I hope you are all having a great weekend! I have been busy this week flying...and next week, a real treat. I'm flying Virgin Atlantic's 747 in Upper Class to New York from Manchester (in the front seat in the nose, yeah baby), taking in a new Delta A220 trip, reviewing Brightline - something so many of you asked for - and travelling on a veteran A340-300 for less money than is reasonable. So many awesome videos to come in the next few weeks and I'm so excited I even gave my own comment a heart!
FOLLOW ME on Instagram and Twitter where I live blog all my travels and get a sneak peek into what's to come. Paul_winginit on both platforms. Cheers!

yess stok3d for 747
Woah you’re lucky
Nice, I almost envy you. What flight is with the A343?
Another great report thanks Paul

PAUL LUCAS IS BACK!!!!
Paul, you go from strength to strength 👍 I’ve been a subscriber fir some time and saw your vlog as you prepared to ‘take the plunge’ and go full time. Your confidence has grown so much as has your delivery - you come across so well. Thank you for the videos and happy flying!! ❤️
Thank you!
I don't fly much anymore but I must candidly admit that your videos are superb; highly informational, descriptive, and always interesting. Have a pleasant Autumn.
I appreciate views from window, and labeling landmarks. this one had nice shots of London upon landing.
I just got off a 787-9 tonight for the first time and I thought it was an absolutely stunning plane! Your Gulf Air review is amazing as well and I know it is an amazing airline. The views from the sky were beautiful. Great review Paul, thanks!❤️👍✈️
When I flew Gulf Air in 1988 it was like a bus schedule with numerous stops en route to HK. Loved the service and the hospitality both in the aircraft and at the airport. I still have most of the amenity kit they gave out to every passenger.
Wow Paul! Thanks for this lovely lovely review of GF...I worked for this airline as cabin crew in the late 90s, early 2000's. I loved my time here....we weren't always the stars of the Middle East but we were a lovely crew and most of us loved working here! We had awesome destinations, and Bahrain has been the best "home" i've had....still yearn to go back....hopefully for a big reunion next year!! Thanks again, for loving Gulf Air and your fabulous review of us
GULF and OMAN AIR offer almost identical products and are the underrated gems of the airline world!
I'm sorry, but GulfAir can't compete with Oman Air. The A320 CEO by GF are outdated, the service is mediocre. Since MCT has the new terminal, BAH is just not an alternative anymore.
Oman Air is the much better product, except for GFs 787s and the A320 neos.
@@Felyxorez before commenting atleast gather some information a320ceo and a321ceo will be retired by 2023 and gulf air will have the youngest fleet in the middle east and FYI oman air can't compete with gulf air because they will be have 16 lie flat bed on their a321neo and oman air they don't even have new planes there fleet is almost going to be outdated except those 787 and new terminal at bahrain airport is going to open on 19th of March next week, lol, you don't even know that!
The strange looking turboprop in the background at 2:29 is a C-2 Greyhound. Its a small carrier capable cargo aircraft used by the United States Navy to deliver personal and cargo directly to at sea aircraft carriers.
Wow good eyes! Totally missed it.
Saw it as well as a C-130. Bahrain is the headquarters of the US Navy Central Command, as well as HQ for the 5th fleet.
@@MagicalBacon Used to live under the fllight path for Naval Air Station North Island and saw them passing overhead. This was a "Wait was that a...." Moment
@@davidbarnett9312 Saw the Herc as well.... Those birds are used all over the world so I didn't think I needed to explain... But that Greyhound is a true odd duck!
I didn't miss it at all. VRC-40 Rawhides out of NAS Norfolk in VA.
Thanks Paul. I'm a fan of GF too. Especially the breakfasts! There's usually some nice fares ex. LHR on GF to the Far East which even though they are a bit higher than they used to be, still represent excellent value especially with the 787 now on all sectors to SE Asia. The GF Lounge at LHR is similar to the Bahrain Lounge. The extra security check applies to London consistently, I think the UK has a secondary screening requirement.
Definitely the best flight reviews I've seen. To the point, relevant & eloquent. Been subbed for a while and your videos improve every time. Well done Paul and atb.
I watch a lot of your videos. This was the first time I've seen the inflight meals look that good.
Flew a Gulf Air TriStar in 1988. Very pastel interior, but wonderful!
As a child of 11 I flew on a Gulf Air Tristar on January the 1st 1979. My family had left Iran that morning as part of an evacuation of expats leaving in the face of the oncoming revolution. It was the first widebody that I'd ever been on and seemed the most luxurious plane ever. And speaking as a "refugee" it was quite the way to travel!
To this day, Gulf Air have a special place in my heart... And also in my cutlery drawer. Somebody in the family swiped a small spoon with the airline's logo in the stem and it is with me more than 40 years later!
It's good to see them looking after people to this day.
Gulf Air has an incredibly good service.Surely is one of the best airlines worldwide.Excellent report Paul.
Lovely fair video Paul. You took me back with your plane spotting as a boy and seeibg the Gulf Air tristar. Loved it.
Paul, I worked in Bahrain and Dubai in the very early 80s, we used to fly Gulf Air in and out, even in those days it was a great experience, if I remember it was Tristram, cabin crew were very multinational and superb,
Looks great....that seat, and the free pajamas and slippers, as well as good food. You had a wonderful flight.
Thanks for the video. I spotted you yesterday at Heathrow taking the transport from the C gates to the main Arrivals. Just past passport control I also saw Mary Beard, the TV historian, she was sitting close to the customs exit. It was a surreal day indeed.
First long haul flight was on Gulf Air in 2005. This looks very impressive.
Great video. Flew LHR-BAH-BKK about 10 plus years ago. Food was some of the best I’ve ever had.
I'm a new subscriber, really enjoy your videos. Thanks for the price at the end, a review (of anything) without a price is simply incomplete.
Keep up the nice job.
Ah, Paul, still cranking out superb video each time, every time. Just masterfully done. It's always pleasant to catch up with you as time permits.
Mr K left a comment on his recent SIN-ATH trip that got me thinking. When asked why he always chose top-tier accomodation at the high-end resorts he visits yet flies economy he said to compare the cost per hour.
Keep on keeping on.
Gulf Air is easily far and away my favorite airline, and it has been since 1980. The extra security checks are quite common. A tip with business class is to wait away from the line and when the checks start, walk up and show your business class ticket to get through first, otherwise you might end up last. Bahrain is also my favorite airport, for both transit - really quick and simple - and arrivals. Very helpful and friendly people, on the desks. The lounge food is superb.
I have found over the years it pays to look slightly lost and bewildered in airports and they will help you out.
I don't usually comment but that review was fantastic Paul - loved the music and the video was concise but detailed. Thank you!
One of the best business class products I’ve seen in a while. Great video, Paul, I really liked the music and videography in this video!
Thank you for flying with Gulf air 787 Falcon Gold the lounge is my Favorite In December I am flying falcon Gold but it’s a A320
Brilliant background music towards the end. Amazing videos as ever. Keep up the good work.
Good one Paul. Thank you.
Big fan! And, looks like an amazing trip. As you mentioned, this beats some first class products now, and 10-15 years ago would be a 5 star first class product.
Great video mate, am seriously hooked on all of yours :) This looked a great experience and that food was wow. Have a good day
Again an amazing trip review man! I love your videos and enjoying them every time! Thanks for sharing man! Liked
Gulf Air is still as good as it was in the mid 80 when it started a service from Sydney to London. No fully flat seats in J then, but they did have a Seniors first class fare in new Airbusses. And was that fare cheap - About $A3000 - GBP2000 return in those days. I think they may have been the first Gulf Airline to visit Australia and I was so disappointed when they withdrewe in the mid 90s in favour of one of the others.
I loved my flights on Gulf Air in the 80’s. The service and crew were outstanding.
Golf Air Business class looks amazing! I gotta try someday. Thanks for the review Paul👍
Great vlog Paul - keep up the great work - really enjoy your reporting.
Paul, your enthusiasm is infectious!! I can't wait to see your upcoming vids. Loved this one, you're right, Gulf Air is amazing. I just don't get the thumbs down?????
It's rare to find an airline these days that exceeds expectations. Your review is informative
Greetings from Bahrain...a new terminal building will be operational soon. Excellent review...very crisp & engrossing. Keep going!
Flew Gulf Air from Sydney to London return and found them a good airline. We traveled around the time of the Gulf War in Iraq and ran into a pilot who was running freight into Iraq at Bahrain Airport on the 2 hour stopover. He was a very interesting character who had some frightening stories about flying in and out of the so called "Green Zone".
The best aviation vlogger is definitely you paul
Solid. Excited to see this come up, glad you got this experience after the Hainan one.
Great video as always! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant !!
Loving the videos Paul. I hope to be making this flight myself soon. Keep it up!
I love ur channel and I don’t know what it is about ur voice but it’s very enticing. Great vid keep up the good work.
That security check was there when I went on Gulf Air back from Bahrain in 2016, it always seems to be there on the London flights at least (don't know about others)
An excellent review. Glad to see the take off run un-speeded up!
Great video Paul.....keep up the good work!!!
Great report as usual Paul,if you ever get the chance try Oman Air business class on there 787 Dreamliner or refurbished A330.They also have the Apex suites and the service is second to none.
Already booked in for December!
Excellent. You will be pleasantly surprised.
“I like they haven’t gone down the glitz and glamor route “ that just about explains why you like this airline.
Insightful - thanks for sharing Paul. Looking forward to your next report aready. Hello from North London (under the Heathrow flight path) : - )
Nice video. The lounge experience seems very appealing given that there’s not much else to do in the antiquated airport surrounds.....
Paul, Wonderful review. Thanks
Sunday afternoon, open youtube and see your video on timeline. No hesitate to click and watch. Cheers..
Great video Paul !
Really enjoyable, first class editing, filming and music👍
That business class looks like when I have and argument with my wife and she puts 1pillow between us in bed at night
Best reply so far I've seen this year!
😂😂😂
if she does that to me i take it out and get to work...
Maybe you should consider a new wife
You are so awesome I love your blog and review of airlines
Great video as always.
I had a flight recently from thailand to london with oman air with stop in muscat and it was great. It would be great paul if you make review about them too.
One of your best videos Paul! Great job with the editing and music. 👏
My personal experience with Gulf Air had been pretty bad, on 4 different flights, both biz and eco. Wasn't happy with either the hard or soft products. The airport is probably the worst hub in the Middle East. Thankfully, had short layovers there. Although, I found their pan-gulf flights to be a little better. I have avoided them since.
On a side note, wondering if you got to Dhaka on Biman's 787 flagship route. Safe travels to North America. ✈️ 🌎
Nice review. More Gulf Air flights in the future, I hope. I want to see how their meal service is on a flight operating between normal hours.
Great video hope you have nice rest have fun my guy and good luck also you earned a sub
Great report as always, thanks.
Brilliant video, Gulf air definitely seems like one for the bucket list.
That is an outstanding cabin product!
Gorgeous livery on those planes!
Those Waffles 😋👌!
Looking forward to your Virgin Atlantic 747 report 🙂
Paul you look very excited plane looks good
I really enjoyed this trip video. Good to know some planes have sky-chefs!
9:04 Pity about the Stop button! Lovely report, Paul!
Nope, not surprised in seeing an Irish bar in Bahrain airport.
Theres a irish bar in Helsinki airport aswell.
Why do they exist?
@@saile-aep oak barrel and o'learys sports bar! Best bars in helsinki airport

There's also a McGettigan's Irish pub in Dubai IAP.

Great Video Paul. I love the enthusiasm and excitement you had especially given it was very early in the morning. Just wonderful. I've heard some great things about Gulf Air. Not the cheapest carried but as you have demonstrated one of the best. How was the demeanour of the staff given it was Ramadam?
The second security check before boarding is common practice for flights to London with Gulf and BA
Great video Paul and nice use of the music 👍
Yum! Those waffles looked incredible!
Amazing report paul
I'm a big fan
I like when you point out landmarks on the ground You used to do that more!
Food looked amazing Paul especially the breakfast waffle.
i will be flying to manila on gulf air business class on 12 dec, im excited though!
Have you tried Oman Air? It also uses the Apex Suite in business class and is quietly doing great business against the Gulf's Big Three. They use the Apex Suite on the Boeing 787-9 product. One of the configurations has one row in a separate cabin apart from the main section. Six of us travelling together got that cabin to ourselves. The only drawback is that people in economy keep trying to come through the curtain to use the toilets in business. The flight attendants were great at sending them back.
Love you channel Paul, can you do a video where you take a Geiger counter on a journey, I have heard a lot about the radiation encountered during flight. It Would be interesting to see if different aircraft / flight times have different amount of radiation.
Awesome review!!
Amazing beautiful review LUCAS♥️♥️♥️
Keep safe travel
Paul you have to try the Asian carriers. Korean Air, Asiana, Japan Airlines, and ANA come to mind. Also Thai Airways is always a treat.
I got a lot of memories in the Irish Lounge
I’m new your channel and I really enjoyed first video keep the hard work
Great Vlog 👍 Thank u Paul 🙏
Never really heard of gulf air but will think about using them
One of the oldest!
@@ttggreen1 I asked my mother and she new of them immediately it was with them she first flew alone on!!
Fancy pijamas with the falcon... Love it
Thank you for the video!
Fresh waffles , looks like you’re living your best life, great trip report. Can’t wait for the virgin one
I think you should try dlying from Atlanta (ATL) to Richmond (RIC) with delta, they usually use CRJ or MD type aircraft.
Loving your videos pal!!!
You sound like a sales rep for the Apex suite in this video! Haha!
Good and calm review
Great vlog as always. GF and SV are great options to/from middle and far east instead of EK, QR and EY. Have you tested WY? I have heard many great things.
Recording take off again is brilliant!
Another brilliant video!
great comfort & service with Gulf Air BC! wow
