Clare Hirst. I remember her in the Belle Stars. What an incredibly talented saxophonist. Hazel O’Connor her voice is so distinctive. Being a pre teen when Breaking Glass came out I went out and bought the LP. Listened to it over and over. She made a big impact on me I love her voice, and her look.
Hey Peter, Hazel has gone out with varying lineups over the years. You should go check out her now, she does an acoustic show with Sarah on piano and Clare on sax.
Ced Sharpely RIP great drummer.. Love Hazel I met her 4 or 5 yrs ago I told her my mum wasn't happy with the massive Hazel poster on my wall, mum said oh is she a punk so I played her Will you my mum said what a lovely song so I told Hazel that song saved her poster on my wall 😆 Hazel said the funny thing was it wasn't gonna go on the album I'm so glad it did :-) Keep getting well Hazel x
Yes, Ced was a great drummer, we worked together a lot for a while. And he was a lovely guy too, we had a lot of fun and he is dearly missed. That's a great story about the poster and your Mum, brilliant. A great song always wins out eh?
Hey Sam, I agree, Will You is a classic. Hazel is still out gigging with Clare and Sarah, you should go see her. Her dates are always on her site hazeloconnor.com
Saddly there's cedric sharply on drums passed on few yrs ago now he deserves credit as a fantastic drummer.. But mainly for a great artist Gary Numan. Ie tubeway army toured with... This as to be the greatest balled ever written in my eyes...
Hi Malc, yeah Nicky and Clare have played with Hazel for many years, and right through until hazel recently fell ill. These were the happy days when Neil and myself played with them. as well.
Hi guys, that’s not actually Sarah playing the piano! She only started playing with Hazel and Clare in 2010. Not sure who it is but I’ll try and find out! Xx
i have always loved this song. i saw her in the 80's at loughborough uni. the sax player was incredible, he got covered in crazy foam and just kept playing, he was just awesome. preferred his solo than this womans. although she plays well to be fair. what a great song. i went to a party a couple of years ago and the band which was a man and wife played this, he could play any instrument, violin piano drums and the sax. he played the sax solo like he was born to play it. stunning.
Wow. Beautiful movement in these chords. Such an amazing song. Love the simple and effective bass. Was this live? It's slower than I recall and the mix is different.
LOL.. It is the late great Ced Sharply who was the drummer for Tubeway Army. We also played together in the Q-Tips for a while. An absolute gentleman and one of the most solid drummers I've had the honour to work with.
Yeah, that was the legendary Ced Sharpley. He was such a lovely guy and I worked with Ced on a few shows including Hazel and the Q-Tips. He's sadly missed.
Pebble Mill At 1. Should bring it back. Hazel O'Connor Brilliant.
Pebble Mill studios are no more. Two hospitals are there. One private and the other a Dental hospital.
Gary Numans drummer Ced Sharpley!! Awesome drummer!! Rest in Peace!! ❤💯
Yeah, Ced was a great guy, we worked on a few projects together including Hazel and the Q-Tips. Sadly missed.

never seen this version before. nice ensemble production, and Hazel is positively seductive in the way she performs it. Thanks for posting
I saw Hazel preform this song at the Queens Park centre Aylesbury in the late 80s, it was accompanied with a Harp
Hey Peter, Hazel has gone out with varying lineups over the years. You should go check out her now, she does an acoustic show with Sarah on piano and Clare on sax.
Wonderful version. Astounding. Love Hazel and so love the saxophone. ❤❤❤
Stood 5 feet away from her in the mid 90s sang this masterpiece. Awesome performance. Then and now.
Best version of this song by Hazel I’ve ever heard and the best I’ve ever seen her ❤
Il y a une autre version avec tout l'orchestre derrière elle encore meilleure à mon avis !!!
Wow. What a great clip of Hazel. Have not seen this one. Thank you for posting.
My pleasure.
What a tune brilliant.
Fantastic, great version ❤
I'm pretty sure everyone one who learns to play sax must want to master this.
Most sax players I have worked with cite the solo on this track as a must learn, it’s so iconic. Do you play Graeme?
@@westyonbass511 , un petit bijou cette chanson, il y tout pour qu'on aime ce tube !!!!
This song is best while you close your eyes a listen it brings back so many great songs from the early 80s
Just amazing

Love the sax part more than anything else in fact I could play this part on a loop
I agree, Clare is a great player.
Great video Dave. I remember Pebble Mill. We love this song. My hubby is a big fan of Hazel. 👍🏾

Fantastic, incredibly evocative song and marvellous version
AWESOME
Amazing! Had no idea you played for her too, Dave!! Such a great song. 👍👏👏👏
Thanks Chris, yeah I played with Hazel for many years. And yes, Will You is a beautiful song.
Nobody can touch wes with the sax he was pure brilliance so sad he cant play now due to an accident with some farm machinery i think
Wow! I didn't know this, that is terrible news. And you are right, Wes was a great player.
Clare Hirst on sax... And the vid was cut short. :-(
Best female sax player and a very humble person.
She was with David Bowie at Live Aid in '85.
And she is a lovely person as well. I always loved playing with Clare.
Aw brill, didn't see this back in the day! Thanks for uploading :)
Großartiger Song immernoch. Grund genug Saxophon spielen zu lernen. 👍🌞😎
I look forward to your sax version soon. 😉
All those instruments to just mime is crazy
Saddly there's cedric sharply on drums passed on few yrs ago now he deserves credit as a fantastic drummer.. But mainly for a great artist Gary Numan. Ie tubeway army toured with... This as to be the greatest balled ever written in my eyes...
Absolutely Angel, a great player and an even greater guy.
Queen.
gET WELL SOON
Yes, we don`t want to lose her, she`s one of a kind.
Brain bleed is one of the many symptoms of the State Inj.....
Absolute fantastic version
Great
This is just so awesome. I didn't realise Sarah and Clare had been with Hazel since 1988! I'm quite shocked actually!
Xx
The pianist is Nicky Holland x
Is that Sarah Fisher?!
God I love hazel ❤
Loving the mullet Dave😁
It took a while to grow but 2 mins to mess it up… As you can see! 😂😂
i have always loved this song. i saw her in the 80's at loughborough uni. the sax player was incredible, he got covered in crazy foam and just kept playing, he was just awesome. preferred his solo than this womans. although she plays well to be fair. what a great song. i went to a party a couple of years ago and the band which was a man and wife played this, he could play any instrument, violin piano drums and the sax. he played the sax solo like he was born to play it. stunning.
Wow
The best of
Is that a young Clare hirst on saxophone
It is indeed Ian, and she is still a young Clare! ;-)
How good does she look, without even trying. Not like today’s lot pumped up with fillers and false lips and lashes.
Absolutely Steve, Hazel has always been very down-to-earth and all about the music.
Not plastic real true
Wow. Beautiful movement in these chords. Such an amazing song. Love the simple and effective bass. Was this live? It's slower than I recall and the mix is different.
Thank you. I'm afraid that it was mimed as this was a requirement on the show. But it is exactly how we played it live.
Yo Dave, how you doing, long time no see. You remember me, Mike from Basement.
Hey Mike, yes of course I remember. I trust all is good with you?
Wes McGoogan - still lives Hastings way
He was far better IMO.
Pebble mill, that was voice-over lol
Christ i thought the drummer was Leo Sayer for a moment lol
LOL.. It is the late great Ced Sharply who was the drummer for Tubeway Army. We also played together in the Q-Tips for a while. An absolute gentleman and one of the most solid drummers I've had the honour to work with.
For saxo part, "Never mess UP in improvisation" with such a classical standard .. Amen 🙏 anyway ..it's ok..
In dublin.
What's in Dublin?
Why isn't the original sax player there
Not as good
With out the sax it not really
Great song but not really suitable for pebble mill and she looks well out of it 🤣🤣🤣
Alto is better for this piece .
where is wess mahgoogan ???? without him you are nothing !
Is that Tubeway Armys drummer on the drums?
Yeah, that was the legendary Ced Sharpley. He was such a lovely guy and I worked with Ced on a few shows including Hazel and the Q-Tips. He's sadly missed.
Great song , But oh boy Bad Miming by the singer and musicians .
Yep, miming wasn't our strong point. We all loved playing live!
