Number one who I wish to go bankrupt is Starbuck, who bought and closed so many wonderful coffee shops in our cities, the coffee shops with which our warmest memories were associated. Ever since this monster bought a nice coffee shop in our area and changed the whole atmosphere there, hanging out his green monster, I have never gone to coffee shops again.
I went to a McDonalds a couple of months ago to get the only sandwich of theirs I liked - the fish. They changed the fish they put in the sandwich and it's AWFUL now. I'm done with them.
Strange how many people cheer this. This is a loss of jobs and it is an indicator for our food chain. If fast food was to go away entirely that would be disastrous. This is the fruits of bad policy.
Not at all this is a result of Good Food winning over bad food. there are now lots of smaller independent restaurants serving really good quality food. People also want to eat healthy. The fast food chain are having their ingredients exposed on social media and the word is getting around and people are choosing for something tastier and healthier. When people start to understand what MSG, corn syrup and sodium can do to you, the Logical step is to go elsewhere. As those new business grow, so do the jobs.
It used to be that factories that actually provided jobs and things people really needed! Mostly gone now replaced with dying malls and finally these chain restaurants! What an ugly landscape the country will be of a graveyard of entities of overconsumption!
That sounds just like a corporation ... they jack prices through the roof and then complain about " falling " sales number. Restaurant owners cry the blues and say things like " I've got expenses " and yet they fail to realize that average people have expenses too and we're not businesses, we're just hourly employees and we can't afford to take on commercial restaurants as financial dependants. Here at home, we always did our own cooking but when fast food ( burgers, sandwiches and pizza ) prices got stupid, we learned to make our own fast food at home and guess what, we save fantastic amounts of money which helps us meet OUR expenses. F*ck restaurants. If you want more business then lower your prices back down to reasonable. Until then, I will continue to make the best pizzas, burgers and sandwiches in the valley and with the money I save, I can pay for things like gasoline and utilities.
Years ago fast food restaurants hired mostly kids and just gave them some spending money. It was enough. Those workers weren't expecting to earn their livelihood there. It was a temporary job until graduation from HS or College. Now these FF restaurants are being pressured to pay adults adult-wages. Their old business model has been destroyed by the economy that requires both spouses to work full time.
I learned how to cook from scratch years ago. Then I learned how to do it without a big mess. Then I learned how to make just enough of each dish for 2 people for 2 days. Then, I learned how to spot high-quality ingredients at a good price. Then I learned how to can foods when I found a good price on meats and veggies. Tasty, high-quality nutritious food can be made for less than $5 a serving for 2 adults without gardening.
Greed will destroy them . If you want customers be competitive in your pricing . The average person does not have the expendable income to justify going out for dining . Always remember loss creates a vacuum and it will be ripe for a less greedy mom and pop style dining experience .
I tried Starbucks once. It sucked. You would have to pay me to do it again. And $15 for a value meal at Mc D's? No thanks, I'll go get a steak dinner for $30. But I do like Fuddrucker's and Steak and Shake
We eat at our local maw and paw resturants. MUCH lower prices and better quality and we like to keep the little guys open. Greedy chains can close, who cares.
It's funny that Company's like YUM, McDonalds, Starbucks, and Red Lobster don't realize what happens when you abandon your employees. Who is your market? Idiots.
This is a shame, but, like many people in the U.S., at least 3 of the restaurants, KFC, Starbucks and McDonalds, are thriving in Ecuador and other places in South America. And much easier to afford. And none are drive throughs in my town. Drive throughs are not popular, even for banks. Ecuadorians are walkers.
I got super sick when I was on vacation from eating at Quiznos. As I was driving home I had to stop every 20 minutes to throw up. I never ate there again.
There were an absolute glut of restaurants when the economy was booming. Now we're in a recession and inflation is out of control, so we've got to tighten our collective belts. First on the chopping block: the extravagance of paying someone else to prepare my meals. Home cooking is a fraction of the cost and preparing my own meals is quite satisfying.
by the time it takes me to drive down to mc dees and get back home [ 15 minutes ] i can grill some patties, toast the buns and deep fry some chips, not only do my burgers taste better they are less than 25% of the price
This is a story of capitalist shortcomings. You start out with a great model that becomes popular because people like it. Then it expands by borrowing and the accountants take over. Pretty soon the food takes a back seat to the financials and they borrow more, cut back on quality and eventually, once the shareholders have stripped it to the bone, it goes bankrupt..
Recently visited a Starbucks for the first time- absolutely dreadful - dirty - grimy with litter and dirty pots just left lying around - toilets a disgrace - never again.
I took my sister to a burger shop that we used to go to as kids, 40 or so years ago... 2 burgers, 2 fries, two sodas..... $42.00 (and some change). These places can go right out of business for all I care.
The reason Starbucks is struggling is because people know how much coffee costs to produce/make and it's not $10+ a cup. That's highway robbery. Starbucks could and has the means to make their coffee more reasonably priced but that doesn't buy mansions, lambos and nice purses for the owners.
Nobody can brew coffee like Starbucks, make burgers like McDonald's and fry chicken like KFC (original recipe). The reason for their decline is the price. The prices have risen so high that people cannot afford them anymore. $16 for a double cheeseburger meal? Used to $3.99. A bucket of chicken 16 pieces at KFC cost $70. Used to be $16. Don't forget to add taxes and TIPS ( whoever heard of tipping fast food workers?). The prices have risen ridiculously in the last four years. Runaway inflation made these once cheap eateries very unaffordable.
I Love it , it's so so sad but their is a silver lining , smart x employees could open similar businesses staying local and small. We should live for ourselves NOT THE NYSE.
KFC went fro. $5 to $18 where im at, maybe thats why since they outpriced their market. McDs is just greedy, gravy biscut for example went from $1.50 to $4 in 2 years, thats 150%
Come to germany, then u know why kfc is going downhill. At least here in frankfurt, they changed the recipe quite a bit. Old kfc always had that black pepper aftertaste, while now, new kfc here tastest much like bell pepper or even sweet pepper. I was a kfc bucket destroyer for my whole life, but that recipe change killed it for me instantly.
You could buy a 48 ounce bottle of Starbucks iced coffee at the grocery store for $5 here in Florida and make your own coffees at home with an ice making machine and customize it how you want. I haven’t been to a Starbucks store in a long time
The health benefits if all these restaurants disappeared would be the biggest boost to productivity in the economy since WW2. A more productive economy will raise wages.
Everyone reduces consumption. The poor and the middle class are the cash machines of the rich. They produce junk food and end up paying for expensive medical care. I now cook at home and don’t buy clothes. I have a second-hand Toyota car that is more than fifteen years old.
Dairy Queen has started to have problems recently in addition to the 15 other chains listed. In 2022 and 2023 the chain closed more locations than it opened, with most of the closures being abrupt. The location right by my house closed in late December of 2023.
in australia yum took over kfc and pizza hut in 1996. they destroyed pizza hut in one day by announcing new healthier recipe which was just removing more than half the ingredients. KFC has been a steady decline with lower quality and higher prices - replacing 11 herbs and spices with 'original' recipe which is just crap
The predominant American business model of operating and expanding while accumulating and servicing large debts is not only stupid it's a guaranteed formula for failure.
Certain chains can go into the trash can forever and the crap they serve would be a service to the American people cook at home and buy local it will benefit your community
Here is a not so bold prediction. McDonald’s isn’t going anywhere. I doubt Starbucks is either. A majority of these chains will still exist by the end of 2024. Every year we see videos like this about the “collapse” of companies. Most don’t happen.
This is a doomsday channel. It also puts out its videos like it's AI generated. You're now on my do not recommend list. Yum foods and KFC. KFC is unrepairable. 1) KFC is a franchise. Owners will never be convinced to raise their prices to retain staff. Low pay an poor treatment of staff leads to high turnover. Hours get cut to the minimum so the stores don't get properly cleaned. 2) I'm sure that corporate sets the amount of time chicken can be under the heating lamp before it can't be served. You're telling your franchisees to throw away money for quality. Knowing how much horribly dry chicken I've been served at KFC, there's no doubt in my mind that owners don't follow the warmer time-out rule. Chick-fil-A prides itself on freshness. I've never received dry chicken from them. It was always, hot, moist and really good. Chick-fil-A is also family owned. That means they don't have to fight with franchisees to pay a descent wage to their employees. They can also control freshness and quality because they're managers are under a tight set of rules. They're not owners who are looking to cut every corner and save every dime. Raising Cane's is a chicken chain that only does one thing. Your chicken fingers are cooked to order. This tells me that a new chicken restaurant can compete and even grow in today's world. KFC has been losing in America for years. Their business model insures that people who want a quality product, what to go to a restaurant with well trained and experienced employees, and want to go to a clean and well maintained restaurant , will never not get that from KFC. It's too late for KFC to fix these problems because they're so deep in the corporate culture that it's best to let the business die. I won't go into a KFC again. That means I won't see windows that haven't been properly cleaned (not just today but for weeks on end.) I won't have to stare at that black grime that builds up between the floors and the walls. I won't see the ignored dust and grit that builds up under the ice machines, cash registers and in every corner where 'through the middle' cleaning misses. If KFC can't do any of that, what do you think they've done to change their recipe over the years to use cheaper and cheaper ingredients? KFC in American can't be saved. If you think it's doing well in China, maybe you haven't heard but China's economy is collapsing.
I like KFC fried livers. Today in a nearby town, I ordered some chicken livers, and I only got 8 for $4.00+. I once got a pint for this. This was so pityful.

In canada, minimum wages are so high, eating out is not on the table anymore….lol. Seriously, went to Burger King for just a whooper, 10 f**king bucks. I said to lady, no just a burger. That’s at least 4 bucks higher than pre covid. McDonald’s, wife and I had to go to one on a road trip, two meals 32 friggin bucks. I don’t eat very often out, but I will no more.
Companies forgot their customer base,. like McDonald’s. People weren’t going there because it was good. They were going there cause it was cheap. They’re almost as much as a regular sit down restaurant now.. pass
I used to visit fast food restaurants, but as the price increases, I can’t afford to.Im glad I’m retired ,now I make food at home. I like Starbucks but I’m Diabetic so I never bought the sugary drinks. Jack in the Box breakfast burrito was $6.00 now it’s $13.00.
It's no wonder the likes of Subway and Quiznos sandwich shops are going out of business. The sandwiches are disappointingly mediocre and way too small for the ridiculously high prices.
The Government should have known this would happen when Rents were allowed to Hyperinflate. It seemed an obvious outcome. Eating out is no longer affordable when most of one’s income goes to housing. Here we are.
I used to eat KFC all the time but in recent years it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Don't know what they've done with the recipe? It tastes bland and uninteresting. How can you go wrong with fried chicken for gods sake? Many of these chains have decided to give us the healthy option by cutting down on the salt etc. If I want to eat healthy I make a salad at home..If I get a takeout its because I'm lazy and want a taste sensation...

The service is bad because they make crap for pay. When you work 40 hours a week and still can't pay bills, it would make you not give 0 fuqks too. That's the direction all jobs are headed in because people are tired of being used and abused
Perfect truth today, clients shouldn’t have to “try to be a customer “ but poor staff and declining food quality makes it a reality. I try almost everyday but if the place fails to satisfy, I won’t be back.
Actually, the fast food industry is adapting to changing consumer preferences.
Exactly! Consumers are driving the shift towards healthier and sustainable options.
Absolutely! What are some sustainable options you're excited about?"In my opinion, investing is the key to building wealth over time.
I've seen the power of investing firsthand; it's helped me grow my own wealth."From my experience, investing consistently has yielded better returns than saving alone."I wish I had started investing earlier; it's been a game-changer for my finances.
My financial advisor is Kavita Rohan; she's been instrumental in my investment journey.
Hi! I was surprised to hear you mention Kavita Rohan. I've also had the pleasure of working with her. She's fantastic!"
SCREW Steak ‘n Shake. Back in 2016 you could dine in, have a waitress bring you your food and there was even a redbull fridge. Now; you order yourself at a fucking kiosk, recieve a petty receipt for ONe free refill. It’s a joke. Hope steak and shake disappears for good
Thank goodness that I don't drink soft drinks, water is my preference anytime!
@@frankcorrea8691 still gotta use the receipt bro

😂😂😂, true
that fast food crap is too expensive.
Yes incompetent, record inflation creating Joe Biden has made fast food unaffordable.
I don't imagine anyone's ever thought about the possibility that there just may be too many of these damned places.
It used to be that factories that actually provided jobs and things people really needed! Mostly gone now replaced with dying malls and finally these chain restaurants! What an ugly landscape the country will be of a graveyard of entities of overconsumption!
In Amerika you have too many fat people,so you still need too many fast junk food restorants.
All fast food restaurants need to be shut down, that garbage isn't good for you.
Bad news. Neither is the grocery store.

The meals I make are around $10-$12 for an evening meal that feeds 4 adults 👍🏻
@@cjhoward409 You are a kitchen ninja.!
Greedy chains can close, who cares.
boycott starbucks
The only one of these that I'll actually miss is Old Country Buffet. I used to love that place.
Ugh ! I was in one about 10 years ago. All I saw was obese folks shoveling food in faster than pigs at a trough ! No thank you !
It's funny that Company's like YUM, McDonalds, Starbucks, and Red Lobster don't realize what happens when you abandon your employees. Who is your market? Idiots.
I bought a 10 piece bucket with three sides at KFC last week. It cost me $47.00 They won't be seeing me again.
McPoison needs to go!
Rubbish and expensive burger that is boring and really pretty tasteless
How is Taco Bell not on this list? Their food is garbage and they've tripled their prices.
Every time is see a Starbucks there’s a line around the building.
Yes Joe Biden’s recession and inflation has destroyed the US.
by the time it takes me to drive down to mc dees and get back home [ 15 minutes ] i can grill some patties, toast the buns and deep fry some chips, not only do my burgers taste better they are less than 25% of the price
All these companies have to do is drop their prices
We have far too many restaurants in this country
I won't miss any of them as I am never a patron. None of them could be called healthy or a good value
I wonder how 6 dollars a cup Starbucks will do in this greedy inflation era we are in.
High operational cost, will they all be gone. Will we go back to the family owned little cafes of the 1950's or before?
I stopped going to KFC completely when the corporation reanimated the long dead founder and had his zombieness walking around talking in commercials.
I thought Quizno’s and Fuddrucker’s were already dead AF
KFC went fro. $5 to $18 where im at, maybe thats why since they outpriced their market.
McDs is just greedy, gravy biscut for example went from $1.50 to $4 in 2 years, thats 150%
It’s not fast food, it’s junk food
Government policies are running all these small businesses out of business
Why so fast? I was waiting for the $50 combo meal!
Come to germany, then u know why kfc is going downhill.
At least here in frankfurt, they changed the recipe quite a bit.
Old kfc always had that black pepper aftertaste, while now, new kfc here tastest much like bell pepper or even sweet pepper.
I was a kfc bucket destroyer for my whole life, but that recipe change killed it for me instantly.
everything is oil and salt even at the grocery stores these days.
Trying to kill us... Or at least make us infertile.
You could buy a 48 ounce bottle of Starbucks iced coffee at the grocery store for $5 here in Florida and make your own coffees at home with an ice making machine and customize it how you want. I haven’t been to a Starbucks store in a long time
Panda express should not be classified as food.
The health benefits if all these restaurants disappeared would be the biggest boost to productivity in the economy since WW2. A more productive economy will raise wages.
Imagine the impact on chemical companies if these places fail…….
Noticed how Burger king is not on this list.I worked for them Years ago when pay was 5.25 an hour lol.
McDees small fries for $3.99 you can keep them and shove them.
Omg , God help us , people have to learn how to cook in there own food omg the world will never be the same

smaller portions, higher prices... not hard to figure out
Here is a not so bold prediction.
CEOs making millions per year while hiking prices: "This isnt working. Fire more peasants"
I like KFC fried livers. Today in a nearby town, I ordered some chicken livers, and I only got 8 for $4.00+. I once got a pint for this. This was so pityful.
@tc25d never name your future meal. When I was a kid, I had to eat Mr Tom Turkey on Thanksgiving one time. He didn't go down very well.

Restaurants struggling because they can't extort workers. Imagine that for a thought.
Always a good listen and insightful!
Yes Joe Biden’s record inflation has made everything unaffordable.
Most those fast food places, serving up 'poison' Need pain relief, eat there and enjoy your hospital stay and eternal rest.
Maybe America can get slim again
Where will have all the PHDs in gender studies have to work if all these stores are gone?
I used to eat KFC all the time but in recent years it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Don't know what they've done with the recipe? It tastes bland and uninteresting. How can you go wrong with fried chicken for gods sake? Many of these chains have decided to give us the healthy option by cutting down on the salt etc. If I want to eat healthy I make a salad at home..If I get a takeout its because I'm lazy and want a taste sensation...
