Another great technique from Lisel! In this video, Lisel creates a round form using wood clay (cork clay can also be used). She wraps the form with EZ960® Sterling Silver Clay and embellishes it with detailed textures, syringe work and small sterling silver clay beads. Create multiple beads with original, unique patterns using Lisel's technique. Хобби
REST IN PEACE LIS-EL, MY FIRST TEACHER ON MY PATH. FOREVER GRATEFUL.
Another great video from Lisel
Thank you Lisel! Love your tutorials and this project is going to be great fun to do!
these are adorable, you teach so well
Thank you for shering and tipps.
Wow. Wish I could take classes from her.
Thanks so much for all the information. It is just lovely. EUdice G
Ohh my goodness this is beautiful Lisel! The way you work with the clay shows such expertise ☺️ I’m just starting out with silver clay so I’m still nervous when I handle it. Can a bead like this be fired on a gas stove? Thankyou, Clare.
Hello, a bead like this requires a kiln as using wood clay for a hollow form is dangerous when torch firing or using a gas stove. Thanks for watching, please feel free reach out to us with any questions, we are always happy to help!
New subscriber today, really interesting stuff! Thought you might like to know they do still make cork clay, I bought some last month at Daiso, the Japanese discount store.
Beautiful bead! I also admire your spiral bracelet. Was it made with the same clay, and if so, do you have a tutorial?
Actually, both cork clay and wood clay can be purchased from Fire Mountain gem's.
Thanks so much! Very informative! Just curious to know if I can use the PMC flex? Thanks!
Hi Debra, sure, you can use PMC Flex in this project. Thanks for watching!
Can this be torch fired? It's beautiful!!!
Hi Sharon, this cannot be torch fired. The wood clay needs to burn out and be properly ventilated inside a kiln. Thank you for the question!
Can the bead be put in a rotary tumbler after firing?
Hi Dorothy, yes, the bead can be put into a tumbler after firing. You may want to put a chenille stem or something in the hole to prevent shot getting inside. Thanks for watching!
Hi! Thank you for the tutorial. What would be the recommended firing schedule for wood clay when using with PMC3?
Hi Marisol, the firing schedule for PMC3 is 1650°F / 899°C for 2 hours. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your reply. So is it safe to fire wood clay at a full speed?
I’m asking because I have read information about how to fire when using CORK clay (slow ramp and holding at 900F for 30 min and then normal) but I can’t find consistent information regarding on how to fire WOOD clay when using it as a core for PMC3.
@@marisolborboa6901 Hi Marisol, it is highly recommended that the kiln ramp is slowed to allow slow smoldering out of the wood clay. A fast ramp speed might cause a quick burning when the wood clay reaches
its flash point, which can in turn superheat the metal clay and cause distortion or melting. Simply set the kiln to the typical
firing schedule for the metal clay, slowing the ramp to 1000ºF/hour to accommodate the wood clay. Hope this helps!
@@cooltoolsvideos thank you for the advice, sure it helps!
I just watched another video of making a hollow bead with cork clay. For firing they recommend 200/hour up to 750 then hold for 10 minutes for the first ramp. Second ramp is full speed up to whatever heat your clay requires and hold up to a minimum of 2 hoursç
Hi fascinating tutorial, can this be fired on a stove top? as I don't have a kiln yet.
Hi Anna, we do not have experience using a stove top. We always recommend firing in a kiln, especially for objects that need support such as this hollow bead.
@@cooltoolsvideos thank you for replying.
How do you fire these in the kiln-do you place them on an open kiln shelf or place them inside vermiculite in a dish? thank you.
Hello, you'll want to fire these with alumina hydrate or vermiculite for support.
@@cooltoolsvideos Thank you very much.
