  • Tens of thousands of 1st-year students are confronted with the harsh reality of lack of accommodation at tertiary institutions. The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has received almost 150,000 applications from first-year students, but it can only accommodate about 9,000.

    The whole matric pass rate was a scam. Passing with less than 40% while the varsity minimum requirements is +50%

    I get it's sad, but wasn't that always the case, just because you qualify doesn't mean you ger accepted... It's university. Next best is going to college. Goverment is to blame for promising these poor kids everything and the harsh real world kicks is.... Poor kids are camping out on the streets1

    It's so sad. I'm a current Masters of Education student at CPUT and I know all too well about being on a waiting list, back then I had not applied and they could only accept 10 people from a list with hundreds of hopefuls. I was one of the ten.
