The twang is a carry over from the old roping and sheeting days , back then with jute ropes if it started raining en route we always stopped periodically to check they hadn't stretched and loosened off, and rather than check every dolly you gave the rope a bang - if it twanged it was tight if it didnt......you re- set the dolly, good practice young man - we will make a wagon driver of you yet lol. As an aside I was impressed with your blind side reversing but personally I would have got the dope with that JCB tele handler to move the damn machine first before I started reversing into that yard...bet he was watching you to see if you hit it....but wouldn't move the blinding thing - I used to get things like that a lot back in the old days - before I learnt to say "eff em ....move the damn thing or I stay here till you do" grrrrr !
Impressed!! Very professional. No rip tear, methodical, safety conscious and looks after the gear. Couple of observations - the first load of re bar sees you consider the strap placement and opt for an extra strap / and note you always place the winches on the off side of the trailer, I know plenty of blokes who say it doesn't matter but it does. If you need to adjust the straps mid travel you don't want to be working on the traffic side. Especially relevant for dogs and chains - dog lets go you finish up out in the traffic! Tell the Boss your worth more money lol! Enjoyed.

Raul is an excellent driver. He certainly knows how to handle his truck, and his reversing into awkward spaces is particularly impressive I would suggest we could see some of the loading and unloading to add to the interest. A little less of the supersonic roadwork would be a great improvement.!! ,
I remember my first building site delivery - pedestrian bricks. Only past a week and I was there right in the middle of a site - I was sweating like mad but made it. That was clean reversing there 👏🏿

One would hope that building sites especially had an idea of how much room was needed for an artic since they get deliveries often, but apparently not!
@@Raul689 More straps than you needed is never a problem. Fewer straps than you needed is definitely a problem. No such thing as "too many straps on a load".

Brilliant reversing, I just got my first class 1 job after passing on a contract, not through agency, the company agreed to take me on and fully train me for 2 weeks to get my reversing up to a higher standard, I’ll be helping out the shunter for about a week and then go out to easier stores after that with another driver, looking forward to a new challenge. I have been on the class 2 tippers for over a year now. Some of these sites we get sent to are a nightmare however good experience to have, glad I done the tippers as I will never be out of work if something does not work out with the class 1, considering I have all the necessary cards and courses the MPQC, SUD CYCLING, TARMAC ONE CARD etc.
@@Raul689 it’s an alright pay however I do want to get some experience on the class 1, that way I can go on the class 1 tippers later instead of class 2, the money on the class 1 is a bit better than on tippers at the moment.

Hi Raul , thank you for another great video , I have notice that when you strap up a load you always put the rachets on the passenger side just like my late step father used to do when he was driving , but alot of drivers put rachets on both sides , take care stay safe and drive carefully 👍👍👍
Thanks James. The reason i put the ratchets on the passanger side is that in case of an emergency stop on the hard shoulder, if something gets loose, it would be safer to stay on that side and tight them up. But everyone is free to put them as they wish :) And also its easyer to organise them in the storages. All the best stay safe 👍👍👍
The platform to help strap up is grand job many times I strapped a load at McCann's yard in knockloughrim up and down like a flpn yo-yo didn't have the plastic protector's either.
Great VLOG mate, I really enjoyed that one 👍. I think the fens around Boston is more like Kansas and the central plains, when I'm there it usually smells of cabbage! I'm an owner driver courier in a van, sub-contracting by the job, usually do 10-15 jobs a week. Very similar in terms of flexibility and the 'fishing' aspect, some days I catch a specimen of a job and other days I catch a little tiddler. No 2 days are the same and it's the ultimate in flexible working. Glad to hear you like the Renault, if I do move up to trucks in the future I'd look to get a T range. Were all the ones you drove the T460? You say it pulled like a train so the T480 should be even better with the 13 litre engine instead of the 11litre in the T460. They have sorted the steering wheel/column issues in the new T range, Stavros 969 did a review on one a few weeks ago.
The first truck i drove in the video was the 530 i think. Pulled really well. I am looking for a LWB sprinter any tips on where to get a decent priced one? 😁
@@Raul689 I think the 6x2 Tranges come in 460, 480 and 520 bhp. The 460 is 11 litre and the other 2 are 13 litre (same engine as a FH460 or 500). Just the usual places, Autotrader, eBay and Facebook market place. Are you planning on using it for courier work?
Well you should have one strap for each tone. So minimum 22 i would say. I dont think i've put more than 22 to be honest. Depends of how tricky the load is
Always leave the tag axle down when leaving tight spots..they allow trailer to follow more kindly than "cut" the corner..(dont forget to lift it again once on the move..to save rubber / fuel..) 😉

The people don't really think. At 6:26 a car park at the juction. By law a car is not allowed to park 10 meter from the junction. What about if the fire brigade needs access.
Just my 2 cents, but I would've put 2 boards under 1 strap of the stacks that you did a criss-cross strapping on, like you did with that regular pallet with the black wrap. That didn't seem secure. I hope my American terms make sense!

I've never driven a flatbed.. Always wirh a fridge trailer.. Why do you put the straps through the lateral upright posts??
those are for fall protection when the guys get on top to grab the rebar to unload it

Those are safety straps or fall protection for when you get on top of the rebar. Usualy all sites require 2 on each side. Cheers

You dont do.your ratchets correctly..feed them through the top..that way you wont over burden the reel
