    Regarding gravel management - something that's worked well for me is setting up a sorter that does the standard drain all gravel that pushes into a small cargo box then a connector set to throw out - this should cause the sorter to fill the cargo box, then overflow into the connector that'll empty itself. This gives you a supply of gravel at the edge of the conveyor network but not have to trip over having an excessive amount of gravel in your cargo network - depending on game world inventory setting a large grid small cargo should be enough gravel for a large reactor - this has the issue of having to remove the sorter when you need to use the gravel but I find that less troublesome than having an unknown amount of gravel everywhere and guessing at how much gravel to keep around - obviously if you need / want to keep more gravel you could add additional cargos after the sorter

    • @TheGarageGamer86
      @TheGarageGamer86  Год назад +1

      That's a very interesting way to manage the Gravel, I'm gonna be honest I just keep all of it now, I used to try to keep a specific amount but it was never enough lol

    47:39 If you want to "dial things up" as it were and add in Reavers might I suggest you also add in Shields... or the first time you run into a reaver he's gonna hand you your butt on a silver platter. That ship is ticking time bomb WAITING to go off at the first sign of gun fire or missiles. The explosion would be very attractive to watch but you would loose everything. Shields only work so long so you're still gonna have to be cunning and wise in your survival and you may very well still get blown up but at least your ship won't be quite so vulnerable... reavers don't play around.

    • @TheGarageGamer86
      @TheGarageGamer86  Год назад +1

      Yeah the Reavers are no joke!! Once for giggles I loaded up a creative world and decided to have a go at one of the signals you see in space, my goodness the ship that spawned just destroyed my Atlas in seconds lol. But I think I did look at the shields before in my Wasteland Survival series and there was something about them that didn't work properly anymore, if I remember correctly it was that they don't deplete anymore, they are just invulnerable?

    • @brentbarr498
      @brentbarr498 Год назад +1

      @@TheGarageGamer86 I am not having those issues and I primarily use DarkStar shield mod. My shields go down when I'm taking hits. The more power you can generate the more shield strength you have but there always seems to be a bigger fish with better more powerful weapons waiting to take my shields down super fast. It gives me time to escape and evade without loosing my entire ship.. just a bunch of repairs.. lol

    Regarding mining - I like the spectator time lapse but I'd limit it to one timelapse per video or even a single trip in the miner [even if you make a half dozen trips just show the one] - it helps give a feel of continuity for how much time you've spent and what's happened and what's happened compared to a simple transition in the footage where the cut is.

    FIRST of all, I am new here, so I have no idea what your regular veiwers want, but I am a weirdo, I want nothing edited, and nothing sped up. I want to see the grind in the game, completely as is. It's a recording after all, if I get bored, I can skip ahead. But I can't skip it if you cut it out, or alter the footage. Just my two cents, and you are ACTUALLY monetized, so you should probably just keep doing what you are doing, I'm still stuck at 150ish subs.

      I've tried it before and it doesn't really help, unless you use the mod that puts a camera in the center of a connector. Even when you use the new camera, as I actually did something similar on the Manticore using a standard vanilla camera and a 2x1 tip. 😔

      Yeah I might put that mod into this world, but if I do it would only ever be used for repairs or like making sure every block on a grid is built properly. The only issue with this particular ship is that it was designed with a lot of incomplete blocks.

    As I saw your ship sitting on the ice, it occurred to me that it could be convenient to build a fairly simple plunge drill in it. You can use that when landed to dig up some of the surface, and get some stone or ice without having to use any of your utility ships.
    If you set up an event controller, you could automate the process to where you just press the START button, and the drill will stop and retract when it's fully extended or it has mined a certain amount of stuff.
    That way you can focus on mining more important stuff yourself, building, repairing, or whatever else you need to do.
    I don't really know where you could fit that plunge drill, though. I don't think it needs to extend very far, just two or three pistons should be enough.
    -----
    As for "spicing things up" by adding some kind of enemies, I _don't_ think you should include Reavers. In your Pertam series, they turned out to be more of an obstacle than an entertaining challenge. Above all, they seemed to be a nuisance to you, and that can't be good.
    I know there are other mods that add hostile encounters, but allow you to tune the challenge a lot more. I'd suggest going for one of those, unless you're ready to turn your entire production chain around to building heavy warships.

    • @TheGarageGamer86
      @TheGarageGamer86  Год назад +1

      It's definitely a good idea! But I think at this stage I have enough Ice and Gravel so the only mining I would really be doing from this point would be the stuff that is super deep underground, then again, maybe it is worth it for grabbing Ice from that asteroid! 🤔😎👌. Thanks for the suggestion! 😉
      Yeah I wanna have a look at some more of those MES Mods and find something maybe a little bit easier than the reavers haha.

    • @patrikhjorth3291
      @patrikhjorth3291 Год назад

      @@TheGarageGamer86 Yes, like I said I don't know where to fit a plunge drill anyway. That said, it _could_ be useful to add one if you intend to put the upgraded version of the ship on the workshop, for others to use in their games. Anyway, do as you will.

    • @TheGarageGamer86
      @TheGarageGamer86  Год назад

      Yeah that I could not tell you as the ship was designed by someone else and that's just the way they configured it, a lot of people have asked me to fix it, but I'm not going to bother because I don't want to spend any time on this ship since later on when I introduce reavers and such an airtight cockpit will be the least of my concerns...... 😂
