In the first set...Looks as if price of Koi B here is more based on pattern than anything...but for body shape, balance, width of the head, nice thick tail, which suggests potential to grow large....Koi C would be the one I'd be choosing by a long way....but it does look as if the dealer is basing his prices more on pattern than anything...he knows his market better than I....
I'm just guessing here, but I think it might be because the spacing of white at the odome and the nose are equal, and in general, the spacing between each step is fairly equal as well. The quality of the fish and the hi are pretty good, on top of having a five-step pattern, I think it makes sense why it fetches a higher price. Personally I also would have picked Koi C just because I feel like the pattern would stretch nicely as it grows-something I am not sure Koi B would. If you like gambling, that would be a good fish to try lol.

i think the first step to judge is the head., month and tail size. picking up nice colored one doesnt mean it can grow to large size
