How to play Gameboy games on your CALCULATOR! (FX-CG50/20)

- This vid shows the simple steps to install Prizoop (Gameboy and Gameboy Color emulator) and convert your .gb and .gbc rom files to .gbz rom files. I tried to make it as quick and concise as possible and also make it cool to watch. I shot most of this with my phone, at some point I'd love to get a camera to shoot B-roll, but that's a future project. If you have any other ideas or recommendations put them in the comments and I will consider them.

For those facing issues with the calcultor running some ROMs, make sure that it is a .gbc file, that the file name only contains letters and that the name is kept short, this especially applies to Legend of Zelda titles which are very long. Do that, and the emulator should start running fine. GLHF!
I renamed my Pokémon Crystal rom to "PkmnCrystal.gbz" and it worked fine; thanks for the helpful comment

I'm working on getting a better voiceover setup going. Currently I'm using the built in voiceover tools in Movie Maker since Audacity is finicky lately.

If anyone has problems with Gameboy Color games (roms) just remove the minus (-) out of the name if that still doesnt work try removing all symbols (ex. ![ ]()etc.)

when i open the comp.gb.exe and open my rom it will load but then i wont do anything after and there will be no files on my calculator when i open prizoop
what if the controls arent working - i tried this and most of the games, i cannot get passed the title screen...
This wont affect my "Examination Mode" right?
We have to put our calcs into that mode in order to make a test or we will be given a 1

@@kurtiscobain3224 Only really on Texas Instruments and numworks calcs. Most of Casios main calculators are pretty open still.

Where did you download ur roms? Mine don’t seem to work or have an error message.
Make sure the filename is 8 or fewer characters long and doesn't have any special symbols like () or -.

Yes, you can always delete the program from the memory the same way you installed it.

ayo so ive tried this out and every single time i run the gbz file via prizoop i keep getting an error message saying system error and gives me two options to either reboot or initialize (which doesnt work) on the same error msg it also shows "TLB ERROR"

You have to rename the files so they don’t have characters in the name but just letters except the . gbz or whatever you have

my teachers said that putting games onto our calculators voids the warranty or something, is this true and does it actually matter or not?
This isn't true. Teachers say this because they dont want students playing games on their calculators, which you shouldn't be doing! As long as the programs arent touching system files (this tutorial doesn't) then you're fine. things like opening up the calculator, overclocking (I have a tutorial on that btw), and modifying system files can void the warranty.

Hey, sorry but when I try to load Pokemon silver, I make it to the screen which would normally say 'Start' but if I press SHIFT or F6 it restarts and I can't play. Do you have any idea why?

Hi, I was just wondering. I managed to get super mario bros deluxe however, none of the controls work and i cant get mario to move
I managed to fix it by re-mapping the controls in the settings menu. You can just re-map it to the default keys.
Why doesnt the file pop up

I'm getting the same message the first time I try to run a rom; the second time, it returns a system error and i have to restart the calc.
I'm using a casio fx-CG50, so it might not be fully compatible. most things on cemetech are for the older prizm models

Try compressing again, sometimes it doesn't work. It could also be compatability but I doubt it

You probably dont have VC 2015 installed. The program requires this to run. Download it here:

That problem happened to me when I used a random mini usb, you need to either find your original mini usb that came with the calculator, or buy a new one

bit late to the party but the game has to be in gb or gbc or gbz format for it to work, converting it is really difficult with a file of that age

It only works on windows, you could be running windows in S mode which you would have to google how to get it out of S mode. It's pretty easy and free, its a dumb thing windows is doing now.

You're probably pressing F5 when he tells you to press F5. You're actually supposed to press F6. I think he's probably used to some TI calculators.

When you open up comp-gb you need to find the folder where your roms are. For ease of use I put them in the same folder that I keep comp-gb in.
I've heard that usually the reason why this doesn't work is because of the name of the rom being to long so then,

you can change the name of the rom through your pc by just changing the name of the file

Just erase the Prizoop file and install it again and its all done, at least worked for me!

5 months later u probably figured this out but anyways you need to download the ROM of the game from somewhere and then select that to compress the game

You could try replacing your batteries, the sudden power increase could be overpowering weak batteries. you could try reinstalling the application.

As far as I know it shouldn't, it's technically not a mod, this is intended behavior, installing programs. Before taking any big exams though, I would remove the emulators and games as a precaution.

It's probably a conflict with the button mapping? Maybe hitting shift is making another button quit the app
