Just going on the thumbnail (I will watch later.. work now) I totally agree, snails and Otto catfish keep the tank immaculate.. I would add that cherry shrimp are also a great addition, I have so many cherries that I to give them away to my students.
Keep your Ottos in groups as they love company, and don't worry about the swarm of cherries eating all the algae wafers as the ottos will nudge them out of the way if they want to nom down on some wafer.

I 100% agree, I mention Neo’s at the end too, I love having them in my tank too. Ottos are so fun to watch. I definitely agree with the noms on the waffers.

i would add that you should not add otos to anything less than 16-20 gallon (16 is bare minimum imo) and keep them in groups of 4 or more. they need a larger tank than most nano fish because they need a large amount of wood, stone, plants etc to graze on. the more surfaces in your tank growing biofilm the better for these little guys. without enough food they will start chasing other fish trying to suck on their slime coats like a pleco would if it were starving. My go-to algae eater for 10 gallon tanks is a colony of neos, they clean up so well! I would not add a small pleco to a 10 gallon either, bristlenose and other ancistrus produce too much waste in that size tank imo.

I couldn't agree more. I mention neos at the end too. Always stick to the inch per gallon rule for fish.

Otocinclus is less hardy and forgiving about water parameters then bristlenoses pleco’s. Do your research if they are suited for you. Also I do not agree about pleco’s being not so much on the glass. I have 5 tanks of 100 to 300 liters and tanks for more then 30 years. I never cleaned the glass in my pleco tanks and still don’t, and I have bristlenoses in all my tanks. Also do not buy any fancy looking pleco or the common pleco. They can easily get to 60 cm or more. The Ancistrus or bristlenose pleco stays about 10-12 cm max.

In my tanks they stick more to the Anubis and wood than the glass maybe at night they hit up the glass.

I would've added them but I haven't had any experience since I have no tank sizes over 20G 😢

Anyone else just now realize you were saying algae wrong this whole time or just me? 🫠
