the only interview where jimmy seems genuinely interested in his guest lmao
My thought exactly !
Was about to say the same
“Don't fucking Jimmy me”
Probably legit questions... Getting Quentin to give scripted answers would be difficult I imagine
Had to stop watching a minute in. 15yr old questions? Fuck off.
Imagine knowing him as a video store guy, and then he became internationally famous director.
Anvar2308 man .... I would so try to make him my mentor
I did … not really … I lied … I'm sorry … I just wanted to be cool. 😖
I did. This son of a bitch stole my idea for Pulp Fiction!!!
MrGenexxx Every movie is basically the same movie but slightly remixed
I did!! Swear!! I'm from Hermosa Beach and the store was next door in Manhattan Beach!! I used to go there for silent and independent movies!! I'm a surfer girl, he was a dork to us 😂
I swear he is 12 years old talking about his favourite toys
That's exactly what it is
Thats beautiful
Found the Brit
Is this coming from a 13 year old?
That's a beautiful thing.
"He's the only guy I know who needs cocaine to stop talking" - Brad Pitt at the New York Film Critics Circle this year
Doing drugs is the least of his crimes

It's a sign of a.d.d
@@jorssu13 You got him good.
electron which u gotz on him?
Is jimmy okay? He wasn’t laughing hysterically at everything in this video
He finds Tarantino interesting.
@Jay Turani lol might be true
Do you miss the usual imbecile?
Joshua Pierre because Quentin did the job for him:)
QT is imposing, interesting
Quentin is so charismatic and interesting that Jimmy forgot to fake laugh.
@@makaveli7145 Yes, but it was a LOT LESS than usual.
Some would say annoying lol
Makaveli 7 It's actually pretty funny.
if you don't admire quentin tarantino and all he's accomplished making movies through sheer force of will, there's something wrong with you
@@makaveli7145 i find it completely normal, nothing fake there
Tarantino is one of the most electric personalities out there. No matter who interviews him he’s going to come jazzed up and passionate about whatever he’s talking about.
I was about to comment the same thing. I love how passionate he talks
Even more passionate when someone knows exactly what he's talking about. I thought his head was going to pop when Fallon mentioned the Snickers lol
he got that sweet coco goin
More like coked up
Brendan Little he’s an aries
"Hey Quentin how are you doing today?"
40 minutes later
"and Yojimbo was Kurosawa's most important film because..."
loll - that goes for Kevin Smith too
Hahahaha!!!
I think you mean Seven Samurai.
* I think you mean 5 minutes later
Lolllllllll
I love how Tarantino always talk like he has injected caffeine in his veins
Its cocaine
He takes speed
Cocaine is one hell of a drug.
It's called zero inner dialog
Its called passion!
Take a drink every time Quentin says "no" when he means yes.
Lmfao
That "ya,no" thing drives me nuts.
Yeah that's irritating
Koreans do that too
I like this realistic Jimmy. He’s not laughing like the Joker at everything. It’s real and down to Earth.
because hes starstruck maybe. like when dick cavett met bergman.
benjamin bjørklund usually when Jimmy is nervous or starstruck he just laughs
Probably bcuz quentin wouldnt put up w that shit lol
When he was doing late night before he got the tonight show, i always thought he was a great interviewer, I think the pressure of the tonight show messed with his charisma and the guests got bigger. He’s definitely heard people’s criticisms of him and I hope he has tried to make a change in the way he interviews people. I’ve always thought he has the potential to be second to only johnny carson, just needs to push past the nerves.
Jimmy's not laughing because he didn't have his gourmet coffee in the morning.
I like how Tarantino instead of making jokes so the audience laughs, he's basically just having a conversation with Jimmy.
jimmy is looking at Quentin like he is a god
Well he is
@@nomad639 well well well ;) what do we have here mmhmm you've been a very naughty boy -licks lips- you need to be punished
@@nomad639 oh that's a shame. Why not?
Jimmie Dimmick when you idolise other men as gods you immediately diminish your own character
@@benjones7643 I wasn't being serious about it obviously.
But I also don't believe in Gods
The only person Jimmy can’t talk over
Lolol!
I think they call it cocain but i ain't sure
Finally an interview where Jimmy isn't talking over his guest constantly.
A lot of times he's trying to "punch up" the guest's banter to make it funny. IE: the audience is there to get some laughs. And, the studio execs have probably told him that if a guest drones on, he needs to interject something "witty" every 10 seconds to keep the audience from losing interest. So, I don't fully blame Jimmy. He's a cog in the wheel of big entertainment ran by execs trying to pander to a lowest-common-denominator audience.
QT won't let him.
I’ll fix that ...
BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!
It’s hilarious how many videos have comments like this
Quentin - "you can't just recommend any movie to anyone"
Jimmy - "do you have a go to movie you can recommend to everyone?"
Quentin - ......
Yeah Jimmy’s a dumbo
yeezyhendrix Yea jimmy is a gumba
But then he answered after Jimmy gave his.
So is Quentin a Dumbo too?🤡
Why do people always have to nitpick shit. Who gives a fuck?
Jimmy: Do you have a go to movie that you recommend to everybody?
In QT's head: All of mine
Why did he ask that when Q already answered that question?
😂
I did expect QT to say this. Lol
Nope! If You'd actually seen any of the documentaries on Tarantino or interviews with him You'd know that Sergio Leone and Sergio Corbucci-westerns are his absolute Go-To-Movies!!
@@jackcoltrane5532 the kill bill scene in the chapel is pretty much his western-ish look on theses guys !

I like how Quinton‘s time as a video clerk informed his career as a director. Knowing how to satisfy different tastes, his style is somewhat-based in a customer service approach to making a quality film.
QT seems like he doesn’t even feel like a celeb. He seems outside of Hollywood in his own realm and I love it.
Oh give me a break! Son of a bitch disrespected Bruce Lee in his stupid movie just to prove that he could get away with it. He's got his head stuck very deep in his ass.

I love how Quentin Tarantino is the only one I've seen on the tonight show, who is just talking about what he wants to talk about and not just thinking about his image or what the audience wants to hear or trying to be funny and talking towards the audience no, he's like yo Jimmy haven't seen you for a while alright enough chit chat movie number one...
Well done Jimmy! Actually a captivating conversation; seems you're mastering your craft.
Wouldn't say he's mastering it, more like taking baby steps.
The fake laughter is a deal breaker.
Hopefully this trend continues.
@@thefrogking8574 Fallon is more or less unwatchable. He seems like a likeable guy, if he only got real he could have something good.

@@theuniversewithin2065 He's real, he just laughs at everything-I think its a reflex or something. He does do a really good job here; maybe its just a factor of Quentin Tarantino doing almost all the talking, which he is wont to do.

I worked at video stores for 15 + years (part time and full, including Blockbuster) and it was the best job ever. And I was in the military for 20 years as an Air Traffic controller and finally as a telecommunications specialist but I think that being a video clerk was my crowning achievement 🤣.
Quentin recommends Hands on a Hard Body: The Documentary. There. I just saved you 5 minutes of your life.
MrKschro The irony is you saved me 5 minutes but the documentary wasted 137. Awful documentary.
Thank you.
Thanks
@@Bonio84 Amd thanks to you too

I love Quentin. He’s the same adorable movie geek he was the first time I saw him speak in 1992.
Quintin is my inspiration as far as what a person should strive to feel like… because he seems to be so enthusiastic about films and he did made his dreams come true and he’s appreciated for his work…. And man isn’t that the biggest goal anyone can have??? His energy is amazing..

What I love about Quentin is that he learned how to make movies- by watching movies! Sure every director does, but his storylines are so advanced and thought out that it’s fascinating. He’s also passionate about his work, he KNOWS that his movies are good, he’s charismatic while being confident which is the best combination.
I’m a writer and I get a lot of my ideas from Quentin, such a huge inspiration.
Quentin: saying whatever
Jimmy:
When watching any Tarantino interview, take a shot every time he says “alright” while explaining something
The audience is just there.
I live next to Sundance and went to the bar there for a drink last year with a friend. Quentin was there having a drink and I got to meet him. He was my favourite director of all time before and this just sealed the deal. He’s like a nerdy sexual teddy bear. Hard to explain. It was easily one of the top moments of my life 🙌🏼

It's so charming to see this old-timey style interview, where they pre-plan the questions.
"So uh, I guess you see people at these parties you haven't seen in a while... hint hint, remember what come next..."
For a second I thought he was going to recommend his own documentary.
I like this interview because it feels like it’s an actual conversation and like they’re the bestest of friends lol
They have the exact same energy OMG
this is the best interview jimmy has ever done, finally understood that he needs to listen, then talk
"If ya commit to it.. you're gonna love it at the end." Best TAKEAWAY EVER.
This seemed like a genuine conversation and it was really magnetic. Nice when Jimmy isn’t trying to make it about him.

This was a really awesome bit. Loved to see these two former video store clerks reminisce about the past. Thanks for uploading!
"Do you like winning awards?" - spectacular hard hitting question by Jimmy Fallon
Discover Montréal soon he’ll be moderating Meet the Press
Jimmy Fallon is a great interviewer. He knows when to ask a relevant question and when to let his guest talk uninterrupted.
I love it how Quentin takes his time really think, heaving a few moments of "dead air".
One of the few times Jimmy has actually been himself. How much better is it to watch when someone’s being genuine?!
I concur with the recommendation of Hands on a Hardbody. Simple premise, well shot. Weird and wonderful cast of characters. My favourite is Benny, the mystical cowboy who appears to have gotten all his wisdom from Hands on a Hardbody competitions.
I aspire to be like Benny
Jimmy: How about this, Quentin?
Quentin: Yeah, but no!...
Jimmy: And what about this?

So Quentin was essentially the living representation of the netflix recommendation algorithm
"The Alec Guiness Ealing Comedies"
"I was Andrew Sarris and the video archives were my Village Voice"
I think Tarantino lost 99% of his audience there!
Cool that he mentioned Guinness & the Ealing Comedies & yes probably over the heads of most of that audience
There is probably a big age thing with the Ealing films and probably an American vs British thing too. I'm in my 40s... So films like that were on TV when I was a kid like Passport to Pilmico, Lavenderhill Mob, Cruel Sea and Kind Hearts and Coronets. Its weird because on the flip side at the same time you had Starwars, Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters so those films were pretty dated in the early 80's, Tarantino's video store must have had some pretty weird stock to an American audience.
Including me.
Yeah only smart chaps like yourself have any class. The rest of us are jus plebs and are too dumb to know any better. Get over yourself
I bet a lot of people looked them up after the fact, though.
Maybe Jimmy laughing hysterically is actually a coping mechanism for him not liking or really caring about the guests he’s interviewing
The Greatest Story Never Told, thanks for the recommendation Quentin!
you can see the fire in both jimmy and quentin's eyes when the talk about the documentary film
He was famous before being famous. That's the secret to success.
He also got famous living in a place where people get famous. If Quentin grew up in Mobile, Alabama he would not have not had the same luck.
I love him. He talks so much but he’s so passionate that I wish I can have a conversation with him about film.
I feel like I’m just watching two friends chat and not a talk show
"The film critic of the neighbourhood"- best description of a videostore clerk I have ever heard.

This man is very unique and even aside from his masterpieces, he showcases brilliance.
Every SINGLE time you listen to QT, you learn something new. I dare you to watch ANY video he's in and not learn. If we have one true, authentic cinephile on this planet, it's him.

I saw Quentin at my hotel in Palm Springs and it was amazing! Awesome awesome guy as an aspiring filmmaker, WOW!
I want QT to cast Bryan Cranston of Breaking bad Fame in a movie. The intensity will intensify.
The best thing about him that he doesn't look at Jimmy's eyes. Wonderful.
how could it have been his go-to recommendation? It came out in 97! he had already made Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. I don't think he was still working at Video Archive at that time!
Paul-Antoine Fae Watch the interview again....
This is by far the best I have seen of Fallon

This is one of Jimmy’s best interviews ever
I'm just imagining somebody watching this who crossed his path at that video store thinking now, "hey, that's that guy from Video Archives who wouldn't shut the fuck up about movies!"
The passion he has for cinema is so great.
