The disrespect and beating Mel has been getting the latest years has been outrageous and disgusting. Mel is one the greatest actors directors human kind has ever seen. This film looks like it has the same quality and feeling as Braveheart. Respect brother Mel!!! YOU ARE BACK MAN!

His two greatest movies (in my opinion) are Braveheart and Apocalypto. Honestly I was a bit disappointed by Hacksaw Ridge. It's not a bad movie, but it's very by the books war movie. Very Spielberg-like, but not as good as Spielberg. And I want something like Apocalypto tbh, something that feels authentic and immersive, and in my opinion Mel Gibson mastered this unique style of moviemaking. I hope he returns to it in his next picture.

Apocalypto is one of the most underrated movie of all time. I absolutely love that movie. Mel is on of the best directors right now.

A nice movie about that is Captain Corelli's Mandolin (from the same name book) with Nicholas Cage.

He conquered his demons, broke the chains, fought tooth and nail, and walked into the fire of Hollywood, gloriously returning as the legend that he is. Keep it up Mel, you still got plenty of life and talent in you, and I am supremely excited for the next film under your direction.

I've only ever given out three 10/10 scores to near-perfect movies in my lifetime. Hacksaw Ridge was one of them. Congrats Mel on the Golden Globe nominations, Oscars are next. :D

Mr. Gibson is one of my favourite filmmakers. I had expected a lot from this new movie. What I saw, what I heard and what I felt is beyond words. Just this little piece that is demonstrated here is enough to give me some of that feeling which is impossible to describe. 10/10.

Watched the movie. Shocking, intense battle scenes that make you flinch and a story which pulls at your heartstrings. Yet another great piece of Mel Gibson (e)motion picture art.
Hacksaw Ridge was easily the greatest movie I have ever seen I honestly was moved after the movie I just sat in my seat silently for maybe 8 minutes after the movie was over before I could get up a leave.

Regarding some comments below, Mel has always been energetic or (if you will) hyperactive. No matter how far back one goes in his talk show appearances he's very energetic, the opposite of someone like (for example) Hitchcock, was very controlled. I doubt if one could do everything this guy has done without having reserves of energy, though Clint Eastwood manages it.
