That's awesome. I wish I had a family like that. At my house it was yelling, screaming ,kicking under the table throwing utensils and food. Basically a lot like Animal house. My brother was adopted from a crackhead and his hyperactivity and violence destroyed our family Treasure what you have that is so special to get along and problem solve and educate together or even all be in the same room and get along.. Truthfully I'm jealous. Peace.

I am 73 years old. I grew up as the child of a single mom and have no idea who my father was. Having said that, I was blessed with a strong grandfather and 4 uncles who treated me like their own kid. True to form I thought my grandfather was the dumbest human on earth when I was a kid but it is amazing how smart he became as I matured. I am retired now after serving in the USAF and working as a master machinist and I still can hear the words of these 5 wise men in my mind when faced with decisions. God bless you Buddy. Keep speaking the truth!

Thankfully I had my Father my Dad, my Mother on the other hand couldn't have cared less about her own kids.
My Dad was always there for us and to this day even though he passed when I was 21 he is still in the back of my head telling me what's right and wrong. I also had my Dad's side of the family and although some have also passed my Aunt and Uncles were very big influences also, I thank God I had one side of my family that showed actual love and were always there for each other. I am writing this because I saw you were a master machinist and although I didn't get to that level I have been a machinist for 30+ years myself and I salute you sir.

My dad left when I was in the fourth grade. My mom stepped in and told us (3 boys) if we wanted something (material items beyond a roof over our heads and food in our bellies) we better get a job. So we did - we delivered the local news paper, then got job at the local grocery store. She is a strong woman and didn't coddle us! We also joined the local boy scout troop and worked our azzes off to buy camping supplies for our summer camps at the lakes and rivers. It was a great childhood that turned us into great men.

My parents had six children. My father couldn't cope. He passed when I was 8 yrs old. My older brother by 7 yrs did what he could for about a year but had his own life to sort out. My stepdad came on the scene about then and took on the task of raising me and my little sister. It took a while for me to accept his ways but glad I did. He taught me how to work, who to associate with and the consequences of bad choices. Stepdad had an 8th grade education and had to work hard to stay ahead. He included me in that journey and I credit him for my work ethic, patriotism and integrity.

She is already volunteering for the local fire department, and plans to attend the fire academy immediately after she graduates highschool. They both know how to check oil and change a flat tire, my son knows how to change oil, brakes, CV axles, ball joints, tie rods, and tune up his Tahoe. He also knows how to build a shed, and make repairs around the house. They both grew up in Sunday School, Church, and Awana in youth program. We don't drink alcohol or smoke or take any drugs.

The best decision I ever made was to marry my husband. We are 33 years married with 2 newly married children- a daughter and a son. I chose him because of the example I was raised with. We’re still blessed to have my Daddy with us- a 30 year WWII USMC veteran who recently turned 103. His mind is strong and by the grace of God, still healthy. We are a close family and my father lives with us. Both our children are smart, educated (no debt) and compassionate. Both are gainfully employed. My husband grew up knowing how to use tools- fix it tools and defensive ones. He taught both our children the same. Our son is way he is because of my husband’s influence as well as my father’s. Our daughter married a man just her daddy and her Papa. We couldn’t be more proud. We are blessed.

He has a whole bunch of young men & women working for him & is very much involved in mentoring them in welding, blade making, & blacksmithing trades. All of these young folks have a genuineness in them that is becoming rare in US society. Also a shout to my stepfather Bill, who passed away a few years ago. My dad was plenty. He was a WWII POW. I figured if he survived the real Nazis I better listen to him. He taught me so much but the biggest was to use my head to get me out of any problem I might have. I was left running a tractor by myself at 12 years old. Get stuck? Learn to unhook the implement. Use a chain to pull it out. Hook back up and get to work. The hitch pin comes out? Unhook and use the 3 point hitch to raise it and block. Then hook back up and go to. Something breaks? Fix it and get back to work. I miss him.

Buddy I’m in my 70s now but as a young man I had two fathers. One was my biological father, who taught men a great work ethic. A hard man at times but always fair.
My second father was my mother’s brother. He taught me right from wrong. Also faith in Jesus Christ. Two good role models.

I was blessed to have a godly father growing up, and now he's been there for my son and daughter as well. He grew up on a farm and understood what it means to work hard, but more importantly he understands what it means to be a person of integrity. My wife's father is no different. Knowing the role models they have in their lives, I think my kids have a fighting chance.

All of these men played a major part in my son's life. His dad traveled alot, but still took him hunting and fishing. I had to be both parents alot of his life.

When it comes to my kids there's myself, but a question. The rest. Even the grandfather didn't want to stick around was a horrible alcoholic. I'm hoping I had enough influence on them for them to traverse the sludge of life. I know they keep coming back for questions helping I have the answer. It makes me feel good as a dad

I agree with having awesome male figures (Mentors) in your and your childrens lives... I have been blessed with more of these than I can count, including my father... Although most of them have passed, I can still hear their advise and I remember the lessons I learned when I encountered storms in my life... I am so greatful for the lessons I learned from these great men!!! Along with their encouragement and often tough advise, I have a greater mentor than any of those... When I find no one else, who is able to comfort, console or encourage me... He's always there... He intercedes for me and is an ever present help in times of trouble... Jesus Christ, who sits at the right hand of the Father, is always there!!!

My son and daughter had an involved father until about 15 years ago. Mid- life crisis or out right rebellion - but they had a good raising and several family members and community members in our area that were also vital. Now their kids are being raised well. I'm proud of the kids and their spouses - Godly people who are great examples for many of the youth up in Central Nebraska.
I'm a science instructor and I have been telling young men to be men, not sissified. Warned them I had bettered not see them looking at a mirror in a locker. They're supposed to crawl out of bed, throw on some jeans and a shirt and get out the door - not primp and preen for the girls. Boys need to be boys! Some actually listened and are doing well.
God is good, all the time 😁

I was adopted by a man when I was 5. He married my mother and adopted me and from that point off. I was his child . He stepped in when I had children up my own and was a single mother. He would take my son and teach him the ways of manhood. He would guide my daughter in what a respectable woman should behave like. And when he died in two thousand nineteen I found out he had saved his whole life to set me up and my children. A good man is hard to find but is worth finding.

Growing up, the wisest words I've ever heard were from the times that I truly messed up and got caught. The great thing is the role models in my life could have told me I messed up and left me there. However, these men who put me back on track (especially my dad and uncles) took the time to explain how or why I ended up with the unfavorable results I created. I now have kids of my own and see how the knowledge/lessons are being passed on. Thanks Buddy, keep TRUTHING!
