emwungarand That was 30 years ago though... These fuckers in South America frenzy, mosh, and sing like no other part of the planet! And I’m in USA so it’s not like I’m biased...
I live in the US but I was born in Argentina, I saw pantera 4 times in Argentina, Those shows were insane ! I still remember that ! Like it was yesterday ! RIP Dime !
Damn that venue looks awesome, it reminds me of some old school pantera vulgar display of power videos, I am loving this shit, keep bringing it on this level phil, your the king of metal
Scott Monetti is totally right about this shit. Seeing Phil sing those songs in front of a crowd like that brought me back to Pantera so overwhelming I can't help but cry like a butch every time I watch this. If I can only see Phil here in Toronto Canada I could die happy. If only to hear Pantera live again. I'd give anything to experience what hose people in S.America got to experience. That was a celebration. It really was an emotional Rollercoaster to watch. If Phil ever came here I'd hope the crowd would be a fraction of that crowd right there. That must have given him a confidence beyond diving.
I'd have to really hope so man. I really wish to god none of this shot happened. I wish that was a clip of Pantera. But it's what we have to work with and I'd say Phil is looking better and better every day. Love them all. Stronger than All
And I do think Dime would be looking with approval except for the guitar player wearing that trademark pair of shorts with the pot leaves on the pant leg Dime used to wear. Lol Vinnie let his grief and sorrow get the best of him when it came to Phil. I noticed on o e of the festivals shortly before Vinnie passed away Hellyeah was playing on the bill and so was Phil and the Illegals. I heard Phil tried to see him and was told to beat it. Then when he finally saw Vinnie he was surrounded by bodyguards who formed a wall around him to keep Phil from approaching him. That's really fucking sad if it's truth. Nathan Gale did not only kill those people at the Alrosa Villa. He killed Vinnie as well. It just took almost 14 years for that invisible bullet of grief to strike. I can't imagine what he was feeling every day of his life after that tragedy. And no words can be strong enough. Tragedy doesn't begin to explain the pain that asshole spread throughout OUR community. Not the metal community but the PANTERA community. If you came down and chose sides during this "rivalry" then I hope you've turned it around. As a huge fan of Pantera I loved them all. I listened to Phils stuff in Down and Superjoint but I also really loved Damageplan. I always thought they'd reconnect. I'm just dumbfounded still. It feels like yesterday I saw Pantera and Slayer opening up for them. I'll never forget the first song of that show. Hellbound. With that giant metal Pantera sign and the flames shooting out of it. And then Kerry King came out and played god damned electric with Dime. What a great show. Pantera was something special. Not all metal heads get it. But we did. That's all that mattered. We are a brotherhood still to this day. All things Pantera will never go away. They came, they saw, their still kicking ass. But God do I miss the Brothers From Hell.
And P.S. Vince shouldn't have blamed Phil for Dimes death. That's the only thing I ever hated about any of these guys. He misdirected his anger. The real killer got his head blown apart (rightly so, thank you officer Neigermeyer. Sorry if it's spelled wrong) and I think in a way that a was a bad thing for Vince. I think if he saw that man go through the justice system however, it wouldn't feel like enough. If he had accepted Phils support things would have gone very different. He may very well have been here today if they fixed their relationship. And a big part of Panteras demise believe it or not was when they landed just after 911 happened and it really had a profound impact on them. It's in a lot of interviews. They needed to take a break but it turned out to be the end. I wonder how hard Vince tried to get in touch with Phil during that time period when they were ready to go again. I think Phil was ashamed of his personal issues and couldn't face the guys. I really do. And I also think if Phil was honest about that back then they would have helped him and backed him up. The back issues led to an addiction you can't understand unless you've been there. Synthetic Opioids prescribed for acute pain led to Heroin addiction for millions of people. I know a lot of people who went through it with Oxys and Percocet and they all ended up on methadone. These are people who had families and a life. So I get it. I just wish he was more open about it with them. I feel bad for Phil for all that. I wish I could give he guy a big hug and tell him how emotional it is to see him back in shape and looking good and finally performing Pantera songs live again and doing a good job of it. I hope his confidence gets a huge boost in South America. I wish the best for Phil. I wish Rex was still with him though. Let's not forget about one of the heaviest bass players in metal. He was good. They were sooooo tight.
