- This is my cover of track #6, 鬼龍G@キLL (KiryuG@kiLL), from the Kill la Kill OST by Hiroyuki Sawano.
I attempted to reconstruct this track as closely as possible. My favorite aspect of the arrangement is how each element is introduced one by one in the beginning, in dramatic fashion.

You are my savior! Since I got acquainted with this title, I wondered why there are no good covers on this theme. Excellent remake, maybe I just didn't notice it in the original, but for some reason it seems that in some places the music seems to stumble. (although this may be due to the peculiarities of electronic music and live music simply merged into continuous).
It remains to hear the Satsuki kid theme and I will simply die of happiness.

Amazing. Really well done with the note velocities on string instruments, I didn't know yet you can do it like that. Well, obviously you know it turned out incredible. It's so cool that you figured out the the chords and upbeated held notes that Horns 1 and 2b play in the loud section. Do you have any special tricks for figuring out the parts in these sections with a lot of instruments? I know you stayed faithful to the original, but it would have been cool to have some of the horn lines increase and decrease in volume (for example, C => D => Bb => A => Ab). The guitar and bass sound amazing, did you record it? They sound slightly ahead of the strings, for some reason. Bar 66 gives me euphoria. So good. I really love this song too, along with Blumenkranz. Thanks.
Hey, Pegasus! Thanks for the detailed and insightful feedback, it is really cool to connect with people over stuff like this!
For figuring out dense parts of songs: my strategy in approaching those parts is to listen to the song over and over again until I have it memorized and can perfectly play it back in my head. This helps me when it comes to the instrument selection and sound design. If there is one "special trick" that I do, it's to run a band pass on EQ over the reference track and listen to specific frequency ranges so I can determine what exactly is happening there, I.E. the low end, the mids, the high end, etc. It is not a foolproof method and sometimes it makes things harder, but it is just another tool in the toolbox.
Yes, I recorded the guitar and bass myself, whereas all the orchestral instruments were of course VST instruments. And also yes, the guitar and bass are out of sync with the orchestral parts. That is due to a few things: namely my insufficient guitar skills, rushing the production (I got too excited over seeing the finish line), and also not taking the time to re-write the orchestral parts for that part of the song - I just copied the exact patterns from the intro, articulations and velocities. If I had a do-over, I would absolutely redo that section with greater attention to detail.

Hey Appleman! To be honest, I've never even received any requests before. From what I know about it, Ad la lib is a solo piano piece, and I'm not sure if I would be able to do it justice, as I am guitarist and don't know about the subtleties of playing piano. I'll look into it!
