The NY State champion in the 100 & runner-up in the 200 was the 2nd-best performer in the Pacer Test in our school. He also was state champion in the 200 the year before and runner-up in the 100 the next year. The best Pacer Test performer in our school was another sprinter who ran the 200 & 400 and did not qualify for either event at the state championships, not did he run any distance races. All of the distance runners’ performances were far behind both of these athletes. After viewing all of the results for the students in our school, I concluded the pacer test is a better measure of speed, coordination, and muscular endurance, then it is a measure of cardiovascular endurance since the athletes who performed the best in the mile and up in track did not perform anywhere close to what these two sprinters did.
What is a pacer test? I went to US public schools and never had a pacer test? Is it common? We had the Presidential Physical Fitness Test (I think that is what it was called) that had things like a mile, a 50 yard dash, sit-ups, push-ups, standing broad jump, pull-ups, and maybe a few other things.
Alright here we go, the pacer test is nowadays a standard test that elementary and middle school and high school kids must take. It is basically to test your aerobic capacity and your endurance and strength in running. This is a cardio test designed to get averages of people's pacer scores and can determine the level of fitness you are at and can help coaches train you to do better. Hope this helps

Oh the dreaded beep test! I have no idea how far I went but ended up in the final two with a guy in my class (me being the girl!). I thought we clocked it but am sure that can't be right!

I did cross country and won state and we did the pacer test for fun. In 6th grade I got a score of 137 on the 20 meters beating the school district record by 21 for elementary. In middle school I got 197 so close to 200 I used to do sprinting events in track and field and dominated in those to so that’s how I did so good in the pacer then senior year of highschool I really pushed it due to cross country and got a score of 247 after that I couldn’t walk for 20 minutes and best the district record by 37 laps. I was off of the state record by 4 laps. I really feel like you need to be line a short distance runner like a 1600 meter runner with my stats to get a score like that but no I do long distances I’ve done marathons and half marathons but my favorite are 5ks and sometimes 10ks
To calculate your 20m pacer test score from your 15m pacer test score, calculate the following. [15m pacer laps] x 15 / [20]. 173 x 15 / 20 =129. Unfortunately you did not break your personal best.
