The highest point in the United Kingdom is Ben Nevis (Beinn Niobhais in Scottish Gaelic), which is in Scotland. Scafell Pike in the Lake District is the highest point in England. (3212 feet?)
The biggest danger in English bodies of water is the cold. They can remain cold even in prolonged warm weather. Many can't take the sudden cold shock if they dive/fall in. They panic, and by a quirk of our anatomy, you drown faster in fresh water than in salt water. There was a tragedy not long ago, in I think Ullswater, when a young man, having been in the warm shallow water near the edge, found himself out of his depth in cold water further out and drowned. I believe people can drown in 30 seconds. Dark peaty water then makes them difficult to find.
Another mistake for more competent swimmers is to try to cross a cold lake, and for hypothermia to slowly take over. Hypothermia destroys our ability to think rationally, so people make silly decisions.

Mate nothing stopping you. I have visited many countries. BUT it helps if you get paid leave. I’m just about 70 and I’ve even been to your country. But honestly all the others were better

Windermere is our largest of the lakes, you can take cruise boats on all of the lakes, there are several watersports on the lakes. There are legends about parts of the lakes.

Great that you highlighted that people should have respect for the lakes etc. People just seee calm water and thats it but dont think about depth or undercurrents etc. You can have a great time on the water so long as you are mindful and use common sense. The same goes for climbing the peaks as the weather can change quickly so you should be aware of that and take precuations.

Dryer times are May to July, but expect rain. In terms of dangers, yes there are several drownings every year and a couple of dozen people die on the fells and mountains each year, usually the winter. There are often because people are not properly prepared for the weather, wet and cold. It’s a wonderful place and I’m glad I live here, but you have to respect it.
Jet skis and stuff doesn’t happen. Lots of water sports, but quiet ones. No fast boats or jet skis.

Worked for an Inner City Upper school in Yorkshire... we had a hostel in the Lakes . Took students to them to see the beauty of nature and just enjoy the majestic scenery....time wasted ... 2 days in and they were bored ! They had never seen lakes , cows and sheep , let alone country living !!

IF you wanted to check out more of the Lake District there is a Long Distance Hiking Trail called the "Coast to Coast" or the C2C (there are many to view here on YouTUbe). 180 mile from the West Coast in the Lake District right across the country to the East Coast at Robin Hoods Bay in Yorkshire. I have hiked it in both directions and it only took me 10 days per crossing, staying at B & Bs, Camping or the Youth Hostel sites (YHA UK). Tony in Essex, England
