How to you keep track of time when in session? Do you use a specific tool that engages your client to identify that it’s time to wrap up the session? If so, please share. Thanks!
Hi! With virtual sessions, I have the clock on my computer and also a clock on my desk on the opposite side of the screen. When I was in person, I made sure there were two clocks-one in my view and one in the client’s line of sight. When wrapping up sessions, I use a few techniques. 1. I’ll summarize what we talked about and how they can continue to work on it between sessions. 2. I’ll ask what their plans are for the next week/two weeks so they know we’re at the end. 3. For clients who are more talkative, I specifically prompt them with the time and say “with the last few minutes, I want to reflect on what we discussed/set some goals for next session/make sure the next appointment time works for you. Hopefully that’s helpful!
