New Marine Corps commercial 2017: "Battles Won"

- The first Marine Corps commercial without "The Few, The Proud"
"Battles aren't won solely on the field
That's a common misconception
Battles are won within
Over enemies of fear
Enemies of doubt
In that place where promises are kept
Promises to oneself
Promises to one's community
Promises to one's country
In the heart of every Marine
You'll find a promise

This feels more like a movie/videogame trailer than an military commercial.

Ironic how the US Army went from “Better dead than red” to this
A lot of people are commenting about dying for another country or such. Well i want to enlist not because i will have the opportunity to become a bad ass, leader, and overall a better member of society, but because i want to give back to this beautiful country. My parents are Mexican and applied for citizenship in the 80's. They became citizens and because of that i have a way better life than i would in Mexico.
What i am trying to say is I believe you should not expect so much back from enlisting in any military branch for you already have so much given to you as a citizen. So many great amendments other countries do not have and if my country asks me to go help another country for any reason at all, i will and i would die for it because i believe in giving back to this great country that had no obligation whatsoever in giving my parents and I, a better life. I am sure many people will disagree with me but this is just my opinion and i am aware everyone has their own which i will completely respect it, expecting you to respect mine.
Danny Solorzano heard that!
Thank you ! & thank you for posting such great videos.
Matthew Watts I think a lot of people would disagree with you there bud, but that's just an opinion, not everyone is fit for the marines not everyone is about the marines some people have different taste than others and that's fine
I love every U.S. branch the military has to offer and know about the same amount of information for each and every one.
I know it depends on the MOS/Rating you choose but i have heard/read the Marine Corps are the most disciplined and well most suck-ish branch you can join and well i love a challenge.
Also my Uncle served 15 years so id like to follow in his footsteps.
I really appreciate the heads up though, i am 100% positive i am going to think of this comment in bootcamp(If everything goes right and i am able to enlist) or during my 4 year term and wish i listened to you haha but oh well at least i wont be upset about dumb shit like most kids my age are these days.
Thank you for your feedback and most importantly sir, thank you for your service.
Suckish is true. Disciplined is not. Cleaning your weapons at the armory for eighteen hours a day, for two weeks straight doesn't make you disciplined. It makes you a slave. That's the way the military sees everyone below the ranks of E6, CWO2, and O3. Also, the Marines are irrelevant to modern war. That's the reason that they spend the years of your life that you will never get back doing photo op propaganda and busywork. It's not a fucking challenge, it's an exercise in nihilism. Truly, nothing you will ever do in the Marines will make a difference. Nothing. Don't waste four years of your life trying to prove you're tough. Don't listen to your recruiter. Listen to me. I've been there. I probably spent an average of twelve hours a day "working" in the Marines, and never accomplishing anything real. The military isn't what you make it, it's what your fucking officers and SNCOs make it. Go to college and get a real degree. STEM or business have great outlooks. The only people I know that have shit jobs with degrees have lib and fine art degrees, like the ego fag who made this video. If you want a challenge, climb the Eiger north face, try to break a world record, write a book, raise a family. Do anything but join the military unless you are homeless and have no other options. I'm fucking begging you not to do it. I don't even know you and I'm begging you. Don't throw the best years of your life away for people who don't think you should have a name. Don't waste your future for the filth of the political and professional military class. Think only of yourself.

STONE WARRIOR OF LIBERTY ._.
I'm in the Army. And this commercial to this day sends chills down my spine. Marines commercials are WAY better than Army commercials by a land slide.
All the glue and crayola wax is fueling the creative half of the brain i guess
I don't know why people are complaining so much about this commercial. I honestly thought it was quite well made and incorporated much of the Marine Corps history, which is actually a large part of the Marine Corps pride; espirit de corps and history. So what that they no longer are saying "the few, the proud" and instead switched to the "promises" and "battles won" slogan. That's what you have to do in marketing campaigns, switch things up a bit from time to time. I honestly got goosebumps watching this the first time and it made me think back to my time in and still be proud about it, and that is coming from a grunt who did two deployments lol
I did my 4 years and got out, not because I hated the Marine Corps like some on here (Matthew Watts) but because I wanted to keep expanding on my pursuit of experiences and knowledge and decided to use the great gift of the GI bill to see what was over that next horizon. I'm still proud of my service and proud to still be a Marine, even though i figured out it wasn't something I wanted to make a career out of, and this commercial helped to solidify that pride. Sorry for all you old timers who want to take the Marine Corps backwards but that's just not how the military works, it is always pushing forward to what they think will help them in the future instead of going back. Just enjoy the commercial like everyone else and if a simple commercial pisses you off so much then you have much bigger problems you should look at in yourself. Also to all those out there looking to go into the Marines, if this is your goal in life then go for it! Don't let people like Matthew Watts' bitching drive you away from what you really want to do. It is a great experience and while it does have its tough times it also has its great times. It is up to you decide what experience you want out of the Marines. Always attempt to excel when you get in and don't do the bare minimum like some people on here have said, I wish I would have excelled in certain areas more when I was in. Always excel in the Marines so when you get out you can hold your head high and know that you gave it your all instead of blaming the Marine Corps for your shitty time in because you decided to be a lazy piece of shit. Anyways that's the end of my soap box rant lol but this was a good commercial and to the potential future Marines out there, just go for it, don't give in to despair, fear, or the jadedness of some Marine veterans you need to make your own decisions and come to your own conclusions. Semper Fi.

Don't let this lying idiot give you an idea of the Marine Corps which is contrary to reality. He's never been in an infantry unit, and if he has, he was a pog assigned to the unit, not an infantryman. There is no version of military service in the USMC which is not dehumanizing and pointless. If I had a dollar for every time a lying pog claimed to be a grunt on the internet, I'd be a rich man. Only a remf has an opinion like this. This moron is probably on the cadre at ocs, or the basic school. He's angry that people dare to tell potential recruits what it's really like to be a Marine. Prison would be better for building your character and body, and anything at all is better for your mind. Don't buy the line of bullshit that a fake vet or pog like andrew wants to sell you. Anything you could so with your life other than the Marines would be better for you.
@andrew hawk. Wow. It looks like we managed to trigger the supply clerk who wants everyone to believe that he was a mighty, lion-hearted infantry warrior, who destroys his enemies like a gun run from Warthog. Listen triggered snowflake, no one is buying your bullshit. No one believes you were an infantryman. Why don't you go back to brown nosing the manager at the McDonald's you work at and see if it gets you a promotion. It must have worked for you if you were in the Marines. Oh, wait. I'll bet Leatherneck got mortared while you were there, and you claimed PTSD so you could live your whole life without having to get a real job, sucking that govt tit for disability. You should apologize to the nearest tree for wasting the air it produces. May you suffer an extremely long, unfulfilled life, with only the happy memories of pretending to be a real man. I'll bet my challenge of your obviously fictitious story made you curl up with your ill gotten service dog, and cry for a few minutes before you mustered the strength to return to your keyboard. Please hang yourself, or better yet, suck start the Beretta M9 you bought at the Bass Pro Shop and tell everyone was your service pistol that you used while you were in. I'm wondering at this point if you were ever in at all. I'm sure your milsim team appreciates your service. For those who are paying attention to this little exchange, I hope you have an excellent image seared in your mind of the brainwashed animals that the Marines churn out in great numbers. The key take away from this ego fag, is that he has battered person or stockholm syndrome, if he was really a Marine at all. This guy probably got busted in okitraz fucking a passed out underage boy and has to hold on to the delusion of his own superiority. Notice how his own lies keep getting more outlandish. If we could search youtube, I'll bet he's told someone on another thread that he's a fucking sniper, or with the Marine Raiders. lol.
Proof that he is not a Marine.
"Plus I am not a SNCO I picked up CPL before I got out. Have a terrible life and go apologize to everyone you see for wasting their oxygen. Sit on a steak knife, fucking child.
Anyone joining this thread, please read my refutation of his idiotic, obviously false claims. Our poor delusional milsim enthusiast is making more ridiculous, easily refutable claims with each new post. Let us laugh at him together, but also pity his poor, weak mind, and easily bruised ego.
Matthew Watts i mean honestly I think they are laughing at you bud because you have already proven yourself to be shitbag of a Marine who probably got an OTH discharge because he was overweight. I know what all I have done, but you have done nothing and never saw combat or even left Camp Pendleton so I am satisfied just knowing you are this butthurt about an online discussion. All us combat vets know that your opinion is worthless :)
They're not buddy. Every clown like you thinks that people are laughing with you, instead of at you. All of the other "combat vets" are remarkably silent. No one believes what you have said, least of all me, because I was actually in the Marines, and actually in an infantry unit. All of the wars that our brave men have fought for freedom and liberty for not just our country but for everyone I salute you marine corps for the hard work you have been doing for this great nation and it’s people
i think this is my favorite one, hands down.
You have to be shitting me. You mean to tell me that this is Marine OCS now...!!!!! This is a bunch of pussy shit!!!
@@l.paulhudson3980 Whats wrong? Do you prefer the cheesy dragon dress blues commercial?
best military commercial i have ever seen
Thank you marines
this is much better than that new army ad from california
It is interesting artistically, but I am not sure if it is any good for recruiting.
Why do you say that?
Maybe it's the toy soldier, "You are an expendable government tool, to be used until broken and then discarded like common trash" symbolism.
I think that since this is OCS which is Officer Candidate School, they're trying to emphasize that mere brute force fighting is not the thing that wins fights since officers are basically leaders and deal with a more meta view of military matters.
Well, it is using toys that we all played with as kids in a stylized way. Young Adults making the transition to new Adults might want to put the toys of childhood behind them. Also, maybe the new adults still into toys are not going to make good marines.
purpleslog you do realize all that scenery was meant to be portraying metal right?
this is probably the best US military ad ive seen
This commercial is AMAZING. This is the reason why I want to join & I am going to graduate High School. Their is so much meaning & responsibility to this...I like that. Especially since I will have pride in what I do. And NO ONE will be able to take that away from me.
hope they pay you well to murder farmers
Remember when the bullets are hailing over you and when you're watching your friends die that the war youre fighting has no purpose and the enemies killing you were caused by your own country

I am a Navy vet, and I thought it was Awesome! There are those who get it, those who get the calling to serve, and those that just don't.That's not a bad thing, not everyone has the calling to be a surgeon or a teacher. But those of us who serve and have served our country with pride, Brothers and Sisters, We get it.
The military has fought and died for nothing more than greed and paranoia since ww2. Not a single justifiable conflict in almost 100 years. If you're dumb enough to enlist in this day and age then i don't have sympathy
@@reservoirfrogs2177 nigga you idiot? WW2 is understandable. How will you stop the raping and genocide of the Imperial Japan? The European theater is inevitable because of the fascists and communist.
@@reservoirfrogs2177 This is like the 5th comment I've seen from you, you must have plenty of time on your hands.
Way better then the new army one
One of the best Marine Corps advertisements. The music, imagery, and message encapsulates it perfectly.
GoArmy sent me here to watch a real recruitment video!
I can't hold my tear of courage when I watch this.
''battles are won within''
I dunno seems to me like battles are won with 2 moms.
Its 110 degrees here in Arizona but this video got me having them chills
Donald trump made better army ads than biden. Yall see that new cartoony one?

Bill Marriott What i din't do that you idiot.
Captain spike
That is so obvious.
You are lying terribly bad.
Excellent......❤️love from India 🇮🇳
I thought that was a new one 2021. I wonder if the marines are going to produce a new commercial highlighting my two mommies and my two daddies? The age of wokeness and confused individuals.
I think if they do, Russia might as well just invade. At least under them we might actually grow some balls.
Chewing on your crayons, while being caught in the crossfire in a fight between your two gay daddies sounds like the perfect marine to me.
@@thef0urth326 sadly I’ve come to the same conclusion
Joining in August this year. 0311, hopefully!
Don't do it kid. Go into the Air Force... get a 9 to 5 in there.... get medals for not getting your roommate pregnant in basic training... retire... get a pension...
Do it. Just don't go 0311. Be a POG, get out with life skills and a transferable experience. Don't go infantry now, it's boring. We're in a peacetime scenario, you won't get to kill anyone.
Came here to get my manhood back after watching that cringe army recruitment vid.
As a man from a country who's in a Nato alliance with America, I give respect and thanks for the help and liberation during dark times.
Thats for the American military.
But their todays decendants should be less arrogant and egoistic, thank u 🤝
