In this video we talk about Celibacy .
Forget religion, learn the real benefits that give supernatural powers.
Learn the REAL reason it is practiced.
we speak about celibacy, Brahmacharya - and what it really means in the Yogic context.
This practice has the power to bestow supernatural abilities in humans.
The incredible benefits seem to have been lost because these days, when people hear about celibacy - they equate it to a religious practice, to “good & bad”.
E.g. sex is bad. This couldn’t be further from the truth, because without sex, none of us would be here. It is a divine act, it creates life.
Brahmacharya or celibacy is the fourth Yama (rules for peaceful living) from the eight limbs of Yoga - Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
The Yogic View
In the science of Yoga, unlike religion there is no “good or bad”.
The whole science has one goal, to end suffering by ceasing the needless chatter of the mind, and helping humans to realise their true nature as pure love.
Anything that promotes this, is practiced.
Brahmacharya is one of these practices, but it is not confined to celibacy.
What is Brahmacharya
Brahm = Divinity. (Ultimate reality)
Charya = The path/to walk the path
Brahmacharya means walking the path to divinity.
Anybody who practices walking this path - practices Brahmacharya.
So what does this have to do with celibacy, you may ask?
Simple.
The practice of celibacy is a powerful way to reach the goal of Yoga.
Why?
Because remember, the goal of yoga is to cease the needless chatter of the mind. To end suffering.
This “chatter” or “monkey mind” = A mind that is not in our control.
We are under the control of the mind.
And this needs to be reversed. WE must become the one controlling our mind.
(If you’re familiar with the Bhagavad Gita - you know that Arjuna sits on a chariot of horses).
Arjuna is the mind, and the horses are the senses.
The horses have to be reigned in.
And for this, we need energy, strength, willpower, force, stamina - ENERGY.
And what gives energy?
SEMINAL FLUID
According to the Science of Ayurveda, there are 7 tissues that make up our body.
And these are produced from the food we eat.
So the process is - we eat food which is converted (in the below order) to these 7
Food becomes
Plasma
Blood
Muscle
Fat
Bone
Bone Marrow
Semen
40 drops of blood = 1 drop of semen
This (Semen) consists of 2 parts.
One part for sex and reproduction.
The other is for ENERGY for our body and mind.
This energy is very potent, very powerful.
(I mean come on, it can create LIFE)
So we have a choice. We can waste & dissipate it, through masturbation and sex.
Or, we can conserve it. When this energy is conserved, it can be used for other purposes.
(In Yoga, it is used to gain strength over the mind, to transcend the mind.) To pierce the veil of ignorance and realise our true nature as beings of pure love. To end suffering.
Through meditation, this energy (Ojas) can be converted into spiritual energy.
It has also been the secret weapon of people who have achieved great things in this world.

HOW TO PRACTICE
So bear in mind that Brahmacharya does not only mean celibacy. It means walking the divine path. It means living in control. Control of thoughts, words & actions.
Living in a way that brings peace to the mind, body, soul.
Living in a way that brings peace to others.

I'm a Christian but the tools you present are so universal and versatile for spiritual growth. Our limitations and struggles are indeed the same - just human:) Alongside the divine nature that dwells deep inside our hearts.
Thank you Conrad. I totally agree
@@jfb888 geuninely practised religion should lead to liberation from an ego. If it were a product of an ego, the ego would indeed have to be insanely studid to create a selfdestructive tool;)
@@jfb888 Ego >misuses< religion. A knife in the hands of a criminal - the knife's to blame?
@@jfb888 1. intangibility of things doesn't make them fictitious. eg love? 2. “There’s no point in stopping ejaculating when your mind is full of sexual thoughts.” That’s a relief! Really though, I love this channel. i’m not sure I buy into this particular teaching fully but it’s a great channel.
The Most Important Way of Practicing it is by your Own Thoughts.. Because Thoughts are the Most Basic Fundamental Thing of Brahmachariya..

Hello from England 🇬🇧
Hello back brother
I need to be celibate for health reasons and to clear my mind and get rid of this toxic lust in my mind. But I struggle because I have a very high sex drive and feel so tempted by all the sexual media and world we live in - movies, tv, books, internet, advertising and even music!
Remove those obstacles then my friend.
Hello brother. Thanks for sharing. It can definitely be done. Slow and steady wins the race. The one thing I would say is that sexual desire is not something we can tame by force, or will power alone. It will backfire. Sensual desires start to fade naturally when we begin to experience a greater joy - like the joy found in meditation. If you're able to create a consistent meditation practice, the rest will take care of itself.
If you ever want to speak - you can book a call with me here - www.meditatewithrishi.com/talktorishi
Much love to you.
I was just talking to someone about how degenerate music can be.
Basically slowly disconnect from all of these things. I stopped logging on Instagram because the amount of sexual and negative content out there.
👀 Anyone interested in this topic of 'Brahmacharya' of Indian yoga should do a research of the concepts of 'ojas, prana & tejas' from the Ayurvedic medicine of India and also look for the concept of the 'Three Treasures' (San Bao) called 'jing, chi & shen' in Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Also take a look at the Kabbalah teachings related to the sephirah Yesod and finally read something about the view of celibacy from the Catholic perspective.👀
I am feeling so proud

@@MeditateWithRishi What about wet dreams, is it a relapse?
Can i practice bramacharya even if im already 60 years old? Many thanks if you reply!
wow
I can understand this but you can't force the other partner to be celibate just because you are following celibacy which ends with very disastrous outcomes can you please give me any idea to balance the other person.
(Tbh I'm worried for restricting not to have s3x and at the sametime I have seen many people breaking up due to lack of physical intimacy which make me worried in both ways)
Is there is anyway like moderation or something for this?
I have seen a video explaining a person should follow on certain days and still considered as a brahmacharya but that lacks references.
I would be happy if I get a reply from you.
THANK YOU.
There are many reasons.
Good morning. I practice celibacy. Im 50 years old now.
😀
☺️❤️🙏🏼
I am 60 years old man. Can aged people also benefit when bramachariya is practiced ?
Hello. Yes for sure.
Gday M8
Do you have any tips for transmuting the energy?
Great question. To be honest, I don't know. From what I've gathered, either there are specific ways to do it (which are beyond my reach).
Or, simply doing your meditation is sufficient.
Because, if we think about it, energy follows attention. So by focusing our attention on meditation (or whatever work we choose to), that is where the energy is directed.
I don't think it needs to be more complicated than that.
Hope that helps.
Pranayama of any type is great for transmuting!
Do moderate exercise, deep breathing, keep up busy all times, be positive.
@@MeditateWithRishi Which state in India are you based in?
Also, do you practice semen retention?
I can see the glow on your face that is associated with ancient practice.
Hey so my personal opinion on transmuting is ACTION. For me personally it’s going to gym, training Muay Thai, meditating, reading, or creating music. All of these things draw from my inner power.
Basically exercise, skills, creation, learning. Any of those that resonate with you, do it to your best ability.
Life has led me to be accidentally celibate for 6 years while also on the biggest acceleration of my spiritual path. It’s only now, all these years later, that I see the connection. How funny.
Also, one of my spiritual teachers teaches bramachariya, but I’ve never been interested in it. Only now am I thinking.. “ah yes, this might be something that’s been gifted to me without realising”.
(I’ve been with my partner for 7 years and we are peaceful but don’t have sex. It’s never been a problem and now I see why)
It's ok like many months in but having unwanted sexual dreams that are very traumatizing and it's not wanted in the dream and these men hurt me ..even night terrors where a black clawed being is pressing on my chest and I cannot breath and choking me and trying to touch me in a bad way :(.. but I have been finally getting more lucid in these dreams and have been able to say no sometimes and maybe it's the demon of lust I don't know. It laughed an evil laugh it had red eyes and told me it owned me. But I am not ready to give up yet. I AM trying to heal sexual traumas. I am trying to excersize more and I am thinking much more clearly and my dreams when not that are more prophetic
Woman and cold turkey not even touching myself at all for like hmm is it November now I think..Also sober, many months no dreams like that at all, but one or 2 randomly, but lately many weird ones! 😮 But I am also having dreams telling me to stop excess sugar and no more caffine
Also it's been a slow practice.. until I quit cold turkey after months and years of going slowly and I have no sexual thoughts or desires so these dreams confuse me. And I am Christian born again since a couple years now
“Selibacy “
Is Chanting Aum for 20 mins every morning and before going to bed along with celibacy is enough for aligning the energies and going on to a spiritual path? And am I developing ojas by doing so?
Hi Ritvik. I get why you're asking that, but there is no way to measure that - and perhaps not the right way to look at it.
Pick any practice you like (like Aum chanting), and just do it. Consistently. With total faith. Everyday.
You are already on the path.
What needs to happen will happen naturally, at the right time.
The real teacher is already within you.
Follow that. And keep it simple.
@@MeditateWithRishi Thankyou so much Rishi for your reply.
Yes I feel you are absolutely right about this,
I have been doing Aum chanting and following celibacy after waking up whole night at the Mahashivaratri consistently.
The changes are tremendous, I have become much more confident, I became more stable, I've started taking care of my self, I've started looking upon one's intentions insted of judgeing everyone on the basis of their actions, I have developed a sence of love for everyone and everything around me, my habbit of smoking cigarettes have almost vanished, my will power has become soo strong like never before, I feel that life has started happening more smoothly with decreasing resistance after my each session of Aum chanting and much more.
I just love my new life, but there's a question that comes into mind everytime, that are my current practices enough to stay on the same path or should I go for something more?
And there's one more question, that while following celibacy if nightfall happens naturally, will I loose the retained energy or is it totally fine if it happens?
@@ritviksaxena4200 Hi Ritvik. I'm glad to hear all those positive changes.
They are all signs of progress, real signs.
Now, on the question of nightfall. Is it occasional or regular? If occasional, it is nothing to worry about.
It is pretty normal and natural.
Remember brahmacharya is not only about semen retention, it is cultivating a mind that is pure.
So simply doing our practice, (japa, meditation, etc) slowly but surely, will purify the mind.
Regarding current practices, what do you mean by something more?
@@MeditateWithRishi The nightfall is occasional like once in a month or so..
And if you ask about something more I don't know because still there is some kind of longing within myself which doesn't let me feel the sence of fulfillment.
@@ritviksaxena4200 Got you. Alright well look, if you ever want to have a deeper chat about this, I do offer 1-2-1 sessions that can be booked on the website. But keep going and trust yourself.
Where are you from
I'm Indian 😀
Celibacy Is not Brahmacharya .
He said that
If semen is the energy source of men, what about women?
The energy source of men and women both are the source of all life: the spirit. It is the ethereal spirit that is the true source of all living beings.
With women, it’s the orgasm and any fluids that are produced and released during so. It’s both physical and spiritually in how it drains energy.
What will be the substitute of semen retention for women ?!! 🤔.
Hi Zerin, great question. I do get why you're asking. So it may help to understand that ultimately, it's the orgasm where sexual energy is released. It's to do with the firing of the nervous system during orgasm that releases a lot of energy. The aim is to conserve this energy. Hope that clarifies and also remember this shouldn't be forced. We shouldn't forcefully restrict ourselves as that can have negative effects. Instead, through a consistent meditation practice, we gradually see a decrease in desire for sense pleasures - be it sex, or smoking/drinking. Hope that helps!
There isn’t one!
@@pratyushcreed Celibacy is not just for men, many women in different religions have practiced it for centuries too
This is very confusing and manipulating .
