Your about to take on an Enemy (Army/Space Force) I am doubting you can keep up with by your self, may I suggest some Build and Repairs units scattered around the Base to HELP keeping up with Repair's, there also great for finding tuff that need fixing that would take you a week to find. I agree. Unfortunately, the creator of the Reaver mod has assigned a very high threat value to the Build & Repair devices. That means that if you build them, you will get more and stronger Reavers coming for you. I'm sure it's possible to dig into the code of the mod and change that, but to anyone not familiar with coding it's going to be difficult.

I don't know if the threat generation has changed recently, but I watched one of Splitsie's videos a few months ago and he mentioned this. I don't really like it. It's possible to build so many repair systems that you are essentially invincible, sure, but if someone wants to have the Reavers as enemies _and_ "abuse" the Build & Repair that way, I say let them. Anyway, not my decision, I'm not a modder.
You can use the event controller for docking and launch procedures now. (recharge batteries, stockpile hydrogen, toggle thrusters, gyros, lights, ore detector, antenna, beacon...). I also started using a sensor on my miner (to turn on drills, lights, ejectors and sorters...) when I'm within drilling range of an asteroid and for turning it all off again when I'm backing out.
10:11 I think the damage came from the piece of stone that you have rattling around when you were flying back. Perhaps you need to rethink the direction that the Ejectors are facing. 20:30 What about creating a Repair Depot where you can fly you ships into surrounded by welders, hop out and turn it on to repair all the hidden damage? There is a Modded Welder that has 4 tips that has a larger welding range. Also, put a docking camera next to your connector on your ships.

Yeah maybe I can use the build and repair mod for that, probably need to install a projector to each ship though 😎👌. Gotta admit, I have used docking camera's in the past and they rarely helped me that much, except maybe that mod that puts one in the middle of a connector 😊

Quick question, would you not consider drilling a tunnel between your main hanger to your weapons platform? Then running your power and conveyer tube's through the tunnel for that added protection. I know its a lot more work but if your weapons platform or your exposed supply/power infrastructure takes a direct hit or maybe a few kamikaze drones and renders your guns useless. Complete new to the game and I'm really enjoying the channel. Sorry had to ask because so far your work is meticulous on the details and this just seems like something you would have considered.
Oh yeah for sure, that is the plan going forward, this is just a temp solution so that I didnt have to run the ammunition to the turrets using my character 😉👌
Hope the first thing you do next episode is move the temp connector to your main ship down below the hanger, so your not parked in front of your gun array when those Reavers show up. Also perhaps add a couple of additional connectors for your welding ship inside the hanger rather than having to undock the miner.
Hold CTRL and use the mouse wheel to change the distance that you place blocks at. This will help with placing very large blocks like your weapons. It also works for blueprints in creative.
I like your full-block approach. I never really understood why in some streams people handle resources sparingly, using half blocks and plates wherever they can when you can just as easily build a decent miner and welder. Make sure you update your cleanup settings when you enable reavers, because there's going to be a lot of trash. Or maybe you could build a cleanup drone?
Yeah I like to use a lot of steel plates, makes things a little more resilient, especially when it comes to ships 😊👍 Yeah at the moment the settings are set to delete grids with less than 20 blocks, but my PC is fairly decent so it usually isn't a problem for a long time, and off camera I will occasionally go through and manually delete some grids floating around 😊 Should probably automate that process a bit more though LOL
I do have a few on the Channel already, but I kinda stopped making them as they took a lot of time and didn't gain much traction, and then this year has just been a bit of a nightmare personally 😅😅
If I was playing (which I'm not), I think I would start by ramping up the challenge with one of the other hostile encounter mods. I would then decide on a point where Reavers would appear, such as when I moved to explore a particular region/planet. Once I had tested my defences on the "weaker" enemies, I would move on to Reaver-infested space... and see how quickly I'd get my aft thrusters handed to me. That's what I would do. You should as always play the way you think would be the most fun to you.
It's funny because I was searching for a weaker opponent to test my defences against but I must have had brain fade because I forgot where the list was for all of the MES mods and what enemies are available to spawn, but I do have a fair amount of experience with the Reavers so I'm hoping it works out, we shal see though!! 😆

I will be watching the excitement and mayhem from the safety of my sofa, after all ;-) I remember you talking about the possibility to _capture_ one of the large Reaver ships in your previous series, and using it against them. I don't know how feasible that would be, but it would certainly be interesting to see you try.
Should keep the ship as an orbital defense platform for your Astroid Boys maybe set up three or four more of them around the asteroid. Keep them with smaller arms mainly to shoot down drones and incoming rockets aimed at the asteroid base and let the asteroid base do the heavy damage. I thought about the Halo Mac cannon defense platforms that was around earth when you parked it close to the asteroid.
Hangar door. If you close off the sections where it's rounded turning the straight segments into the doors. You could turn those rounded sections into armed defensive points to protect the hangar doors / hangar.

Seriously I wish you would build a drone builder and a repairer drone as long as all the resources are on the base these drones will turn around and do the job for you so you don't have to fly your ships in to do the work as long as you put your framing up the drone will turn around and build it for you
I was thinking that the astaroid draw in might have had more to do with lighting. As when you turned your camera to the right as you were originally going to pick up the first iron, I.e when you turned right you were "looking at the front of the astaroid" where the light was hitting and the astaroids appeared to draw in.
There is no such thing in the world that there are enough weapons in space engineers. What would be better if you could weaponize whole asteroids like in the expanse if the game engine would be designed that way :)
you could make more use of the event controller, specially with the "connector connected" event, I use it to se my tanks to stoke pile when connected, and back to normal when disconnected, you can also set the battery to recharge and turn of thrusters. Just careful if you use both events "ready to connect, connected", cause when you disconnect it immediately triggers the ready to connect again, to deal with it, I turn of the the controller with Ready to Connect when connected. How do you do the time lapse cameras? I mean, I know about the spectator camera, but controlling yourself from the spectator camera is a nightmare.
Hmmmmm, yeah I tried to used the event controller on one of my mining ship blueprints to do a few things but it looked like it wasn't working, so I'm not sure if they have fixed that as yet? 🤔 But the one I uploaded to the workshop is slightly different to the one in the series, it's way more polished haha 😎👌. For the timelapses I use a second computer to make them, if you see the "GarageGamer007" in green writing in the game, that's my second character on the second computer, so I record with that PC in spectator, while using my second PC to control my main character in first person mode 😎👌. Expensive, but it works lol.

They have a few more components, which means that they have a bit more hitpoints. That said, their main advantage is that they have attachment points for other blocks on all sides, unlike standard conveyors. That means that they will contribute to general structural integrity. They don't really have enough hitpoints on their own to stand up to being shot at.
can we have an upgraded version of EF-382 "Prometheus" and maybe for us to use as vanilla weapons just so we have a reference to where the modded ones would go? also why not go for weapon core mod and build and repair mod? maybe even shields mod?
I would honestly love to do that, but I need to ask the creator of the ship if I can do that as I am not the original creator of the ship 😊. Maybe in my next series I might look at the weapon core mod and shields etc, I gotta admit I don't know much about the mod to be fair 🤔
You don’t, the only way is to mine ice. It’s not much of a problem on planets or moons, there is more ice there than you can ever mine. You start to have supply issues when you get to deep space.
why does nobody ever put gravity generators on mining ships? i like to put the spherical gravity generator and set it to push instead of pull and it pushes the rocks away so i never have to worry about them.

you could slow down when aproaching a target by ponting the ship down/up/left/right then you would use more thrusters

How do you generate hydrogen for ships besides mining for ice? Is there a way to generate it from the atmosphere on earth-like planets?

...and that's why a ship designed for deep space should have ion thrusters and solar panels and reactors to manage propulsion when hydrogen is scarce.
