Last year in Land of the Free season 1, the guys got called in by a hunter not once but twice. He had the most hideous sounding bugle that they thought NO WAY a human could produce that sound... So they named him Doug Flutie.

It’s so fun hearing them trying their call sequences to each other. This was my first season in twenty-two years that I missed elk season. We have relocated to Australia for an expat assignment and a major change in lifestyle. I can’t wait for the Montana and Idaho footage as I have harvested elk in both of those states. I am watching the series with my boys showing them what real men look like being ethical, responsible, and legal without cussing, bullying, and bragging. Thank you for an honest portrayal of what elk hunting and brotherhood means.

I had the same thing that happened to Phelps happen to me on a Whitetail in Kansas Within a couple few days of this earlier this year. And it makes you sick when you see it. Hands and knees for 5 hours through the thickest stuff of my life looking for blood that stopped up after about 40 yards. Awesome to see you guys so positive about it!!!

The elk were really quiet early Sept in CO where I hunted too. I think the growing moon kept them active pretty much all night. That was when I heard most of the bugles. Called four separate bulls on different days that came in completely silent and I only knew they were coming because of the sticks snapping. Never got a shot and all busted due to Fluties trying to close in for their own shot. Good to know my calling was working though. Also the wildlife and scenery was magnificent with the aspens turning at the perfect time. BRO you have great content and most of us can relate to you because you seem like regular folks just like us. Keep up the good work! Trevor arrives at 3:16 yo!

Unfortunately I won't be able to find out until the 26th due to my elk season here in Eastern Oregon starting the 17th. On my way to set up camp in a few minutes. Dang, going to be a long day getting caught up with all the day by day shows after 10 days but I think I can handle it.

Dirks imitation of what the bull was doing was spot on! Who kept cow calling when the bull was so close? Sounded like it was Jason or the filmer right next to him...let Dirk do his thing...
Same exact thing happened to me this past September. I hit the bull in the no kill zone above the shoulder blade and lungs. Great blood at start and full pass though, and then the blood stopped and we had to try to track by foot prints. We checked that area two more days and nothing. I shuffled to the back of the shooter line, and when I got home I notched my tag as a reminder of what happened and to get back on the horse and improve for next year. it is one of the worst feelings anyone can go through. I know Jason's pain. The best thing to have around you is a great support system like you guys have. Very good job of showing every aspect of such a difficult situation.
I feel your anguish! Been there and know how sick you felt. You did right by the animal and tried your best to recover it or prove that he is gonna be just fine. Again, bow hunting is a game of inches. Good luck moving forward!

Jeffrey Nelson we primarily use the sawyer squeeze pouch and filter. Steve uses a life straw water bottle occasionally as well.
