The easiest way to quit is to find a new game which is enjoyable and you'd end up playing that one game for the whole week causing you to forget about league. after im burnt out from that one game I just end up not playing video games at all since nothing can compare to the enjoyment i had playing that game.

Saying you play a game for a week and forget about league is shortsighted and misses the point of the video. I used to play league during season 3 and 4 and then stopped playing. I came back during season 13 though, of course. Got a new account to lvl 30 and played a ton of ranked for the short amount of time I had since I reached lvl 30. I am bronze 2 now and will probably keep playing, even though I know this game is the worst and my teammates are the same, and I also am not good enough to solo carry even in bronze.

Deleted the account and not looking back. Honestly, if they didn't do these stupid engagement manipulations behind the scene, I would still play it to this day. Being matched with dumber teammates the higher you go just hit the nail on the coffin for this game. They 100% manipulate the matchmaking and the game is balanced in such a way that you can't turn around with dumb teammates.
I don't even want to insult the people, but when 100hp ADC gets killed for 30 gold minion after being pinged "recall" 10 times and told in chat that he needs to recall, it just boils my blood. These people are DUMB and they DON'T LISTEN.

I'm not so sure that some of the more frustrating people I've encountered are actually people at this point. I am leaning towards the idea that Riot creates bots to fill in matches to satisfy whatever the matchmaking system is trying to do in a given queue. It's already been established that they allow confirmed botted accounts to persist without banning/punishing them, so it's not a stretch to think they would create some (most?) of the botted accounts themselves.

  • @mclwhite5289

I was a consistent euw booster to masters in S8 and luckily made my bag for the time i invested in learning this game.
I can confirm that the matchmaking has gotten worse every season after S9, and the 2nd S13 split is blatantly manipulated.
Its with the introduction of Emerald that ranking has gotten to its dying breath. Nowadays the players in gold are more consistent than the players in diamond.
For anyone reading this and caring about rank: Ur rank doesnt matter. I see "s13 dia players" getting hard stomped by silver players in random normal games. Its a straight up coinflip until arguably 1000 LP Challenger.
The only reason i play from time to time is because i have good enough mechanics to turn games by myself and i have genuine fun doing it.
Stay away and force Riot to fix it, they will not do anything if you ppl buy new accounts and grind 400 games every split.

@mclwhite5289 Yeah I can totally see that when I was playing in norms 2 mounths ago as a gold player I did see too many peoples with fresh lvl30 acc being emerald, diamond being bad and wooped their arses, like how the fuck, I got my account from s3( my account is broken to this point lol, repairing it is pain in the ass) and I dont want to make a new account because im quite attached to my main one and I dont want to be part of this stupid smurf mentality.
We should have like in korea only 1 account per person it would be more enjoyable but like he said in the video the MMR gain and loses are way unfair to keep you addicted, so I didnt play games of leagues for about 2 mounths because I know they dont want to make their game fair for everyone and honestly Its a really good decision I made but sometime the dopamine crave hit hard but Im telling myself that the game is cringe and its better to put my time elsewhere.
Thanks for your view on the game, I was here to calm down my dopamine crave and this video and your comment did hit the spot.

I played League since release. Back then I was in school, right now I'm a 27 year old man working a 9 to 5. I did actually quit League simply because I let go of delusions that I can actually ever get better, stopped caring about getting better and realized that this game is a massive waste of time.
I don't mean it in the "games are a waste of time" sort of way, but in the League specifically wastes too much of your time on scenarios where you are not even having fun. And I think that it's one of the reasons why League players are so toxic, it is because you constantly feel like your time is being wasted either by bullshit from your teammates, or you making a mistake and dooming yourself to suffer for the next 30-40 minutes. Even if your team ends up winning, you will still end up with a miserable experience and a feeling of your time being wasted on an unfun activity.
Also back in the days of my youth esports and streamers still haven't ruined online gaming. Right now I just stay clear off any competitive multiplayer game and dress up waifus in FFXIV. It's a peaceful life.

For me, the actual game itself IS super fun, but the player base is cancer. From smurfs, to derank bots, and both soft and hard inters, along with general toxicity, it's just miserable to be around these degenerate freaks. I'm convinced that a good number of people playing LoL don't have anything positive going for them irl, so they take it all out on strangers in a video game and it ruins the enjoyment for everyone else.

If you played the game with the intention of not actually being invested in whatever you're doing in game but to see just how stacked against you the game gets when there is a losing quota that it must fill with you in it, you will begin to notice subtle key-presses, dodges, mechanics, movement speeds, internet irregularities, random freezes, off-ticks on muscle-memory abilities, clicks and autos and ultimately the outcome of all of the subtle rigging that's taking place underneath the fun little game this is for kids that are blissfully unaware.

I was a true one-trick style player. I had two or three champions that I liked and never got bored playing and would easily play hundreds of games in a row on the same champion (unless it was pick/banned of course). I was a Jhin main and would play whole seasons on just Jhin and probably have over a thousand games on him alone. After so many games on the same champion, you very clearly notice when something is off. A last hit doesn't kill, an ability cancels, a hit-box is off, a fourth shot doesn't execute, a bouncing grenade doesn't bounce to a target it should, etc. Those things were frustrating when they happened time to time, but as my awareness of the phenomena grew I began to notice that these performance irregularities always tended to be clumped in specific games. Similar to a "no effing way game" in an EA title (where the computer just decides you are going to lose), there would be games where everything felt off; everything was stickier, more clunky, like a dream where you are throwing punches in slow motion. It was as if some games I was playing with a hidden handicap, and those games became more frequent the more I was winning. I 100% believe they tweak things in-game to alter outcomes. People like to attribute that stuff to "spaghetti code" or "fatigue" or "everyone has bad games". But I cannot discount the distinct pattern of play that emerged so consistently. I've been saying this for at least 4 or 5 years, and the more information comes out about how Riot utilizes engagement based manipulations for the game, the more vindicated I feel in my intuition.

@@Jammonstrald Same deal with me, I primarily played Bard and I really enjoyed playing him because I was dynamic and versatile on him in so many ways but eventually I came to realize that some of his major transformative abilities could no longer be used because there was just no way to calculate anymore, when and how long his abilities were going to take and last which in turn is what caused me to take long breaks - months and then when I returned back to the game hit it off for a few only to begin noticing the discrepancies again in certain games which fill you with anxiety when you can't land abilities that are supposed to hit and then getting spam-flamed in chat because it's one of 'those' games.

I understand it can be hard, but quit playing this game guys. You're not even actually playing a game, because you aren't allowed to know the rules that you are playing with, and those rules are arbitrarily changed behind your back (mmr, lp gains, loser's queue, engagement matchmaking, etc.). It's in Riot's financial interest to coerce people into creating smurf accounts, it's in their interest to manipulate matches to elicit desired psychological outcomes, and it's in their interest that the system is inherently "unfun" and toxic. Given what is known about how Riot manipulates the game environment, I am also highly suspicious that they manipulate in-game actions/numbers as well for the same reasons. What is known is that League is inherently designed not for fun or fulfilling matches, but for frustrating matches that get you chasing dopamine hits. They designed a very elaborate slot machine.

I started playing league around the end of S4 and the beginning of S5, and that was the best time I had playing this game. I quit because I realized it will never go back to what it was anymore, it's just not the same game I used to love...
I almost got kicked out of university because I couldn't stop playing during my first and second year. My grades, friendship, and social life suffered to the point where I cannot even recognize myself anymore. Moreover, my life was completely filled by playing league everyday for countless hours, and I was too embarrassed to tell anyone about my gaming addictions. I tried to quit by uninstalling the game quite a few times before, but it was only since June of 2020 when I managed to quit completely. On the day that I quit, I was so angry and frustrated that I lost countless ranked games in a row, to the point where I almost raged after I lost a couple of meaningless ARAM games just trying to win for once. I was no longer having fun but rather playing just because couple of friends who introduced me to the game were still playing. What really hit me was the sudden realization that I've put my blood and sweat over all these years, yet I was still hard stuck gold and couldn't win a single game that day no matter how hard I tried. I had never lost my mind like that before and I knew that I just couldn't take it anymore, so I deleted the game one last time for good. Since then, I haven't touched the game and I absolutely don't have any desire to play it again.
I regretted wasting six years of precious time, life, and money on this game, and it's something that I can never get back. Looking back at it, I don't miss this game at all. It was simply one of the best decisions I've made as it changed my life completely. I became a much happier person, as I found my purpose and calling in life through my church. In terms of my career, I made the decision to pursue a career in education after I quit. More importantly, just a few months after I quit I met my girlfriend, and we have been dating for over a year now. Honestly, I don't think I would have gotten a girlfriend if I continued playing. Your life will be in a much better state when you stop wasting your money and time on something that's literally a virtual reward and data. Seriously guys life is too valuable to continue to waste it on something like this…

For me I understood all these issues, I realized that playing ranked was a scam, and I would only play to get all the ranked rewards and then stop . Then I would usually play normals and play to get skins. But even now I realized that it is way too grindy. Now I just play for events and with friends, but I have been thinking of dorpping this game alltogether because of the terrible decisions and apathy shown from this company as well as their abysmal standards for this game and the user experience.

I did quit. 😀 the moment i could quit was when i release that Riot focus is not the player, but focus on Pro play only.
-All the balances are focused on pro play
-The game got reworked from how you play will reward (win) you LP > to depended on others (the team) will reward you your LP.
-All the new introduced stuff is focused on pro play. They always say how to make the player excitement. But in reality they wanna use the pro players do those stuff, so the normal players wanne be like him.
Casual stuff like winter map horrow map and all easy to use runes and masterys and champs are all gone. "We want more interaction, so we make the game harder to play. From point and click to pure skill bases". Example older champs, like GP and fiora. Easy to use, but reworked so its harder to use

Skill based matchmaking is implemented in league. The developer is lying. There is proof in the code leaked that happened a while ago, there is also interviews from the original guy who made the league matchmaking that he made to be based in fun and not fair and having something akin to 2w, 2l and 1 contested game(the game where you playing good or poorly can decided the outcome) on average. This is excluded if you, 1- are a new player(really account), 2-if you are a in a winning streak(5+w) or 3-if you are coming back to the game after being inactive for 2 months. You also can't get auto-filled if you are in a winning streak(5+w)

The system is skill based my friend you are wrong. Its just that you lose sometimes even if you do everything right. But in 100 games you will win 60-70 if you do everything right all the time. That will give you a lot more lp than what you lose and you will eventually climb to a higher elo. That repeats until you reach an elo that most players are as good as you. Then you will get stuck. A team based game cannot be 100% on your performance. People will make mistakes very often. Its up to you to not make those mistakes worse than what they already are.

I think your argument has some holes.
    1. Losers' Queue is a fundamentally flawed concept. Losers' queue implies that riot can accurately measure skill and then manipulate the matchmaking to keep you chasing dopamine hits; which is way harder than simply having a matchmaking system that pairs you with a close to 50% win rate. After all; if the goal of the matchmaking system is to give you an equally skilled set of opponents, where either side could win; you would expect players to cap out in rank at a 50% win rate in aggregate. It is far more likely that the MMS sees you winning too much and decides to give you harder and harder opponents; or weights your skill higher than your teammates until you start to hit a wall. Once you hit that wall and lose a bunch, the system can recalibrate to put you with people that are weaker players. The added component of tilt / exhausition or off role-ing is a big part to the chaos of the MMS, and is likely due to the perceived "unfairness" of the teammates one gets put with.
    2. On another note, it's hard to call league an addiction off the merits of playing the game giving a dopamine increase. Your body naturally produces this chemical in response to eating, or other basic life functions. League has been refined to be a very fun and engaging game, and there is nothing inherently wrong with spending free time to play a game that is challenging, yet exciting in the moment-to-moment gameplay. The issue with addiction is when it prevents you from engaging in normal life or when you pursue it self-destructively. The vast majority of people that I have met through the game do not play an excessive amount, or grind ranked habitually. For me personally, I have played the game since S2, and after skipping a season, attained my ranked goal with a 70% wr.
    3. That said, the ranked ladder is designed to make you play more than necessary. I started my placements in my ending MMR, but took 36 games to get there with a 70% win rate. I started multiple tiers below my MMR in ranking, which was total bullshit because of the unnecessary separation between rank and MMR. This is definitely a bad thing for the average player, as it inflates the time required to play the game to get their desired rank; but i wouldn't call it addictive; the only reason I even played ranked again was because I approached it with a different mentality and don't worry about friends caring about my rank; I know my skill level, and so do my friends, I have nothing to prove. However; getting to play against better players is a nice end result of tryharding in ranked.
    4. The idea that you have fixed match making is a bit off-base. The likely truth is just that the game is always trying to push you towards a 50% win rate, and so if you go on a win streak; the game will put you against harder lobbies until your winrate starts to go down. The only people who can escape this are those who are so beyond their current rank that the system fails to introduce significant challenge before the player attains the rank they desire (lower than their actual skill, but with sufficient rewards) or if the player is a truly top-tier player, there may be no harder lobbies to face, and so that top #1 player can reliably carry assuming their skill is high enough to never be eclipsed by another set of players.
Overall; i think league is no more addictive than any other video game or hobby; but it is easier to play a game of league than to drive to the hobby store to buy goods; playing the game is free and only costs your time and emotional energy.

    • @ronaldoplays8648
      @ronaldoplays8648  Год назад +6

      I appreciate your pure mindset.
      1. First point you make is that its not possible to measure what team will win, well it actually is extremely easy to measure and there have been ppl making outside programs to measure which team will win before the game started and were extremely accurate. So for Riot it is easy to replicate that with the amount of Data they have.
      2. Im glad you feel that way. Me personally i think it is a bit concerning to play the same game for over a decade and i know for a fact that a lot of people have suffered from League addiction more than any other Game i know.
      3. You state that it is designed to make you play longer to get to ur desired rank which is correct and the reason they do that is for delayed gratification. Ways to do that is like mentioned the mmr system or fixed matchmaking.
      4. Why would a big company forgo a way to increase their profits?
It may only cost time, but time is the most precious resource we have.
