    I like to play a little bit of SNES before going to sleep, it cools me down after hard working day. I enjoy the simplicity of the picture rather than ps4 or any other modern consoles that would only pump me up.

    Some people are "Modern-only Gamers" while people like myself love retro games. The problem with only playing recent releases is that you will miss out on games like Zelda: A link to the Past on SNES, or Mario 3 on NES. Maybe modern gamers don't like the challenge of retro games which are harder than modern games.

    • @Sushix_Gamer
      @Sushix_Gamer  2 года назад +2

      My problem with this was I had played a majority of the games on this cartridge when I was growing up. If you’ve never played them I would definitely recommend it but in my case it just felt like living in the past. The games I hadn’t played before were ok but not worth keeping in my opinion.
      With that being said I’d like to find a retro pi or emulator to play some PS1 thru GameCube games I missed out on.

      Totaly agree! Me and my brother tried this new remake of TMNT (Shredder's Revenge) and finished it wihout saves in one try, to the point it felt kinda meh, while in the past we would spent months trying to crack just one more level in original NES TMNT games. Good times

  • @Abominabletable
    @Abominabletable Год назад +14

    Yeah, different strokes for different folks. Unfortunately a lot of modern games that come out just seem too homogenized to me. How many open-world third-person AAA action-RPG with light platforming and/or puzzle-solving elements games can one person play in a year? Elden Ring last year was such a treat... but I couldn't play the new God of War for more than an hour or so (felt nearly identical to the last one that I completed on PS4), and ditto with Hogwarts. I love a lot of modern games, but to me the truly special releases are few and far between (and are typically smaller studio or indie releases). Likewise, I cherish a lot of the classic titles as evergreen material that I can come back to over and over -- especially some of the classics that I never played as a kid. The artistry of retro game development and the skill that was necessary to rise above the technical trappings of a given console's architecture is a topic that remains truly fascinating to me.

      Well said! I agree with your take on AAA modern gaming and have taken more of a quality vs quantity approach these days whether the game be retro or modern.

    When I go back and forth between retro games and modern releases, it does take a while to get in the right mindset for each. Once adjusted, though, these old games still kick ass! It does really help when able to use save states, as far as making the games more accessible. It's worth buying or downloading the manual to get some of that extra knowledge, like how the Zelda 1 NES manual walks you through the first two dungeons, by which point you now have some items and fighting chance of moving forward.

    Even for someone that loves a lot of retro games, you gotta ask yourself… how many games on one particular system do I even like? My ideal retro game collection would end up covering little bits and pieces of systems across gaming history. It just doesn’t make sense for me to own most specific retro consoles anymore. The only exception I’ve found are modded 3DS and Wii U, just for the fact that each of them natively play 3 generations of handheld and console games, respectively, and can emulate a great deal aside from that (the Wii U in particular can play pretty much everything before it’s time, all in one box.) or if nothing else, you always have your computer.

    • @Sushix_Gamer
      @Sushix_Gamer  Год назад

      Agreed. My perfect emulation console would probably have less than 30 games taken from several different systems.

  • @Old_Man_Jay
    @Old_Man_Jay Год назад +3

    I totally get why you would get rid of it. I think the biggest issue is that you had a cart full of 900! games. Lets say....850 of them you probably didn't play when growing up (a generous assumption) so there's no nostalgia connected to them. Add the fact that the majority of the rest, like you said, don't hold up today. I have a large collection of games on my raspberry pi but each game was carefully chosen, from games that I grew up with to games that I later discovered and enjoyed. It's easy to dump a million games on a cart or emulation device but then what's the point when you most likely won't play most of them anyways.

      Don’t “add the fact.” That’s not a fact in the slightest, but a purely superficial and detracting way of pointing out how they represent the era in which they were made, a factor that should never be considered an imperfection, especially considering that games today are far more samey, busy, and nowhere near as cozy, varied, colorful, and unique as the ones here, so saying that they “don’t hold up today” is a terrible way to judge. As long as they’re fun, that’s all that matters. Saying that “the biggest issue is that you had a cart full of 900” about a 900-in-1 multicart is completely missing the selling point. Unless your standards are unreasonably high, there’s bound to be plenty of games that you didn’t grow up with that should be right up your alley, and considering that this cartridge contains the majority of the library of the greatest game console ever made, it’s the gift that keeps on giving!

All these retro pi and multi game units people are buying are just gathering dust because like you they only want to hear the jingle of the menu, die twice and turn it off again. @@atomiswave1971No way in hell is it anywhere near “99 percent of the time.” Surely, there must be a significant percentage of people curious and open-minded enough to also try out games new to them. If there are “not a lot of people out there learning how to play 30 year old games from scratch,” that’s on them for not being open to new experiences, or perhaps on you for underestimating people’s willingness to do so. You’re letting your 100s of games go to waste. What do you mean “like you”? I don’t “only want to hear the menu jingle play, die twice and turn it off again.” When I have access to a selection of games like this, I want to make the most of it, especially when it’s on the greatest video game console of all time with a rich and varied library to boot. Even with all the SNES games I’ve played, there are so many more I’d love to try out. Now that I think of it, all the over-generalizations you’re making must stem from you failing to understand that not everyone is you, especially considering that you’ve incorrectly assumed how I approach multi game carts like this just to prove your terrible point. You and those “100s of people” you talk to don’t realize that you’re sitting on the gift that keeps on giving.
