I was there, fantastic event. I turned up and police at the stadium could not understand how polite the spectators where, the kiosk staff said the same, the police stood down many officers I remember. We was stood with Finish, Swedish and Danish people. Awesome memory, great racing, smell of speedway brilliant.
Kiora Kiwi! Yes, he certainly was a Champions Champion, if I can put it that way. A huge loss to the sport, and to you blokes across the ditch too. Geez, even us Aussies miss him! The whole World is a lesser place due to his loss, I kid ye not!!
What a coincidence so did I in Rockhampton! - a small world - such fond memories of the Rocky speedway meetings we attended without fail in the 50's and 60's, will have to check if I managed to get his autograph.

Ivan was fortunate to take the title in 1972. He was beaten by Barry Briggs and Ole Olsen. Fate and luck was not with them on that September night.
