- JBL Flip 5 - What's inside? In this quick disassembly video we inspect the driver, amp board, passive radiator and battery pack of the Flip 5. The Flip 5 is a mid sized bluetooth speaker in the JBL line-up, followed by the new JBL Charge 5 and Xtreme 3.

3rd terminal on speaker is actually the basket.Maybe it's some grounding for static charge removal.Maybe it makes some slight difference in sound

I'm in a dilemma over the Clip 3 and the Flip 5, both from JBL. I like the Clip 3's portability, but I also like that the Flip 5 has type C charging port, as I have a phone with the same type C port so if I get the Flip 5 it means I don't have to have so many charging wires around. Basically whichever model I get, I would use it at home (a small 60 meter square 2 bedroom, 1 hall and 1 kitchen apartment) and in the shower and occasionally bring it out for my casual biking around my neighborhood. If price is a non issue, which one should I get?
Sorry for the late response. Don't spend your hard earned money on the Clip 3, in my opinion is not worth the price. Flip 5 is a decent sounding speaker though.
How to fix if no turn on or no charging

Jbl really simplified the flip5 over the flip4.
Yeah, I wish they would have kept the 35mm jack and the protective flap for the ports. This way, with the charging port exposed, dust and fine sand can get inside and possibly damage it.

@@kl1ckfanopex955 yes if there is sand inside it and you plug the cable in that can damage it and you can't get the sand out as good

@ I don't really mind that it's a single driver honestly. The sound quality is good plus there's not much stereo separation in such a small speaker with drivers so close to each other. In this case one driver is more powerful than the two driver flip 4 setup, so I think it's an improvement in this case.

My Flip 5 wont charge or turn on , any tips ?
I think the best thing to do is send it to warranty so they fix it. If you don't want to do that you could open it and see if any cables are disconnected although I kinda doubt that's the issue.

And also less background noises.
Just connect any 2-3 speaker to a 8ohm system and you can hear how it sounds much better.
Feels like your Speaker is now 5 times as worth as before.
@@fa14bi-78 that is not true... The difference isn't even measurable.. And it depends on the amplifier and on the capabilities of the speaker, 3 ohms at 20w is fine (we're talking about a portable speaker here keep that in mind) and you can't just say 8 ohms is better than 4 ohms as it depends on the amplifier and speaker... You can't say my car is faster because it has 20 PS more, there are multiple factors just like with speakers...
