)
External Hard Drive: amzn.to/2nD6o4F (the videos are a little too big for the macbook air to handle, so I edit everything off an external hard drive)

Thanks so much, Laura. That's really nice of you to say. And I agree. The missions may not be a huge tourist draw, but visiting them was one of my favorite experiences in Texas. They're all so unique and interesting!

Great footage! Loved the little bits of info you tossed in every so often. When/if you get to San Fransisco on your cross country trip, check out the Sutro Baths for a great ruins adventure. Loved it!

When we first moved to San Antonio, we visited the same missions, and had them to ourselves as well. Outside of Mission San Jose, we saw no one else at all, not even park rangers, so we really got to do in-depth explorations without interruption or interference. We even got into places that are closed off to the public now, because nobody was around to tell us no, and there weren't any warning signs up, either!
At the end of the day, the first person we saw outside of San Jose was at Espada, and that was only because it was the park ranger there to close the site down. Except he let us stay way past the official closing time.
That was back in the 90s, and you can't do any of that now.

Yeah, I love exploring places before there are any rules. We've explored a lot of ruins in Mexico and Asia like that and it's always a blast. -Brian

I know! We're planning a road trip across the country right now, and the thing I hear the most from people who've done it before is that there is NOTHING in Texas. But I think they mean everything west of San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas. -Brian

Suggest checking out San Angelo (artsy, and park areas) and Big Bend National Park, especially in the spring. (I'm a Coloradan, so not a Texan, but have found those areas to be beautiful in their own way. Also, geologic history in western Texas is interesting.)

Texas isn't like what you see in movies or TV shows. It has a variety of unique geographic regions, from coastal plains in the southeast of the state to big rock canyons in the Panhandle to mountains near El Paso to massive pine barren forests in East Texas to the Hill Country north of San Antonio/west of Austin.

Technically, yes. From Espada to the Alamo is 8.5 miles. In the Texas heat, that wouldn't be a pleasant walk, but it is possible.
