The motor off was added because it is to give a motor off like your plx-1000. The power cable position is so you can rotate to non battle position and still wind the cable through the cable management channel by the foot closest to the tonearm. Source: I was on the development team. 😂
Motor off button is a feature on regular analogue technics 1200 turntable. It is used for turntablism tricks or effect when powering off as a braking effect. Scratch deejays used it back in the days for chopping the beat in many ways. This unit is not only digital, but a hybrid version that is also mimicking an analogue turntable feature wise.
exactly . Why can't Rane/Pioneer make their players universal, offering a way to switch the displays/buttons for battle and regular position. Or just selling 2 versions of the same unit. I would but 2 of these turntables in a heartbeat if they offered them in a regular position layout.
looks nice and all but damnnn too many features and then to top it all off damnnn things cost a lot of money. Ridiculous. Bottom line- No matter what kind of turntable that is made out there and put on the market, no turntable will ever beat or top the Almighty Technics 1200 or 1210. Period. That's just my opinion though.
I have a pair of SL1210 Mk2’s and can fully get on with the nostalgia and sentimental value they bring me, not to mention they remain a great, perhaps bullet proof turntable. I haven’t tried Mk7’s so can’t compare directly but having bought a pair of CRSS-12s to go with DDJ-FLX10 controller, I won’t be getting the 1210’s or old mixer back down from the loft except perhaps for some vinyl only throwback mixes. The CRSS-12 looks great, does more, and is in my view better. The magvel clamp adds an extra level of stability, and they sound great too. Technics remain the original and iconic pioneers, but Pioneer have made a great deck here!!

It the buttons and display were configurable for battle or traditional positioning like the old Numark TTX1 was it'd be perfect!

People buying this is better than SyncDJ-3000s.
I personally think this would feel identical to 1210’s and of course has more features. I may buy a pair.

How accurate is it for mix in when in midi digital mode without the tone arm on , I have timecode vinyl for rekorbox and I’m not keen
I noticed no issues at all. It's as accurate as any other Pioneer controller when in digital mode.
