Having flown in helicopters (and airlines, of course). I'm afraid the likely scenario in this accident is that both aircraft were traveling in the same direction (toward the camera). The pilot of the helicopter was facing the same direction as the plane, if this is correct (and is very likely is), neither aircraft could have seen the other coming. Commercial airliners are equipped with the TCAS air collision avoidance system, but it would likely not have been active as the jet was on final approach, and below 900 feet above the ground/water. This system is disabled at this distance by many carriers because so many aircraft are taking off and landing from busy airport facilities. Sadly, the helicopter pilots and crew, in this situation, would likely have not be aware of the jet approaching them (at 150-160 miles per hour) until a split second view of the jet's landing lights, or upon the collision itself. The pilots in the jet, similarly, would have been aware of the Blackhawk for a literal split-second before making contact, as it flew into their path. This is an incredibly sad situation. My prayers are with the passengers and crew of both aircraft, and those who loved them. Why both both were operating in the same airspace is a question for which we don't (at this writing) have an answer.
It is such a tragic end... Thoughts and prayers for all those who are involved in it.. From the outside it appears to be a fatal judgement error on the part of the military helicopter... To give a benefit in judgement of doubt to the military helicopter pilot.. one needs to hear what ATC had said to both the pilots... May their souls R. I. P
Adding that music is disgusting.
Turn the music off please
Dramatic music is in extremely poor taste. This horrific tragedy is real life, not a flippin’ movie.
They are hiding something
The fancy photography, the dramatic music, and the lack of information are ALL USELESS and insensitive.
