We shot this and the Thousand Secrets video in the same weekend. My dress was so short that I didn't even move during most of the band shots. In between takes, I spent most of the interim pulling it down. It was such a relief to shoot Thousand in long, flowing dresses.
I've said it elsewhere and I'll repeat it here: It's an exciting time to be a fan of this type of music. If you don't believe me watch this video again.
sahara im formerly from temple tx currently live in alvin tx. i just want to say you have a very lovely voice and i like the song. idk what venues u play but we have a "opry" here that folks come play at and from time to time folks looking for talent check out the shows. anyway i think you would do well here and if not at the alvin opry then in this area in general. i just know there have been some well known folks play at the opry here in alvin so its just a suggestion - aubrey p.
so i just saw this girl on letterman literally 5 minutes ago. no idea who she is nor the song but i saw her on performance on letterman just now and loved it. i now like her and this song.
Your show for WYEP Friday in Pittsburgh at the Schenley Plaza was wonderful - your vocals are amazing! What is up with your band? The bass player played guitar & the guitarist form the vid was awol?
Yep, the Letterman performance was bitchin' !!! In comparison, this version seems like they are half asleep ?...very slow, a bit too laid back. Would of thought these guys are way to classy for that graffitti backdrop ! Wish i could see em live !
hello ... im from texas myself. i am originally from temple roughly 60 miles from austin but now live close to htown. i gotta admit i listen to mostly country. i personally cannot stand the majority of the sub-genre known as texas music. i think it all sounds the same (use very very stereotypical "texas" sounding lyrics when explaining what they are doing such as drinking beer, fishing in the creek, working on the ranch and the band is always very twangy). they try too hard to be texan.
Well not Austin music just the kinda Austin music that i hear for the past 10 years carbon copy bullshit. This is the shit you will only hear at Antone's or the Saxon pub. It will never go anywhere. If it was something edgy and different that may live longer, but it is not. It is to nice. If there lucky they will get a Austin Music award. Something mind you real musicians in Austin could care less about.
We used to listen to her when she was in high school and sang at the little local coffee house in Wimberley. Knew she would move on up! :)

Sahara Smith...
You are the real thing, and I miss that thing a lot. Love you, sweet friend.
Wear fishnets... Always works with mini skirts!
2022 and such a great song. You have a beautiful voice Sahara Smith.
This lady has real SOUL!!!
It's like the essence of Morcheeba without the trip-hop but with that super smokey voice! Love it!
I saw Sahara and the band in January and I've been following ever since! I can't wait to see them make it big! It won't take long!
Heard this on KXT 91.7 this morning and fell in love! Will be getting Sahara's CD when it releases on Aug. 31!
Sahara is the Stella to my Astophil. I play in an Austin rock band, Hundred Visions and she's now my involuntary muse.
Really wished I could've made it to her show last weekend. But hopefully she'll show up next Saturday!!!
Heard her on KXT this morning. The lyrics really spoke to me. I can't find her on iTunes yet but, I imagine it won't be long.
Good luck to you, SS.

Phenomenal voice!!!!!!!! Sultry at its finest.
What a great find-Loved the track.

t bone burnett was the producer.
she wrote all of the songs.
great writer, wonderful performer, beautiful voice
I'm posting this on my Facebook so people will hear how killer it is!!
Awesome!

thats very cool of u. wishing her good luck
Agree with Guitar Head. The fuzzy Telecaster on Letterman rocked!!!
No doubt she'll be the next beg thing out of austin. Another fabulous female singer/songwriter.
Great!
Stunningly Beautiful!!!! Song isn't to bad either ;)
Why don't we treat it like the real thing? Why don't we sing it like a real sweet song...
dude Im in wimberly all the time. I got a lake house in canyon lake and went to school in san marcos! man she is going some where.
This song belongs in a soundtrack.
I'm loving this song....And....I wouldn't mind taking the bass player home with me. o_o Wow.
Is it me, or are hot redheads taking the country by storm? Christina Hendricks, Ingrid Michaelson and now Sahara Smith!OMG! Im in love!!

saw her for the 1st time ever on letterman last night too.
she and this song are hot! hot! hot!
gotcha thanks. i was just wondering tyvm
didn't someone big produce this album? Great ax
humina humina humina humina
I really like the feel of this song. Anyone know of other bands with this sound?
Pretty girl, pretty voice. Chill song. Makes me want to go on a road trip. What more could you want?
One thing I've noticed among friends who have heard her is that they take to the songs very quickly.
Mind you I still wish her luck regardless of what I think.
How. Do. I. Book. You??
so my question is what is it that u hear that makes you think austin music is boring. im just curious.
Try a band called "Sky About To Rain".
@Chippy... I think T-bone Burnett produced it...
@iamchyennechyenneiam Get her a damn cheeseburger. Right NOW!!
i like it, i like it!!! so sweet like honey and so smooth like silk. and damn she's so hot besides!
1:20-21 is really funny. The guitarist fake strikes a chord and her hair blows back. Now that's a powerful F-minor!
shame that the awesome guitar i heard on Letterman's is hidden in the studio recording.
/bump
i hear a little fiona apple in this
Good song, great voice, meh video.
why don't you shake me loose instead of trying to unfold me. Hot.

@fred24ish stfu perve.
Looks a bit like Shawnia Twain.
Great song and a great voice, but the director of the video should not ever work again. What a waste of video for such a great song.

who's idea was it to setup in front of graffiti, nothing against graffiti but it doesn't fit
absorbz it's an Austin thing. You wouldn't understand.
Someone feed that girl.
