I loved this song when I was in high school- listened to Something/Anything all Christmas break in 1974. My premonition has turned out to be true regarding the meaning of this song. And I love it! They don't believe it! But they can finally see, the saving grace in me
@Elm TreeABC Pretty good insight....you could be correct. My dad wasn't all that much of an asshole but he definitely thought that a "real" job was the only way to go.... I think it went something like this...."No son of mine is going to grow up to be a no-account rock musician!!!!" Well...he was wrong and I'm still playin' at my job at 61.
I've heard a thousand songs similar to this and Todd's Black Maria is number 1! And I'm 70 so that's saying something. Todd Rundgren is in the same category as Paul Mc Cartney in terms of being versatile musicians who can do it all. Too bad Paul doesn't give Todd a call to collaborate on a few songs.
We bought this the day it came out and never stopped playing it. My Mother would say, Put that Todd on ! She’s 89 and she still LOVES HIM !
Your mother is a saint!
What a frickin brilliant album! What a frickin brilliant songwriter!
The purest of pure pop.
Kids won’t understand how awesome this was
This album is like a time machine so lucky to have experienced this when it came out

@Elm TreeABC Dang...it was a different world when we grew up.
What a great song!!! Inspired me for many years...you too??
That varispeed intro gets me every time
(Intro to this song) 'Any time You wanna have a chance to do All the fun & dance things You never had a chance to do'!
Bob I wonder if you are the Bob from Scranton, Central?
@@jamescarey5415 Yes I am James

oooos are located at 0:30, 2:00, and 3:01 in the case that you happen like them...:)
Pretty much the greatest pop song ever. Maybe. Probably. Most definitely
I bought it 1976 2 album set. Todd play multiple instruments and sang background. . Incredible talented Man.
This sounds like the theme from a 70s Sitcom
One of my fave songs of Todd. It reminds me of the struggles of someone I hold very dear to my heart. 💖
Brilliant piano sound
This song sounds always reminded me of good day sunshine for some reason, very beatles, very revolveresque
Congratulations Todd!! Way past due and well deserved!
Nixon and Todd our guys
Being a lefty bassists , singer and harmonica and little piano I admire Todd as a songwriter mostly too.
Thanks Todd for all your wonderful songs & an this one is a Golden nugget .Thanks for the inspiration. Love you Brother.
This is song makes me happy! I think I'm gonna love it!

Brilliant!
2:10 Todd at his most Laura Nyro. Love that little musical reference
bravo
Always reminded me of a revolver track for some reason
I think I wore out three copies of this vinyl (the fourth is downstairs).
This song is absolutely perfect.
yuppo!!!
I love Todd, but the intro is kind of scary qwq;
Intro bothers me a bit too always has. Song however is awesome .
Notvsire how he put all those chords together
That intro reminds me of very strong LSD!
Your comment reminds me of a ‘70’s party where while urinating i held a conversation with a little man in the sink.
