    Yes, thank you. That was very helpful .. I already love miso and soy sauce (Kikkoman) .. don't know whether I'd really like the other two enough to buy them for personal use though.

    Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately there are not many Japanese groceries around in Sydney, but I always have these four basic ingredients in the kitchen.

    Very interesting, I would have thought light soy sauce would have less sodium than regular. This will come in handy for planning my next grocery list. ^,^

    I guess I started watching you a year ago. I was watching a video on spam musubi, and this video popped up at the end, lol. Good explanation on the seasonings. Never knew there was a white soy sauce, haha.

    I really love your videos. The clear breakdowns and statistics make it easy to understand what really matters.
    But there is something i still don’t get. I often read that mirin is a type of sake with higher sugar content. But then there are recipes which call for sake, sugar and mirin separately. And i wonder if you are already adding sake and sugar, whats the point of the mirin? Or, couldn't you just use the mirin if you want sake and sugar?

    Thank you for the great video.
    I use Yamasa Organic Soy Souce, it is great for the price and taste and I feel more umami with it than salt. The problem with my local soy souce is that it is so salty and unflavorful so I had to order Japanese Soy Souce.

    Can aji mirin substitute for mirin? If so, do you use the same equal measurements of both?

    I cannot find Hon Mirin. Will Aji Mirin work the same way and provide the same flavor? What other options are there?

    I worked in a Sushi Bar, preparing Sushi Rice and remembered about Mirin, sweet Masala, or white wine vinegar for Sushi they were all equally one whole cup to combine to use for Sushi! Is this recipe also good to use?

    What brand of mirin is good tasting and healthier? Price is not an object, try to make some teriyaki sauce. Thanks

      I normally get the one with the least ingredients, no specific brand.

    Hello! May I ask if it's possible to use too much mirin? I put about 3/4 cup into a medium pot of soup. I didn't realize it has so much sugar. ^_^
    Thank you kindly!

    • @asakusa-tokyokitchen
      @asakusa-tokyokitchen  3 года назад +1

      Haha 😆! It’s ok, its just a little too much carb in the soup. It won’t kill you 😊.

    Can mirin and sake be used when pickling vegetables?

    • @asakusa-tokyokitchen
      @asakusa-tokyokitchen  Год назад +1

      You could but I normally don’t because they contain alcohol.
