I take this song to be about a bullied child and one day hes gone due to running away or suicide, quite a mature look into a very serious problem into todays society. I believe we all grew up seeing it..

That would fit well, but he could have been forced to change schools because of bulling, or been hospitalized with mental illness, or been kicked out of school for some unfair reason. I may be reading too much into it, but I don't think the narrating voice knows where he went. It's supposed to be mysterious, I think.
