  • We build next-generation wingmen, leaders, and warriors, but some days are a bit more serious than others.
Based out of the Georgia Institute of Technology and home to 11 cross-town schools, Detachment 165 has commissioned over 1,700 officers into the U.S. Air Force since its inception in the 1920s and ranks in the top 10% of detachments nationwide. Detachment 165's mission is to train cadets and develop leaders who will excel in the U.S. Air Force and go on to positively impact their units, their airmen, and the world.

Since Perimeter College is a part of GSU, you should be able to attend Det 165 as a crosstown student. Visit afrotc.gatech.edu or email recruiting@afrotc.gatech.edu for more information!

These are will be the commissioned officers over all of our airmen. Some of the immaturity is bred out. Some not all...

@Breitner Baptiste didn’t see this until now I’m prior E and actually dropped rotc. I realized that being a civi is really nice, having freedom is underrated. Being able to choose where I work, for how long, not deploying, actually using my degree all mattered to me more than leading troops, and being an officer.

hello fellow rotc cadet, honestly I love the program because it gives you a chance to devote yourself to something beneficial not just to yourself but to your country as well. The scholarships are also pretty cool since a full ride can go a long way but it's not just the money but the ability to get into any high income job related to the branch your joining. I understand that one might feel as though they lose their freedom but it's a price you have to pay for the various benefits provided. But it's not like your freedom goes into just commanding soldiers, you can depending on your branch travel the world and experience cultures and fly planes/drive tanks/etc. Freedom is many things and rotc helps you make the most of it in astounding ways. After all, Jocko Willink once said, "Discipline. Equals. Freedom." Overall, I understand that rotc isn't for everyone and can be very demanding on a person such as requiring fit standards, maintaining a passing GPA, graduating with a bachelor's, etc. but the benefits of joining along with the experiences is something to remember and live by in my opinion. ^-^
