I deleted all the other growing channels and only kept this one. I understand what is being taught. Thank you.
So I found Great results using the light from a window. I made a "shrooms room" and have all my tubs on a dresser. They tend to grow towards the light and about halfway through fruiting, I flip the tub to try and get an even growth. Easy enough I just x'ed out the light situation and let mother nature do her thing. Cheers

Natural sunlight is the best. It comes with an on-point timer and all. 😜
they are growing towards evaporation of water on the surface of the substrate
could be wrong not a mycologist
Strange how mushrooms grow with natural light....almost like that occurs in nature without fancy electrical set-ups...
Yeah, I think that I’m gonna do that because this video is just killing me.
I really think your videos are informative and I appreciate them. I use two 4 foot 6500 watt grow lights. The tub is much smaller and I lay them flush over the top of the tub. My take is that light is a natural predator of mold. So, roughly 12 hours a day I have the lights shining down across the tub. The 12 hours is in two 6 hour phases. I truly think it naturally disinfects the environment because I mist freely and never have any problems. Maybe someone can corroborate my feeling about light. Anyway, keep up the good work and I appreciate you bringing these topics out for such enjoyable discussions.

Light is life, baby
Natural lighting = better vibrations and energy in your fruits.
sure
My thoughts are since we are like mushrooms, we don’t need light to live, we can get all our nutrients through food even if sunlight conversion of some minerals work better the same can be said for our fungi. They can live just fine without light but WTF wants to? Just like us they react to to the light, move toward it, grow denser and happier. I talk to my shrooms and tell them what I’m doing for them and why. I’m sure some may think this sounds insane but I honestly believe they are sentient and if they’re trying to talk to me than I’m trying to talk to them. To form a bond and I think they grow richer in compounds and alkaloids when not just surviving but living. Like you said man, you think like the mushy !! Love and light yo !!
Human may be able to get nutritions from just food and live in dark , but that does not mean the Sun is less than Magic , yes i said it . Magic exists , if you think your brain has an explanation for everything well tthink again hahaha , just bcs we can get vitamin d from a damn lime , it does not mean we are better off with no sun hhaha , Nature is a wild mother with wild rules which you can not cheat ;)
@@My3elium we are in the same level my homie 💚🤙🏽 it’s all magic and no one really knows anything but also knows everything 👁🧠♾🍄
Bruh you need sunlight?!?🤔
Should i play happy music?
Do you tell them your going to tear them from their home and devour them? You feel any guilt in manipulating them just so you can consume them? Just jokin btw. U do u
Thank you again for another great video!
Thank you!
Great set-up! Highly recommend a 4-pack of smart outlets, I got the heavy duty Treatlife 1800w 15a mainly for my hotplate but also lights/fan and the app is awesome.
Great video and this setup is awesome.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video series. Greetings from Chile!
T5 florescent is another way to go can get a more red budding bulb. Low heat low power usage can mount on side.
you give great information thank you. we all learn together
Glad you're on LBRY. I will find you there. I've been growing for years and it's always nice to hear fresh ideas from other knowledgeable growers
Happy to connect you too brother! Thanks for the support.

I started with horticulture and botany and opened an LLC called Hollistically Sticky Consulting LLC, I ran a cannabis grow consulting firm that helped both private and commercial grows establish their grow setups. I made a genetics that was 15ft tall and put off 5lbs at least. After I got bored I decided to step it up to mycology and started a lab. Also RUclips Isn't going to be censoring mycology videos anymore as states are legalizing the P. Cubensis, just lioke when they legalized cannabis in other states they stopped removing cannabis videos because it's legal to grow mushrooms in several states and municipalities nationwide. If they remove videos pertaining to legal activity it's a big deal. Cubes are now the same as Lions Mane and Cordyceps, Legal so keep uploading you'll be absolutely fine mi amigo.
Treehouse,I'd love to pick ur brain and possibly acquire the strain you created.it sounds like something I'd vibe with.appreciate you bro.
Your awesome role I really enjoy watching your videos please keep them comingYour awesome role I really enjoy watching your videos please keep them coming
Thanks and will do!
Im going to get a better light set up. I know when I used lights it made a huge difference in pin coverage and growth. I got canopies when using lights, but the fruits don't grow as tall. Not using lights, I got bigger fruits, but chaotic and more sparse growth. Overall though, I got way more yield with lights. I would rather have consistently large weight yields then have a couple of cool looking large fruits less often.
💕 first
Great channel 👏
Bro my ape have exploded with growth just following everything you say
how many dry grams do you get per tub after all the flushes?
The 🐐
I don't know if I'm the first to ask this but I was wondering. ..how did you come to choose your name MycoTrophic? The Myco part is obvious but Trophic....just had me curious.
Enjoy your content, your time in putting it together, your knowledge and your personal insights and humor. 🌟
“(of a plant) living in association with a mycorrhiza or another fungus which appears to improve the uptake of nutrients.”
Thank you so much for your information, about to start my first culture, I’m so nervous
you got this!!!
When do you introduce light? Directly after the mycelium goes into the tub?
Hi Love your videos. Super helpful and learning alot. Now Im getting an small growtent. And a bit confused about what lightning. How big my light source should be? I want an 6500k and waterproof, cuz I will get an humidifier to connect to my tent. My tent is 120x60cm and 180cm high.
Thanks so much for all the videos, advice and the wonderful way in which you present your information. I have a question. I am still a newbie. I am developing a one quart spore solution. If I use half the solution, can I make a new bottle of solution and add some of the mycelium from my first bottle to the liquid in the second bottle and continue mycelium development in this way? This would save me money in the long run as right now I purchase spore syringes from a company in Arizona.
I am now following you as well on Odysee as well. Nice set up there.
Newbie with a question, how do you have tubs spawning and some fruiting don’t they need different temps?
New to your channel. Awesome. Thx
That's awesome... I'm trying mushrooms since I have excess equipment from my personal cannabis grow. Im just going to order blocks from a company here in Canada.
How do the lights you linked hold up in high humidity? I need them for my 4x4 grow tent.
Hi I'm intrested in using a uvc light to sterilize the air and invironment but not sure if it's good for fruiting
I started an outdoor grow in a 10ftx4 hickory tree that's half hollow like a giant canoe and I put gobs of horse manure straw gypsum and aspen dust probably like 70-80lb of sub and 5lb of colonized rye with Sub Tropicalis
Hello! Great video. Just wanted to add some supporting topics. I'm not sure if you already mentioned but I read somewhere that certain wavelengths of light will increase the vitamin D content in the mushrooms. Something to the idea of having to grow and dry them under certain light spectrums. I believe I also read that the light can affect the hormones in the mushrooms and also cause phototropic response where the light tells the mushrooms which way to grow.
With your lighting on just one side,do the mushrooms lean toward the light or do they grow straight up?
This man got tubes on tubes
do you run an air purifier in your grow space? I bought a "Medify Air MA-25 Air Purifier with H13 HEPA Filter" just to try and add another form of protection from contamination since I do not own a flow hood. I'm new to this and have been learning a lot. Would it be wise to keep my air purifier running around where my monotub grow will be? Or is this to much air flow in the room? It sounds like it would be a good thing but, again, im new and looking for insight lol.
🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄 5 mushrooms for you ❤
Question- as I'm using The Window for lighting on my new mushrooms will supplanting it with a grow light for a few hours help or speed-up growing time????????????
Can't wait for my spores to arrive man..
I thought they were not huge fans of the leds? Is cfl 6500k better?
I see you have lights on also when your colonizing is it just for video or does it not actually affect the colonization process? Thank you man love your content!🤙
First timer here. First grow is in Fruit and been 6 days. I am going to pass out from Holding my Breath. LOL hahahah Fingers Crossed
with a modified tek like this do you ever mist and fan? also what kind of tape do you use for your tubs
I have a video on this topic
Do you keep them in the dark before you put them into fruiting or 12 on 12 off
I keep my tub in an empty kitchen cabinet until fruiting then put the tub under a table by a window. Seems to work well.
I think lions main is a slow grower and I think it likes slightly colder Temps
I have an open fruiting setup and accidentally set the timer to on after initiating fruiting a few days prior. They’ve been on for 36 hours :( How bad is the this and do you think I fried the room?
I think you should buy the kind that has fade diode that way it changes colors, so never stays the same. Wonder if they would like that.
My lights are 6000 instead of the 6500. Do you think it makes that much of a difference or should I upgrade for the extra 500.
I think you’re good 😎🙏
why not have the lights above the mushrooms instead of on the side since they grow towards light?
Howw Having the lightes on the side of your tubs wont direct the mushrooms toward it ??
I think that if you calculate the light spectrum you will also have to calculate the light transmittance of the growing container
As far as the 12 hours on and off. Is that only while fruiting or while my tub is colonizing is that fine as well.
Do you need to do 12/12 for the lighting while it's colonizing? Or is it better to keep it dark
Dark
Opinions on Paul stamets talking about how mushrooms that grow in dark conditions are more dense in psilocybin?
It would just seem if they didn’t need light they wouldn’t grow towards light. Definitely an interesting topic.
@@Mood138 that doesn’t mean anything it could be just out of evolutionary reasons. It makes sense that mushrooms want to grow up/to light so that they can release their spores as high as possible. They use it for orientation
Yeah.... ole Paul is slipping a bit in his later years
This is house of mycology! I have one single light in my closet and I got it from Midwest grows it’s a mushroom light how many do you think I should have! They all have light!
I never made lions mane LC but I know they colonized grains way faster than what I’m used to and looked a lot different Lighter wispier mycelium but as soon as the jar was colonized it was trying to start fruiting in the jar.
What’s good, quick question when do you start the lighting schedule for the fruiting phase ?
It’s doesn’t matter. Because as you can see he has the “blue tape” tubs colonizing to 70-80% then he fruits “white filter patches” but as you can see he has all the lights on for everything. It doesn’t matter but mainly I’ve read that you want it I’n darkness during colonization because some bacteria need light to grow. But when it’s time to fruit at your substrate is 80% “white” that’s when I turn lights on 12:12. But that’s because I have only fruiting tubs going. I don’t have 12 colonizing and 12 fruiting. Just 12 colonizing and then when it’s time I fruit. I do batches like twice a year. That’ll last me.
@@rg.milkman8056you have vids ?
Are you colonizing your tubs next to the lights as well?
Not the boss but yes
I noticed you are growing some TAT Ghost i am curious as to what substrate you use. I mean there is substrate for wood loving mushrooms or manure substrate. Any help from you or the Myco family would be appreciated along with any other advice on this topic ....thanks in advance Michael
So from my understanding from what I learned in school while working on my certification in horticulture, You're correct in the fact that mushrooms are a different kingdom and even though they don't photosynthesize the way plants do they can still benefit from light. However, as far as spectrums go. They do share some similarities with horticulture base growing in the sense that blue light is going to have an effect on mycelial growth (Veg growth) and red light is going to have more of an effect on fruiting growth. I'm actually experimenting with this right now. I have a bunch of tubs I just started this week and I'm going to be turning the blue light on today and once all my tubs have pin sets I'm going to switch to red light, then on my next round of tubs I'm going to just try doing full spectrum the whole time and see what kind of difference it makes. I'll let you know what results I come up with.
Eh boss how’s the experiment do
This is my first run and I have a all in one grow bag fully colonized and in a monotub on top of perlite and tinfoil! Do I leave it in the dark until I see pins?
Regular light it will grow, don’t purposely close it off unless smell of something is strong
Question: would the mushies grow towards the wall since they follow the direction of light? Would you want them above/on top facing the tub?
I was thinking the same thing
When should i introduce light to my tub
At what stage do you introduce lighting?
Is it true that blue/red light is better for potency and growth
How do you handle the spore release from the tubs so it doesnt spread to your house
I don’t let them sporulate
what do you do when you see pinning an inch or so under the soil and not popping up through the surface? I'm seeing baby caps about a half inch below the soil... it's making me nervous.
How can you see it if it’s under the surface? Maybe you packed the surface of your cake too tight and they can’t breathe
@@DannyKapatrikor too loose. The mycelium wouldn't want to fruit up under if it was tight and cut off from direct oxygen
Why are your lights on the wall? And not directly above your fruiting chamber? Also does the side closest to your lights get bigger mushrooms?..
He has solid lids so the light wouldn't shine through. I would probably have clear lights and mount the lights above.
Hey question with a statement first.
So I see people use a casing layer going into fruiting and see people soak between flushes but I don’t see anyone doing a casing after a third or fourth flush as a way to re feed the mycelium.
I recently tried and used Un sterile vermiculite and brown rice flour.
So far is been working good and the new mushy are the size of the first flush and not little tiny like the third flush was.
What do you think yo?
Thanks in advance. Love and light yo
i dont do any of that, just heavy mist and let it rest. they get smaller after every flush.

The light helps evaporation n humidity
Just wondering, once you add the colonized grain to your substrate and transfer to the mono tub. Do you need to keep the mono tub in the dark for the substrate to colonize?
No
You don't need to, but I would. Light can cause algae to grow in the tubs or bags.
How can you measure the potency of the mycelium?
As far as light gies.....How's does putting them next to a window work? It's natural 12 hrs of natural light. Just your opinion pls
How about lighting during colonisation?
I just got a smart light that you can control the kelvin range from 2700-6500, the brightness and is programmable. I got it set up to gradually get brighter and gradually dim over a 14 hour time plus it starts at 3500k and ends at 6500k how I have it set now. I got a couple 6qt tubs I just put in one tent and will start getting the fancy light cycle in the morning. The other tent has a regular 6500k led on a timer 12/12. Wish I had more space and time but it’s fun to play around and try things Any suggestions I should try for the light schedule.
Correction. It’s 3000k -6500k
Wanted to ask best conditions and temps and lighting per stage...
Germination
Layering of substrate
pinning
Fruiting........
Would truly appreciate a response 🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Bro I FUCKING LOVE THE CONTENT 🧠🫀👁🍄
Thanks Mal!
Could I use purple light at night
So during colonization , your tubs are in the same light conditions ?! 🤔
It's fine
If you really want throw a towel over the colonizing tubs but once you get more than 5 tubs you'll find it's not practical
Is ambient light through closed blinds enough or do I need to upgrade? I’m planning on getting that light set up.
yes thats all they need
@@MycoTrophic thank you for ALWAYS getting back to comments. I know your busy, but thank you.. truly thank you for all your comments. I’m following you now on Odysee and soon more will be there friend. Take care

What was the first beat in the intro? Super fire
I have a bathroom with a skylight would that be ok
Odysee is a great platform.. where ever Owen Benjamin is allowed is sound! cheers for the vid!!
mate I've just got into growing my own mushies, can I find a way to grow some Elysium I think that's how u pronounce it, but basically mushroom spores ect
Hey man, how about at sterile tek vid?
I’ll put it on the list
How do you make the liquid medium blue?
that actually wasnt intentional, it was from throwing agar wedges in that were on a blue gar dish.
Thanks so much, that technique is very interesting to paint the colored agar 👌🏿, would you give me the formula for preparing that agar? 🙏🏿
@@eduardoromerocano1779 yes ill be doing a video soon
Super 🔥
Will I find is all of us old growers that have been growing for years cannabis we all switched over to growing mushrooms 😂 that's hilarious.
Spectrum of light i cant logically or scientifically come with a reason why that would affect growth. However i do believe light can play a huge beneficial role during fruiting by aiding evaporation on the surface of the substrate as well as contribute to temp changes which are signaling conditions for many species to for fruiting bodies. I may be wrong. Not a scientist and running my first flush ever now.
Seems to make sense though since after it rains the sun would play the same role as the light in nature
Where do you get your spores from? I wanna grab some genetics like yours🙏🏻
i recommend inoculate the world best grower
How much grain do u use, half the weight of ur sub ?
ive been experimenting, but now im up to 3.5-4lb bags
@@MycoTrophic thanks buddy again brilliant video, u have a great radio voice 😉 thank again bud, travel well bro ✌️
Could you post a link to your Odysee channel?
The inferred from the sun can pass through nontransparent material . The sun light filters through blades of grass as the morning due evaporates upwards calling the mushrooms to follow and come forth from the moist darkness and sanctuary below into the world of light and uncertainty and transformation .
Hola 👋
Do you have another channel for cannabis?
Does this help get a better pinset an stop from aborting?
Oxygen tells them they are near the surface, light shows them where to go.
