- In this Belize travel guide, we'll show you all the best beaches and ancient ruins to explore in Belize. We'll provide information on the Mahogany Bay Village, the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and more so you can make the most of your visit!
Be sure to not only visit the Cayes but also mainland Belize. We had some of the best food in Belize City. We stayed in the Conningsby Inn in Belize City, but don't really recommend it.

You can either fly or take a ferry to the Cayes. We took a less expensive ferry to the city of San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. We stayed at the beautiful Mahogany Bay Resort by Hilton which cost us $316 per person x 6 guests for our 5-night stay in August. Prices can of course vary depending on dates, and the number of people you travel with. This is just to give you an idea!
Having loyalty to a hotel is a great way to save money. We have Diamond Status with Hilton so when we booked 4 nights, we got a 5th night for free, and even though we booked a smaller (& less expensive room option) they upgraded us twice during our stay. You'll see their 3-bedroom townhouse and 5-bedroom townhouse with a private pool featured in this video that we enjoyed during our stay.
We explored some of the most popular beaches like Secret Beach and tried the famous viper shot which had an actual snake inside of it! We also had an incredible local Garifuna experience which included traditional dance, food, drums, and other instruments.
We went on an amazing catamaran excursion with Xsite Belize which included snorkeling the largest living barrier reef at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, swimming with sharks at Shark Ray Alley, sailing through The Split, feeding tarpons in Caye Caulker, and having the best time with the best guides!
There was so much to see and do throughout Belize, and we included it in this video so you can easily plan your trip to Belize!

Yes we learned a lot about the diversity in the country. Especially learning about the Garifuna as we had an experience with them too. So interesting to learn about the culture of the people!
Belize is part of the mainland of Central America with lots of little cayes off its coast. Guatemala is always trying to claim the country as its own, it's a long-standing argument.
I went to Mayan ruins and this Mexican tourist was teaching the group about mayans and I had to tell her stop lying. This is my peo0le land and pyramids as well! Sorry...

You can get pretty good deals from JFK now and then, so keep an eye out. Prices are high in August because of carnival, but May might be a good time as we have the chocolate festival then, and hurricane season hasn't yet started, so perfect beach weather 😌

I wish we had spent time in Belize City. Caramba was a nice experience. We got a golf cart ticket once we left the restaurant 😂😬 Secret Beach was definitely a vibe. We took a taxi. I loved how Shallow the water was❤If I knew how to swim yes I would definitely swim with the sharks. Caye Caulker was nice especially the lobster 🦞 Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉

The ferry is indeed $44 round-trip per person. We visited Altun Ha during the morning in August, which might explain the lack of crowds.

The road was bumpy but not unsafe I would say. just watch for the potholes
