I've been working on seats for a long time. Never pulled battery cables. No fear of airbags blowing up. Also you don't have to unbolt it from the floor. As you remove the switch bezel there's a screw there and one on the rear corner of the side plastic cover. You did way more than was necessary. Pop the electric switch bezel, remove the screw in the upper left corner and the rear screw. Pull gently on the back, use a long flat screwdriver pop out the two clips and slide forward.
Ken, CM here. Do you know how they deal with the steel square retention tangs that are used to secure the seams directly into the channel of the foam? It looks like the OEM may have slipped them through the cover material and then slipped the clips over that orange rod at each end as the foam looks "worked" on those four corners. Do those orange-ish rods in the seat cushion slip out from under the foam mold for removal of these clips by chance? I'm finally getting around to installing new seat covers on the overhaul project now that I'm at the tail end of rebuilding the firewall and interior of the cab. I don't like to rip or cut things but, do it right. Thanks in advance, CM
I figured it out once in the sunlight and a magnifier headset on... the steel clamps are pinch-type square clips that easily open up with a screwdriver. Once open, use needle nose pliers to work the open end down around the rod and pull up. I did one side in about 5 minutes. There's a lot of these clips throughout the seat cover however - not just four as presumed. CM
Thank you for this comment, after looking at your comment and re-watching the video I can see that it appears you are correct, the only removal necessary is the bezel and plastics were the seat controls are so you can on loop the seat in that area, on the other side of the seed it just looks like it's one of those plastic clips. I guess him taking the seat out made it easy for him to show everything on camera for the video but as far as the procedure goes it looks 10 X more simple than this video I'll be doing mine next weekend and let you know how it goes
Hey strong work on this video... thank you so much. Mentioning that you need to know how to hog tie is important and thankful I have the tool for the job prior to starting. Thx again.
One thing you don't say or show is what gen truck it is. Mine is a gen 4, for some reason the seat cover is different and more expensive than the gen 3 but I've seen where they take the same cushion. Not sure the difference in the cover.
On is the easy part, I was showing how to get it off and ready to install the new one. I mean if you took the old one off, do everything in reverse, it's not rocket science....
Hey what year is your truck? I have a 2016 and having issues with I think the occupancy sensor on the passenger side. Apparently that year of ram they put the occupancy sensor inside. the foam of the seat. And they want $485 for the new foam. Wondering if you happen to see any sensors.
That truck was a 2012. I only did the drivers side. I don't recall any sensor. I think they only put that sensor in the passenger seat for airbag safety.
Not sure why you went under the hood? Should have pulled the engine while you were at it. 6 clips under the sear frame, pull the seat cushion out. Put a new cover on a new cushion starting with lining up the Velcro strips, pushing the cover into the Velcro for a good seal, work the new cover over the cushion. Put the new cover down on the frame, hook the clips back and your done
Thanks for the snarky comment bud. Always best practice to disconnect batteries when dealing wiring. Safe and proper. I showed how to remove the seat because if someone wants to replace the foam, it's far easier to do out of the truck.
@@EricOliver ok thanks I’m almost done I’m just stuck on fastening the seat to the rods in the foam, is there an easier way then the metal clips they provided?
Great video! Thank you so much. Dealership told me to pretty much eat my hat when I asked for it to be replaced / repaired.

Excellent Video... Totally helped me out today changing the Cover and Cushion on '11 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 Laramie!!! #LOVEMYRAM
Thank you, I know it was a little long, I am glad it helped you out!
How does the replacement cover feel compared to the factory one. Seem like the same material?
You video helped me alot. Thanks man. Also installed a heated seat kit while i was there.
How did you add a heated seat kit?
Thanks for the video. Super helpful! 👍

Glad it was helpful!
Anyone know if the bottom covers are the same for 2015?! Know seats are different but cant find the 15 replacements
I was surprised you didn't include the installation of the channel clips. Seems important. But thanks.
the seat on my 2015 Ram 3500 has a 5th bolt under the console. Do I get to it by removing console?

That foam comes off. The only holding it there was the cushion of the seat back. Fold the seat back and it lifts right off
Looks great. Where did you get the new cover from? At the dealer here in Vancouver , Canada they want $900. There has got to be a better way.
Margriet & Rick Eustace I got the replacement cover from Richmond Auto Upholstery. Their website is leather-auto-seats.com
Its not even leather its vinyl.
Amazon has them for 50$
I can't unscrew the rear two, they are too rusty on the bottom side, the car is from Maine
Steamer works for them clips

@@EricOliver So if I am just replacing the leather cover without the foam do you think I would be able to do it without removing the seat?
@@tylerdunn5935 yeah it could be done in the truck.
@@EricOliver ok thanks I’m almost done I’m just stuck on fastening the seat to the rods in the foam, is there an easier way then the metal clips they provided?
@@tylerdunn5935 not really. The hog rings are the best method. Do you have the hog ring pliers? They certainly make it easier.
Where it attaches under the right corner just yank it and it'll tear the carpet where the Christmas tree clip is. Completely useless.
why are you out of breath
